Lump crab and shrimp tower
Tiphany B.

Stopped in on rainy Saturday to give this local gem a return visit. Apparently, most people were avoiding the rain since the restaurant was pretty empty. We sat in the bar and found out that lunch specials extend thru Saturdays... including $0.99 cocktails. I tried a lemon drop from the special menu and my husband had an old-fashioned from the regular menu. Both were great... mine was a half size of the regular size but for the price, a second one made sense... so I obliged and it was just as good as the first. We tried the lump crab and shrimp appetizer and it was yummy. While not the full lump that I was expecting, it was still delicious. Hubby had a burger and I had the shrimp poboy. He loved his smash burger and my shrimp were fresh, huge, and beautifully cooked. Neither of us could finish our food. We plan to return for Thursday night fried chicken or Sunday brunch!

Kudos to Manager , Server Mark and Staff Shelley, Robert, Latreece and Caleb. I almost hate to post this review for fear the Sunday brunch will be overrun. Long story short. The Sunday brunch is to die for. The restaurant is gorgeous inside and reminded me of a Charleston SC style low country spot because of the chandeliers and gas lamps. The buffet has anything you could want and the staff all highlight the benefits of their dishes. Service was excellent with plates removed quickly and coffee refills on the spot. Tons of lovely touches including warm hand towels with lemon, beautiful restroom, the swings at the bar and live jazz. That's all I'm going to say...shhhh mums the word!

Fried catfish and fried chicken (Sunday brunch)

This is a solid spot for Cajun food in southeast Houston. I haven't had much reason to come down to Dickinson until Marais opened up within the past few years. I recommend making a reservation on OpenTable to guarantee a spot. If no inside seating is available, their patio is gorgeous and faces the bayou. While they also offer brunch a la carte, I especially like their Sunday brunch buffet, in which you can try a variety of their signatures for $40 per person. They offer mimosas for the table with a variety of juices for only $10 per champagne bottle - that is a steal! They even have a live Jazz band playing during Sunday brunch! Parking is usually not an issue in the back, as they also own the next-door establishment and allow you to park here as well. The buffet area is a little cramped, as they convert the near-bar area into the buffet on Sundays. I have found that the traffic movement seems illogical here: you have to walk all the way through the buffet line to where the line starts in the opposite direction. I wish they would reverse the flow here to make it one-way to reduce congestion. My favorites on the brunch buffet are the gumbo, fried catfish & grits, and mac and cheese. The roux in the gumbo is very flavorful. The catfish is always crispy with a good seasoning; if you need tartar sauce, ask your server and they will bring it out. I like the fried chicken as well, since the breading is super crispy, however it is seasoned way too salty. I almost had to take a gulp of water after each bite. I also wish their hashbrowns were dry-fried and crispy, however these come out wet and soft. They also have a Bananas Foster station, which can take a minute to come out. But finding Bananas Foster anywhere outside of NOLA is pretty rare, so I'm happy to see it offered here. I will say that they go heavy on the bread though (filler), so if anything I recommend trying it for just the bananas in the saucy glaze. Service here is always solid. Brunch time is always super busy, so it might take a minute to flag down your server, but all of the servers are usually friendly and willing to help each other out. We will definitely be back for brunch since this is a good option in the area. I always walk by the swing chairs at the bar on my way out, and have this place on my list to try for happy hour or drinks someday if I'm in the area!

Elk chops

Went for dinner, Chris was our server, he was amazing! We started with the smoked red fish dip, mouth watering! Creamy, smoky, and delicious! Wish the portion was a bit bigger! We split the classic wedge salad, crips iceberg lettuce, blue cheese chunks, and avocado slices! Yes, please! Hubs had the elk chops! His first time having elk, he loved them! Medium rare is the best way to order elk! The blueberry compote was a nice touch, but the potato's that were served with it were way too salty. We should've said something, we didn't, that's on us and being that I had plenty of my meal, we shared my orzo! The elk chops were delicious but on the smaller side. They should add another chop or two. I had the special 5oz blackened filet topped with crawfish etoufee and Cajun orzo. My filet was cooked a perfect medium rare and my sides were not salty whatsoever!! When having a steak or chop, they bring a selection of steak knives to choose from which is a nice touch! This restaurant has a large dining area, a large bar, another bar area "a fancy sports bar" with horse saddles as seats along with swings at the bar! There is also a large area downstairs with a bar and lots of tables with a great view of the bayou! Great date spot or a great spot for the family!!

The place is very nice, the service were amazing always checking if we needed anything else. The food was amazing.

Went here for my Sweet 16 and will be a very special memory for everyone. Rented the private room and Doug did more than just take care of us. He went above and beyond and was very helpful. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was fantastic and plated beautifully. We will be returning for more events in the future. Thank you Doug for the wonderful evening and fantastic food.

