If tanning is your thing, cmon down! the laundry machines run on quarters.... I prefer the more up to date plastic cards in newer laundromats. I used to do my laundry here a lot back in the day.
It has a much sketchier clientele late at night. It is a 24 hour place..that works to the advantage for domestic nite flies. They do have washing machines from uber-huge to regular ole top loader. They have a bonus centrifuge to use before drying. It does cut down on drying times, but usually equals out in money spent. There are a ton of the huge front end driers. There are some days this place is so filled with people, it's tough to get a washer or drier. I rarely go here anymore.
Hey, you might even converse with an exotic dancer who shows you her latest tattoo or piercing. Bonus: go for a quick beer at The Tropics bar in between loads. Have fun..take artsy photos or even write a poem or 2....now go fold that laundry!
History Note: This place used to be a bowling alley. Along came a fire in the 80's. The place converted to just a laundromat. Tanning added in the 90's. The post office across the street used to be a Kroger grocery store. The seedy old Westwood Theatre at one time was an actual family theatre (before my time) Street cars actually used to come down Sylvania Ave and pivot back for return loop at Jackman and Sylvania (way before my time) This neighborhood is unfortunately showing signs of blight, yet remains vibrant in many ways. read more
