Yum yum yum. The flavors they have on display are nothing like special. Some of the coloring also seemed off. Like bubblegum flavor. It was so bright blue. Yes, I do know that bubblegum is not a natural flavor. The brightness just puts me off. The other flavors were good. They are known for their mixing ice cream. Basically you order whatever ice cream you want, the size and the mixes you want in your ice cream. They will assemble the rest for you. Good thing here is that mixes are unlimited. B and I ended up getting a banana split to share. It was super tasty. We had them throw in nerds and skors on top of the ice cream. Love skors as toppings. Decor is ok here. This Marble Slab Creamery has been around for a long time. It is always busy. The reason is because of the reasonable price and the good ice cream. It was interesting how the ice cream flavor label is on one side and not the other. The staff had some trouble finding the flavor. That was ok with me. I wasn't in rush of time. In general, I LOVE sweet and fruity ice cream with real fruit and marble slab creamery makes them perfectly every time. I've been to the marble slab creamery a few times now and I've never been disappointed by their ice cream. On this visit, I tried their raspberry cheesecake ice cream. It tasted delicious and refreshing. I added some nuts as a topping for added crunchy texture and I enjoyed it quite a bit. The waffle cone it comes with is also very good and perfectly complements their ice cream. My friend ordered a birthday cake flavored ice cream with sprinkles on top and also liked it a lot. The original price of their ice cream is kinda expensive but i had a BOGO free entertainment coupon which made the price a lot more reasonable. They accepted the coupon without any problems. I was able to order my 2 ice creams without problems. Small note but the staff lady working there at the time was moving a little too fast and I felt a little rushed when picking my toppings. I was the only customer in the store by the way. It wasn't a big deal but I had never seen a person move so fast there. Anyway, I have to give this location a solid 5 out of 5 stars because of their delicious ice cream and the fact that I got a good deal on this visit with the coupon. read more

Hands down, one of the best businesses to have in the Westend of Vancouver! I called last minute to get a large number of ice cream sandwiches, and had the pleasure of speaking directly with the manager Yen, who is efficient, friendly and accommodating at an extremely busy time for them (Celebration of Lights)they also carried the heavy box to my vehicle with a crowd in the streets. This ice cream/yogurt shop is similar to Coldstone's Creamery, but they don't charge for every mix-in. You pick a size, flavor, and as many mix ins as you want. Then they mix it all together and you can either get it in a cup, waffle cone, or even a chocolate dipped cone. The great thing is that it's all one price. The spot of choice, on the corner of Denman and Davie, facing English Bay, for an ice cream shop, you cannot ask for a better location. There are many other Marble Slab's in the city, but this one just stands out due to location and the excessive line-ups I have been a part of the times I have been here. The creations made at this place may look 'icky' as they are smushed up on that cold slab with two metal spoons, but that costly dessert that you are paying for is quite delicious once it hits your mouth. For ice cream, and a twist to the norm, this place does it right, they let you try the flavors of the ice cream they have, and you proceed down a line up like you were at 'Subway' making a sandwich, but instead you are getting to a sweet treat. Not much sitting inside this place, as the 'bar' and the fridges take up most of the area. There are a couple seats at the window facing out, so that you can do your people watching, and some seats outside. Just know that the beach is really a 'stone's throw away' and that most of the day and night are busy. If you are driving down here, good luck on the parking. But if you are strolling around the area, and your looking for a cold fix, come on in, and if you haven't tried it, be prepared, this thing is going to fill you up. read more

WHY is this ice-cream so effing incredible? I first had Marble Slab in Victoria, so imagine my delight when I found this sucker in English Bay. I saw the line and was not swayed. No Sir, not one bit. I knew what was in there. There's gold in them thar freezers. This is probably the best ice cream I've ever had, I'm not gonna lie. I've had a lot of it too. This place really is the best of all possible concoctions - I love cheesecake - bam, presto, cheesecake ice cream! I love candy of all kinds - hell to the yes we can give you cheesecake ice cream WITH score bits and hot fudge. I biked the seawall on the one sunny day we have had so far this YEAR, and I worked myself up an appetite for ice cream. After hearing many good things about Marble Slab, I figured it was high time I checked it out. The lineup was all the way outside of the store and them some, and I can only imagine it gets even more redinkulous as the weather gets better. I tied up my little pooch to the railing, and took my place in line. I'm not sure the wait was worth it, since a small ice cream costs up to $7, that's if you get a regular waffle cone. However, if you get a fancy cone it's at least a dollar more. So if you are having ice cream for dinner, like I did, you might as well make it worth your while. So not only am I wasting my precious time from the sun (which is important because the sun is a rare commodity in Vancouver) but I am also wasting those hard earned dollars I barely make after the government squeezes most of it out of me. I had the cookie dough drizzle, which is probably just as fattening and delicious as it sounds. I have discovered the reasoning behind the slow moving line. They are weighing the ice cream before throwing it on a slab to add toppings to it. Seriously? You have to weigh my ice cream? What the hell kind of ice cream nazi runs this place? I understand quality control and all, but this is the FIRST ice cream shop I have EVER been to where they weigh your ice cream before they give it to you. Get fucking serious. On the plus, they do give out frequent customer cards, which eases the pain of the whole experience a little. I doubt most of the people that get the cards ever fill them up - due to the lack of good weather, thus the lack of need for cold snacks, versus the high visitation of tourists in the area. You better believe I am going to fill up that card this summer just so I can get a free ice cream. The only thing that will