Maque is such a lovely little cafe. We were taken in by how charming it is decorated and how the waitresses are dressed in old fashioned dresses. As my daughter says, "It is so aesthetic!" Thankfully, the food tastes as good as the cafe looks. The juices were freshly squeezed and delicious. The orange juice was good and the orange, grapefruit, and carrot combination was even better. The coffee was honestly one of the best cups we had all trip. For our breakfast, we ordered eggs with chorizo and chilaquiles. For something small, we picked the ham and cheese empanada, which ended up being flaky and huge! The chilaquiles were very fresh and spunky. Service was attentive and it was a very pleasant place to eat.
I'm gonna start by mentioning that this was my favorite place I ate at while in Mexico City. The restaurant itself is very cute with very nice indoor and outdoor seating. The service was also very good throughout. Now for the best part... the chilaquiles. SO GOOD! We ordered the chilaquiles with chicken and egg and this was, hands down, my favorite dish of the trip. They bring the pastries on a tray to select from and we went with a classic vanilla concha that was so soft and yummy. Orange juice tasted fresh squeezed and refreshing. There was a mix-up with a raisin muffin (we were told it was a nut muffin with no raisins) but they readily removed it from the bill. We ended up coming back to Maque for more conchas and muffins on another day. Overall, would definitely recommend! And I'll be dreaming about these chilaquiles!
We stayed in an airbnb down the street, and we walked by Maque numerous times, and it was always busy (and the food looked great). We dropped in on our last day right before heading to the airport for brunch. Chilaquiles, scrambled eggs, lattes, and conchas... we were in heaven. There were a lot of street performers (music), so be prepared to tip for the vibes.
Definitely a tourist trap! However the restaurant is pretty and the coffee is yummy! The food was ok! It was soggy and had a minimal flavor. However, Service is great! They greet you and are very friendly. Several things they need to work on is the people who walk around and pester the customers they should be on top of it more. I was very annoyed with the haggling of items and the people trying to sell me things while trying to enjoy my breakfast. I understand it's their lives but one lady was crying to me telling me of her 5 kids at home and would not leave me alone until I gave her some pesos! I probably wouldn't come back to this restaurant while in Mexico City! The ambiance was pretty and the park next to it is nice for a walk! Watch out there are tons of dogs and definitely an allergy attack waiting to happen. Overall it's a safe neighborhood but I will not be coming back. Thanks Maque.
Lovely bakery & café restaurant in a tranquil urban area with lots of trees. They make a simply incredible iced Dirty Chai latte, one of the best I've ever had. Smooth, creamy and sweet in a tall glass. The cake I tried was spectacular. It tasted like a tiramisu but with less layers, moist and sweet with chocolate on top. They make fresh pastries and croissants, and I've heard that their cinnamon buns are the best in town. Will try those next. Beautiful outdoor seating and it's nice inside as well. Sparking clean and with an early 20th century classic vibe. Very courteous service. This is definitely going to be my next stop for breakfast !
Brunch here is like being transported to the streets of Paris. The vibes here take on a chic European flare without sacrificing that familiar Mexican flavor! The chilaquiles were insane: so crispy yet lots of flavorful sauce and super tender steak. Additionally, they offer a wide variety of tasty drinks! Honestly, though, wasn't the biggest fan of the blueberry danish we tried, but everything else was 10/10! The service was incredibly kind and accommodating, making the entire experience one of ease and relaxation- a perfect way to start the morning!
Maque is a beautiful gem for breakfast or lunch. We were seated outside, but in a more secluded dining area surrounded by plants, even though it's near the street. Despite this privacy, street vendors run a muck in this area, approach your table and are persistent with their sale tactics--while it's beyond the restaurant's control, it can be a bit intrusive. The breakfast menu offers something for everyone, with a variety of sweet and savory options, as well as light and more authentic Mexican dishes. They have a vast drink selection, but my favorite were the mimosas served with freshly squeezed orange juice. Note: servers will bring pastries or drinks to your table (also intrusive) -- these are NOT complimentary. Don't be afraid to say no. Service: Our waitress took a long time to attend to us on several occasions--it's clear they need more staff or better support. I would advise ordering and getting your bill while you can.
I was staying at a hotel close by and decided to stop in due to its Yelp reviews. The Yelpers were right this place is amazing. They start with offering you fruit and a sweet bread. Everyone here is very friendly and welcoming. They have a full bakery in the front. It's a very nice ambiance and the food is delicious. I had the chilaquiles and I can say that they were amazing. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed
Was looking for a walkable brunch spot near Condessa. The restaurant is a bit small but it is a pretty cafe. The smells of pastries were very welcoming. I had the Italiano omelett with ham on the side and an empanada. Everything was delish. I couldve eaten 567 more empanadas. They were very light. I also took some pastries to go to enjoy back home. They were extremely fresh and endured a long trip home.
BEWARE Came here for breakfast and when it was time to pay, he said my card didn't go through. I got the initial charge immediately and another young lady said here, use this other terminal I've been having issues with that terminal. When I told him I'd been charged twice he said one of them should drop since it's pending. 2 weeks later and both charges have posted. One charge for MQ Hipodromo and the other REST POPOCATEPTL. That is super shady business. Can't imagine how many times this happens to people
I loved their lemon frosted bread. I came back twice to this restaurant to have it. The first time I ordered a vanilla latte which was delicious. The second time my husband ordered the same and it came out tasting different and in a different cup. He asked if this was a vanilla latte and the young lady said yes but sounded annoyed. The server said he would bring the right one. Well, he brought it in the right cup but it tasted the same as the incorrect one. So consistency is a problem here haha. Otherwise good spot for breakfast if you're waking around in the area. Try the mandarin juice!
This restaurant is such an amazing space right on the corner so beautiful the staff members are so friendly, but most importantly, all of the dishes are delicious, including their green drink their cappuccinos, the amazing Molé enchiladas... they are also known for their pastries and tamales.. We arrived a little late. Unfortunately they were sold out of tamales. You really need to get there early if you want to get the most delicious fresh tamales ever. Very friendly, very people friendly . They have indoor and outdoor seating. Lots of wonderful space on the outside. This place is so tasty. I cannot wait to come back.

