Fried Ice Cream

We absolutely love this place. It is definitely our go to spot. I think I found my new favorite dish, the shrimp and octopus al mojo de ajo. It is so good I honestly cannot stop thinking about it. This time we tried their mango margaritas, which were amazing. Their esquite was also really delicious. Every visit keeps getting better, and we will definitely be back again.

Easy to grab a seat, service was quick and menu was substantial enough for a decent lunch. Big patio and cocktails were super good. Would not hesitate to come again!

This place was very yummy and a great happy hour deal. The owner was lovely and the corn was my favorite. The ambiance was lively and I can't wait to go back.

Maracas is a well-polished Mexican food restaurant. The menu and layout are professionally done. As you can see by the pics, there is indoor and outside seating. The whole restaurant is southwestern design with the appropriate music. This location is suited perfectly for visitors due to its central location and prominent street location for people watching. We started with the chips and salsa, see my pic. The chips were okay, and the salsa had the right amount of heat to be zesty without being overpowering. As you can see in my taco's pic, these are good sized tacos. The shells were nicely crunchy and were easy to eat from their taco stands. The meats were flavorful with the right amount of Mexican spices and the toppings were fresh. Also from my pic, you can see this is the right size for their Grande Burrito (for my taste, they were a bit skimpy on the ranchero sauce). The pork carnitas was flavorful and plentiful. The other filling ingredients of Mexican style rice and refried beans were good, making for an overall good burrito.

For being there at 4:30 we still got a seat and a good one outside. Waitperson was very quick to get drink orders and drop menus. I really don't drink so I had no complaints about my ice Tea. Our friends thought their margaritas were pretty weak. I understand when your outside the help forgets about you but 20 minutes and no return we were getting ready to leave when we got our orders in. The food was pretty normal restaurant Mexican food. Very clean and groomed. No crazy heat or anything. The food is good for all types of guests. Just not down and dirty authentic mexican, if you know what I mean. We would go back in a pinch. But so many other great Mexican restaurants around town not sure. They are right down town. So I k ow it's tough running a restaurant down there.

Ambiance 5/5! Love the misting patio seating and just nice to be out in the heat! Nice corner of a very popular street in Palm Spring! Food taste 4.5/5 Food portion 4/5 for certain dishes. Service 5/5! Bar area 5/5! We didn't sit there but looks great. Restroom 4.5/5 nice touch with a lit candle to keep it smelling nice. Overall clean the trash can is like a huge pot lol Price 4/5 little pricy but good food! You guys did great! Overall 4.5/5! So close to get a 5/5! My son said why is my ribeye tacos $26 bucks for 2 tacos lol. But he said it was good! My food was the octopus and shrimp, yum, the oily tangy sauce was just right. I somehow got stuffed! I liked it all, even the rice. Wife got the two item combination plate, same tons of food and didn't finish. Her beef taco was stuffed with tons of meat! Her chicken enchiladas was also very meaty! I took just one bite. Kids were happy and got cheese quesadillas and chicken fingers with fries. They were satisfied. Free chips and salsa, and did great offering us water up front and refilled our drinks! I guess it's fair for the location destination, felt it was a little on the pricy side but you paying for the service, food and amazing ambiance! Thank you for a great experience!

We always love coming to this place when we come out to Palm Springs. Right when you sit down you get served water, chips and salsa. My husband got a huge burrito and I got barbecue chicken salad. I like sitting out front and people watch.

Veggie Burrito

The service and ambiance was super nice! It had been my first time in the area and had no idea it would get that hot LOL. Anytime a worker saw my water up half full, they'd be on it to pour some more in :- ) I was super surprised by the handful of vegetarian options available, super grateful for those. I had the veggie burrito, I love trying different veggie burritos and seeing what is done differently! I enjoyed the varying veggies, I wish it had some sort of salsa or had the regular red rice. Nonetheless I left satiated and satisfied!

Margs and delicious food!

Went to Maracas for Cinco De Mayo dinner last night! We enjoyed the live music, grande margaritas, and let me tell you.... the food was amazing. The portions are HUGE, leftovers were taken home! We will definitely be back, love supporting a local family business!

The dinner crowd was out during Pride Weekend in full force! After turned down at two other popular dinner spots, our party of 6 landed at Maracas. The hostess greeted us with a friendly smile and we were seated almost immediately. The server was also willing to do separate checks, which was extra-appreciated as we were attending a conference. I ordered the enchilada plate with green sauce...delicious! Word to the wise, always make reservations in Palm Springs, but if you forget, Maracas will definitely try to fit you in! 10/10 recommend and will be back!

Decor inside

We ran into this place while walking down the street searching for another restaurant and decided to give them a try. We started with chips and salsa and ordered tacos, fajitas and quesadilla. Food was ok. The chicken in the fajitas was a bit rubbery and didn't have much flavor. The steak tacos and quesadillas were average. Service was a bit slow and the inside seemed a bit tired and dark. All in all it was ok. Wish the food was more flavorful.

Watermelon mocktail very refreshing
Wendy S.