need weighing by the end of summer will be my fat ass! Also, after getting my ice cream cone, and departing for the long walk home, with the cone in one hand and the dog leash in the other, the dog decides to mark some territory on the way home, and there I am stuck trying to pick up one thing without letting the dog lick my cone, or having it fall on the ground. At around 5:45PM on December 1st 2012. My boyfriend and I walked by [this] store and glanced inside. We thought it was closed. The sign with all the times clearly stated that it was open late, but it said 'Closed'. We peered inside, all the lights were on and the sandwich board was outside. So, we pulled on the handle and walked in. No staff was in sight at all. We even tried to peer in to the backroom and couldn't see anyone. They have a great selection of "base flavors" (I highly recommend the cheesecake flavor, it is delicious), and from there you pick your "additives." Mmm mmm good! Stopped in here with friends, craving ice cream, while in the West End. It was late on a Friday night and it was busy. We were a large group but the staff were still polite and patient with us. I loved that you only pay one price (for the size you want) and you can have as many toppings as you want (unlike other places that charge extra for toppings or weight). I got a small Irish Cream ice cream with oreos, chocolate, cookie dough, and fudge. The girl who put together my cone kept asking me if I wanted anything else in it, which I appreciated. But it seems that they have gotten rid of the Crispy Crunch in the last few months .... WHY?!?!?!? Anyway...I had to update my review because I had another great experience..My partner had his birthday recently and all we wanted was an ice cream cake from Marble Slab,..I called to order and ask all the details..the lady on the phone was super helpful and made it a snap...you pick the ice cream base you want and as many fixin's you want..I went with the birthday cake ice cream with oreo and cookie dough....the cake for 8 people only cost $30 and was ready in a day. This place can be an absolute clusterfuck when it is busy. They could really do with some streamlining of the process. I think I was served by a total of five people none of whom seemed to realise I had just given my order. With some terrible signage as well I think I saw two or three tourists heads explode trying to figure out how it all worked. Aside from that though how can you not love ice cream on a sunny day. The ice cream they server in the store is amazing, but don't get an ice cream "cake". I don't know why they call them cakes--they're just ice cream shaped like a cake. My fiancé got me a Reese's peanut butter cake for my birthday. It was just a handful of crushed Reese's cups on top of awful chocolate ice cream, and I think they didn't even use Marble slab ice cream. Pick a smooth flavour and a crunchy topping and you are set! The location is pretty much perfect in summer time. I've seen the crowds! Holy! The staff are a little... less perky than I expected. But, seriously, who cares! They're beating up ice-cream and then serving it to you on a cone. I don't care if they're prancing or dragging, as long as I get my ice-cream. It looks a little like an overdone corporate Coldstone knock-off upon first glance, but I assure you it's very good. I stopped in several times and the employees were always friendly (the owner works here and is really sweet). Plus they give you as many samples as you need (there are lots of options!), which is good news given the nearby Gelato place limits you to 3 samples for a 2-scoop cone-- what the heck??? I have to like 2 out of 3 things??? Not possible. Ok, I digress. Tons of mix-ins! I always get raspberry mix-in (good with the dark chocolate). And the waffle bowls!! How fresh! Decent value for money. I recall coming here a while ago and spending about $7-8 for a cone with more charges for mixins. For $6 and unlimited mixins, that seemed fair for me. While the quality is not superb like your rain and shine/Ernest's of the world, it is still much better than traditional grocery bought ice creams. My favourite is the birthday cake. My waffle bowl today was very stale. Not surprising as a bunch of them sat premade, out in the open, and uncovered. And a stale, unsatisfying product was not worth the most expensive ice cream I have ever had. As for the staff and service, the place was empty on a rainy late evening. Two staff members were professionally dressed and jumped at the prospect of helping customers. The owner of the franchise on the other hand, was dressed for a sporting event and only addressed us when it came time to pay. Though I don't really expect much for an ice cream parlor, so I let it slide. Would I come back? Absolutely! I love ice cream when its vanilla based, and I can add whatever I like to it. With all their options they are sure to be able to meet any of my cravings. And having it mixed on the spot ensures its "the freshest ice cream in the world", or so they claim it to be. Would I recommend it? - Yes. Not only do they serve delicious ice cream. But with a fridge of ready to go goodies you can take their ice cream home in buckets. Cakes for birthdays, or get a mini personal sized one because you are worth it. I had an Entertainment coupon for buy one get one free. I showed it to the the woman making my ice cream, as I hadn't used it there before. We only got two because of the coupon. After preparing both, the woman said the coupon was only good for the North Van location. I can't stand when stores do that. It did say that on the coupon, but if I ran the biz, I'd tell my employers to give customers the benefit of the doubt. I'd offer the discount. It cost us just over $14 for two cones of ice cream. At my office we order cakes for every body's birthday and recently we ordered an ice cream cake from here. I have never tried Marble Slab's ice cream so I was looking forward to getting a little taste, just enough to whet my palate. Ordering was a breeze. I was able to order by phone, pay with the company credit card over the phone and confirm they deliver for a nominal price of $10. In all my arranging of catering services, deliveries of cakes etc., this was the easiest. As well, when I asked for it to be delivered between 11:45am and Noon, they actually delivered between that time. When it came time to cut into the Caramel Peanut Butter Crisp cake, I was in heaven and the whole office couldn't get enough. Luckily I am on a strict eating regimen so I used all the self control I could muster to stop myself from taking a big chunk and instead took the tiniest sliver but let me tell you, this was fantabulously delish! read more