This became a regular for us since it was in our neighborhood, had a nice peaceful ambience and was very pretty and the food was very fresh. Excellent coffee. Great service too . Also unique pastries ( not my favorite croissant but everything else) We will have to come back to try the empanadas... Both omelettes we had were absolutely amazing. (the other was the mushroom.) read more

Our food was cold! The waiter took the food back to the kitchen to warm up it up but the only thing hot was the plate! My daughter had to put her cold meat on the side of the plate to try to remotely warm it up. This was not what we expected from a highly reviewed resturant in Polanco. Our first disappointment being in Mexico city. Definitely not worth the hype!! read more
I went to this location because a friend recommended it to me and I am so glad that I decided to go. This café was beautiful and had a lot of seating options. I sat outside and had amazing service. I really appreciated the servers speaking to me fully in Spanish and encouraging me to speak in Spanish and not English. It made me appreciate the culture and community a lot more. They were very attentive and kind. The food was AMAZING! I added some changes to my order and they made it happen which I was thrilled about. This has to be the best breakfast I had while in CDMX. The mocha was amazing and the omelets were beyond delicious. I would highly rethink location. read more

MEDIOCRE FOOD & DRINKS We came across this spot, and noticed how there were many customers. Additionally the exterior and interior of the restaurant marketed it as some boujee or high-ended brunch spot. However the food and service was far from it. The waitress gave us the lunch menu when we sat down. When we asked for just the cafe menu, she automatically dropped her friendly demeanor and made a face before walking back to get the cafe menu. For more context, this restaurant also has a cafe and we saw near by tables just drinking coffee with a baked good. We got the hot chocolate and cappuccino. The hot chocolate was disappointing, it was watered and frankly even Dunkin' Donuts' tastes better. The cappuccino was 'okay', but not amazing. We wanted a croissant, but they didn't have it, so we ordered a bread that resembled a croissant. That bread was not fresh or fluffy. When we got the receipt, we saw that we were charged an extra cappuccino. When we pointed this out to the waitress, it took her a long time to fix this error. read more