Big thanks to Brandon for being super attentive and giving amazing service! The patio was lovely, shaded, and totally dog-friendly! I tried the Camerones ala Diabla and it was incredibly tasty! I also really enjoyed the watermelon mocktail he recommended. 10/10 for both food and service.

One of our favorites, taco bowl with impossible meat, and vegan cheese! Delicious

Palm Springs has a night market that happens Thursday night from 6-10 where it brings out people. Food vendors, arts and crafts, gifts and so on. A nice family outing on the main strip. Also all the storefronts are open as well. The thing with something like that, you tend to stand or find a seat along the curb to sit with your food. Hence we finally walked into this restaurant. It was pretty busy when we walked in but at the right time. Got seated right away as there was only two tables available. By the time we were seated, the line was pretty long. It's just off the main strip. Pretty decent size patio which seems to be where everyone was utilizing it as it was nice out. There's a bar area with seating as well as indoor, a smaller room. Service was nice. Water and menu was brought out first then came the chips and salsas. Quite tasty but can be filling if you can't control yourself. Started off with their classic margaritas and the spicy margaritas. There's a few dollars difference from classic to spicy. They weren't that bad. Menu wise, a mixture of all your Mexican dishes. We didn't have any starters as we just wanted the mains. The carne asada plate which came with both rice and beans. I opted for only rice. Thin skirt steak with chorizo, grilled jalapeño and onion, flour or corn tortillas and salsa. And the chicken enchiladas verde with the green sauce. The food was quite tasty. Carne asada plate was pretty plentiful. Nice skirt steak with a nice piece of chorizo. Both were quite tasty and flavorful. Steak was decent and cooked well. Not overly done. Then you have the enchiladas. It's decent in size but not too big. It's good if you're not too hungry. The sauce was great and was a perfect pair to the dish. As it was our first time, it was great. All these place that's been there but you walk by loads of time. Sometimes you just have to try new places out and see what comes of it. Maybe it's a hit. We quite enjoyed it and glad that we finally tried it out.

I was really disappointed with the service and overall experience…read more First, we were never offered water or refills, which set the tone right away. Both my husband and I ordered shrimp tacos. I don't eat meat, so I always choose fish or shrimp as alternatives. The first two tacos I received (fish and shrimp) actually had beef in them. I sent them back and clearly explained that I do not eat meat. I then reordered shrimp tacos and specifically told the waitress again about my dietary restriction. Unfortunately, the second batch came with bacon. While yes, I could have read every ingredient more carefully, I would expect the staff to be more attentive and helpful--especially after I had already sent food back for the same issue. Instead, the waitress lectured me about not reading the menu, which felt inappropriate and unprofessional. On top of that, the tacos themselves were not good--overloaded with random ingredients and not at all enjoyable, especially for $23. I left feeling unwell and very dissatisfied. The strangest part of the experience was the hostess at the front. She appeared completely disengaged, staring off into the distance. I tried multiple times to get her attention for something as simple as a napkin or the check, waving while she was looking in my direction, but she didn't respond at all. Overall, poor service, lack of attention to dietary needs, and disappointing food. I wouldn't return.

My fiance and I were in Palm Springs celebrating his retirement and I'd booked a reservation at Melvyn's well in advance. Unfortunately, their lack of service ruined our experience, and we walked out after waiting 25 mins to even get so much as a water. We decided to head to Sancho's and were immediately sat. Our server, Rene, was an absolute joy! He promptly brought us waters, beverages, and the some of the best fajitas EVER. In the time it took for us to walk in and out of Melvyn's, we already had everything--water, drinks, and food. Good thing too, because we were hungry! I can't say enough good things about Sancho's. They are a small business, and the hotel doesn't own them, so I'm sure they've weathered a lot with the loss of foreign tourism and tariffs. But their food and service is ON POINT and I'm so grateful to them for helping us turn a bad situation into a great one. I am still dreaming about those sizzling fajitas...they're a great deal for the price, and apparently if you go Friday's you can get the Fajita Friday discount!

The only positive is the decor,it's nice and has a cool Polynesian/mid-century vibe. That's where anything good ends. The service was terrible. We asked about specials as first-time customers, and our waitress conveniently failed to mention the Taco Tuesday deal. Instead, she rushed us to order. We later realized we ordered multiple taco plates that should have qualified for the special, but she never said a word. The food was even worse. I ordered fajitas, and what I was served was completely unacceptable,no vegetables, no resemblance to fajitas, just chopped chicken covered in chorizo and tomato sauce. It was disgusting. I took one bite and couldn't eat it. I planned to send it back, but the waitress disappeared and never came back to the table. I was stuck with it and only ate the sides, which tasted like reheated frozen vegetables and a small cup of beans. Despite barely touching the food and not receiving what I ordered, I was still charged as if everything was fine, about $22 for a plate I couldn't eat. When I finally addressed it, she insisted it was "fajitas," which is honestly ridiculous. To top it off, when my husband asked for a box, the waitress came back after handling cash and used her bare hands, with long acrylic nails,to grab his taco and put it in the container. That is completely unsanitary and unacceptable. Bad service, disgusting food, and poor hygiene. I will not be returning and will be reporting this place to the health department. Avoid this place. Warning Positive reviews are obviously coming from ownership friends.
