It was easy to make a reservation on the website and the times of the class were convenient. I also appreciated that during the booking process I could select my spot in the class. The studio has plenty of space to store personal items, cubbies and coat hooks on the main level and lockers in the basement. Because it was my first time at the studio I was able to use a mat and towel for free, I believe they rent them for a low fee. The only place for improvement would be front desk, the young lady greeted me with a smile and was very nice and responsive. I've visited other studios where I felt welcomed as a first timer and was given a tour of where everything goes and where everything is located and that level of service didn't happen here.

Their late policy is absolute: arrive even one minute past your class time and you will be locked out and charged -- no exceptions, including unforeseen circumstances. They do not answer their phone and do not accept voicemail, so there is no way to reach anyone in real time if something goes wrong. If you have time blindness, executive function challenges, ADHD, Cptsd, or a highly sensitive nervous system, this studio is not designed with you in mind. It is not trauma-informed, and the environment does not accommodate neurodivergence in any meaningful way. For those who need consistency and predictability, it's also worth knowing they have modified the traditional hot yoga sequence -- so what you practice here may not be what you expect. The waitlist system is also poorly communicated; you may not know you've been moved from a class you reserved until it's too late to plan around it. Beyond logistics, the atmosphere feels cold and unwelcoming -- though I'll leave it to others to determine how much of that is the studio versus the region. This studio is BUSINESS FOCUSED rather than CUSTOMER focused, which contributes to the stressed, unfriendly state of the world today. There are wonderful yoga communities out there that lead with warmth and genuine flexibility. This one, in my experience, is not among them.

My favorite part is the different types of classes you can take, so it's not just original hot yoga but other types as well along with HIIT of course! This makes it fun to switch it up and also take a couple of classes in a row if you wanted, since they schedule different ones back to back. Another hugeeeee plus for me is that they have early morning classes and late at night if you slept through the morning ones like I often do LOL (along with late morning/ mid day, early evening etc). Additionally, the staff is nice & welcoming and I oftentimes see instructors paying extra attention/TLC to newcomers If you're a hot room lover then deff come to Yoga Freak ASAP!!!!

But I didn't let my self-doubt talk me out of it. Chris and David were incredibly supportive and answered any questions I had prior to class; they set me up with a mat, blocks, and blankets. As the class began, I followed along much better than I anticipated. With Chrissy's help, I was able to do things I didn't even know I was capable of. I felt so good at the end of this class. I intend to go back for more classes as soon as my schedule permits. This studio can accommodate the newest of beginners to those with years of practice. Well..classes at Nueva Alma are so diverse and Erica (the owner of the studio) is hands on and has provided me and many students a yoga sanctuary. I've taken workshops, hung in poses on the only Iyengar Wall in Westchester, Chair Yoga where you learn how to properly align in poses you would normally do on the mat and boy you do feel a major difference...a must class for beginners. It's an all purpose Yoga and Wellness studio that is an asset to anyone wanting to take their first class or for the more experienced yogi...Namaste Update 10/9/18 It is now 8 months since I joined Nueva Alma and it has transformed my mind, body and soul...My Alma..Cliche but true..So much so that I am now doing my 200hr Teacher Training here. At Nueva Alma you come as you are...first timer...or not..size 2 or size 22...raven haired or a ginger with dreads...Roman Catholic or a Buddhist...in fact..one of my major mental kinks was being afraid of fitting in..of feeling awkward if I failed at a pose..being judged. Erica ( the owner ) - kind, funny, knowledgeable, welcoming- the class gave me all the feel!! It is a no frills…read moreplace and Amy, the instructor, is highly skilled, excellent teacher and gives plenty of individual attention. Besides being very affordable, a 10 pass is $100, it is a high quality workout. More importantly, the routine is not the same, she shows modified versions of challenging exercises and the atmosphere is very friendly and cooperative. I took a break for 2 mths. due to work issues and really felt the difference, the good thing is Amy assured me it all comes back quickly and after 4 sessions I definately feel back in shape. Highly recommend going there if you are looking for quality and individual attention classes.
