Lisa (owner) was super friendly and made me feel welcome. BUT. I was very let down by the class itself. I was one of the first people in and I set myself up towards the front left corner of the room. I thought there would be around 10-12 people taking the class as the room isn't that big but boy was I wrong. By the time the class was starting I was sardine packed into the wall- one false move and I was taking someone's eye out. Idk if it's just her trying to make as much money as possible but girl maybe have a cut-off? I did not enjoy my experience AT ALL. I may as well have set my money on fire. Side note: I was disappointed that the demographic is a little older than I was hoping for and so I was even more disappointed when I was given a physical therapy resistance band. The asanas were way too easy yet complicated by the lack of space to actually stretch. I lived in Santa Monica before and my yoga practice there was just as aesthetically pleasing as this one but I always had 6' of personal space around me to freely move and stay inside my body. I am extremely late writing this review but I have finally settled into my new routine and find another Yoga practice but my disappointment came right back so I just had to get it out.

I just never felt like I had accomplished proper training and frankly was afraid I'd hurt myself. Well..classes at Nueva Alma are so diverse and Erica (the owner of the studio) is hands on and has provided me and many students a yoga sanctuary. I've taken workshops, hung in poses on the only Iyengar Wall in Westchester, Chair Yoga where you learn how to properly align in poses you would normally do on the mat and boy you do feel a major difference...a must class for beginners. It's an all purpose Yoga and Wellness studio that is an asset to anyone wanting to take their first class or for the more experienced yogi...Namaste Update 10/9/18 It is now 8 months since I joined Nueva Alma and it has transformed my mind, body and soul...My Alma..Cliche but true..So much so that I am now doing my 200hr Teacher Training here. At Nueva Alma you come as you are...first timer...or not..size 2 or size 22...raven haired or a ginger with dreads...Roman Catholic or a Buddhist...in fact..one of my major mental kinks was being afraid of fitting in..of feeling awkward if I failed at a pose..being judged. I was looking specifically for a Sunday class before church and the "Alma (Soul) Flow - Nondemoninational spirit filled asana with Aromatherapy & Sound" sounded perfect. It was AMAZING! Both provide some intensity beyond the typical stretching of other yoga classes. Plenty of space in studio and lockers to drop off your stuff during class. Nice and clean water fountain - and its free! I hate when studios try to sell you water, give me a break.

Eduvigis was so insightful and encouraging, and helped me make very subtle, yet profound adjustments to my practice that immediately benefitted me. Now I have a bespoke 20-minute daily practice that I know is serving and supporting me during this challenging time. Previously, I struggled with maintaining consistency in my practice and experienced a lot of soreness and pain from online yoga videos that were not the right practice for me.