Wonderful place for a business dinner, brunch, or date night We had a great experience due to the patient and kind server. He was led us through the menu and made some good recommendations. We also really loved the ambience -- fine dining meets French quarter. There is an underground bar next to the bayou, outdoor dining, and another bar with swings immediately next to the main dining area. Also, there's a room that you rsvp for events and private dining! The food was delicious too. Here's the breakdown: *Chargrilled Trio - 4/5 due to being a little too salty *24 oz. Bone In Ribeye - 5/5 *Marais Crab Cake - 5/5 *Lobster Mac N Cheese - 4/5 *Brussels Sprouts - 0/5 we returned this one *Pasqua 11 Minutes Rosé - 5/5

Shrimp and grits. This was wonderful, May I suggest adding the grilled garlic bread to it, with it!

Had wonderful brunch with friends. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Nice and relaxed.

The food... we have been here a few times and have always been blown away, but this time was different. We started with the Tuna Chilly Chile; when it came out we were like, now this looks amazing!!! I just wish that the presentation tasted as good as it looked The flavors were not cohesive, they didn't flow. I couldn't taste the mango, was way too tomatoey, and it needed something. Next we had the crab cake, once again when it came out we were eyes wide open because it looked so dang good! Why was it not The best crab cake ever is from Pappas Seafood, so naturally we compare crab cakes to theirs. This crab cake though was bland, like no zing of flavor. We were disappointed Next we tried the Wagyu Gyoza, we had zero idea that it was going to be in a dumpling. Once again we struck out on all three dishes. You know the rule, three strikes and you're out! We did sign up for the rewards program because Miru does have some really good food, these three dishes are not them. Oh, and the gal with the super long hair that did have it pulled back who kept going behind the bar to make drinks because Natalie had a full bar to make drinks for, take orders from, and make your drinks for your one table that was in the restaurant section, be a better co-worker. Your rude comments about a chocolate martini were unnecessary and your hair whipping all over the place was uncouth. Either braid it or put it in a bun. ‍

I'd…read moregive it 4 1/2 stars if I could, but I'm going to land on four unless I surprise myself while writing this review. While everything was indeed very good, I can't say it was great. It was close. I'd eat here again and I definitely recommend. But on to the food and the service. We had a lot of different dishes so there's lots to say. Our server was young. While that may sound like a dig, it is not. He was super friendly and attentive. We started with some pretty awesome appetizers. The Shiitake Short Rib was falling-off-the-bone (and it is served on the bone) was perhaps the best bite of the night. There are a lot of appetizers to choose from. If you find yourself at Miru, order this. We also tried the Gulf Grouper - Flash Fried, Mango, Tomato, Basil. This was also a delicious bite. I ordered the Spanish Octopus, listed as an appetizer, for my meal. I'm a fan of octopus and order it whenever I see if on a menu. Though an appetizer, the octopus dish was a good size. The description clearly states it's made with peppercorn chile and I should have been prepared for it to have a kick. That said, it caught me off guard. It only took a few bites to adjust to the spice of the dish, after which I thoroughly enjoyed it. Other items ordered included Scottish Salmon with Ginger, Lemon, Lobster Butter, Shrimp, Blue Crab and Sautéed Asparagus... a lovely dinner. When the last couple arrived they ordered the Red Fish dinner, which included Lobster Brown Butter, Crab, Shrimp, Brussel Sprouts and Shallots. They shared the meal and enjoyed it very much. Mark ordered Fish & Chips - Miso Icelandic Cod, Yuzu Tarter and Fries. He definitely enjoyed his meal. I'm not surprised the overall rating for Miru Seafood is 4.5... hmmm. It's well deserved. There are so many options on the menu and everything we tried was quite good. We could go back and get an entirely different meal. I'm confident it would be delicious.

I told my mum for Christmas I don't want the same ole holiday meat of turkey since I had that for Thanksgiving. I wanted something more tasty: fried fish and shrimp. Preferably a grand tasting fish: Red Snapper. Yup, oh boy yes, that good ole thick and ocean tasting red fish. Upon our arrival, my mum, sister and I walked to this fairly large building with a mountain high of stairs. Once inside the fish market smelled of its native catch and it was strong. However, the owner seen how we crunched our noses up in disgust. She immediately started to ease the smell by cleaning the floors with some mopping solution. That masked the odor a little bit until we left. Anywho, the fishes were laid up eyes open and staring at us. Although, these fish were already dead laying on a bed of ice to keep them fresh. The prices listed were affordable and market by a pound. My mum picked out some gulf shrimp and a few pieces of red snapper. I also seen what tilapia looked like as the fish isn't very pretty, but my mum adores the taste. The Atlantic salmon was beautiful looking. There were many breeds of salmon. The sheepshead fish was definitely cheap and the taste of it is amazingly soft and delicious. I sampled the one my sister caught. We proceeded towards the cash register to pay and as we assumed our meat to be sky high, it actually wasn't. Additionally, when it came Christmas Day, I had myself a full meal of pan-fried red snapper and shrimp. The taste of the red snapper was delicious. For me, I enjoy eating fish that tastes from its natural habitat, it really delights my appetite for more. My dad butterflied the shrimp and wow the taste was incredibly yummy. Consequently, there's plenty of parking. The location is just near the Pier 8 restaurant and on a strip of other fish market competitors. So, choose wisely. Now, I'm glad to say my Houston family visits this fresh market often. No more shopping at Fiesta for freshness.