Nestled in a very hipster cute neighborhood we found this nice place. As soon as we got seated, we ordered our drinks and I love how they come to you with pastries and fruits and you can opt in or not. The two muffins we had were excellent especially the corn one. My breakfast dishes potatoes and bacon were ok to me lacked a bit in flavor. The chilaquiles was flavorful had both the red and green sauce. read more

Out of all the food places we've been in CDMX, I do need to start by mentioning this was on a disappointing side given its pricier price and rather slow service, however overall it was still good with their cute/cozy ambiance and food quality/quantity. The restaurant's definitely on a pricier side and the waiter adds the tip in the end without even asking. I assume it's because it's one of the tourist-famous restaurants. They only have e-menu's which was accessible through the QR code, but they didn't have a wifi and cell signal was very low/slow. They also don't have an English menu, but some servers spoke English, so they came to explain whenever there was dish that I didn't fully understand what it was. We got some cornbread, coffee, ceviche, and two main dishes. All of their dish was delicious, but somewhat on a heavier side. We couldn't _fully_ finish any single dish but we were still very satiated at the end. Freshly baked cornbread (which weren't on the menu, but when we asked they brought them out) were to die for. Each WAS pretty gigantic, so we regretted ordering one each. Ceviche was full of zesty taste and good amount of seafood in it. Not sure if it was because mango season, but it also had decent amount of mangoes and other tropical fruit in it. read more

Great food but service was lacking. I understand forgetting a thing here and there, but 3 times felt like a bit much. The food was so good, however, that Maque is still a solid 4 stars. I had the chilaquiles divorciados--they were so good. Not really spicy but definitely packing in the flavor. The mocha iced latte was also really delish. It's not overbearingly sweet. A definite brunch recommendation if you're in La Condesa. read more

Incredibly lively and filled with people talking enjoying their food and company. The bakery sends wonderful scents all over the corner where this amazing place is located. Staff are super nice and wear the most interesting uniforms. The food menu has something for everyone. Most definitely the best vanilla conchas I've had. read more
1 star off for the prices being high, but otherwise delightful, & still less than American prices (~$15 instead of $19)! I ordered the Omelette Verduras - it has tiny pieces of broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, & panela which was delicious! It doesn't come with potatoes or anything - I asked for a side salad (which is just a very meager portion of romaine & tomatoes, no dressing, but thankfully no extra charge), & added avocado (+ ~$2.75), & salsa which was quite spicy but delicious (no charge). I really liked the panela (like a fresh mozzarella but a bit more flavorful, but not made in house), & I appreciated that the food was not salty - I surprisingly haven't been able to find a healthy & tasty salad in the area, but I still need to try Ojo de Aguas. Also! The pan de harina (cornbread muffin) - is GLUTEN FREE (only corn flour)! It's soft, fluffy, not too sweet, & large - of course I had to ask for "mantequilla a la parte" (butter on the side), because butter makes everything better! read more
Breakfast in Mexico at this place was delicious. Condesa is the suburb of where the place is located. Everything from their pastries to their cappuccinos and their breakfast was so delicious. The service here was very professional and very attentive. This spot is located in a nice suburb area in Mexico City, and the ambience is pretty calm and laid-back. We got sat outside, and the weather was amazing. We will definitely be coming back to this place to have breakfast before we head back. read more

I planned to have dinner at Mendl, but when I discovered that it didn't open until 8:00, I wandered down to the corner where I found myself next to an inviting wedge-shaped little restaurant with interior and sidewalk-side tables. The menu posted by the door looked o.k., so I walked in. There was a fresh, bright, uncluttered, rather European feel to the place. A rack of pastries adorned the front wall. I knew the routine: pick up a large, round metal tray, a pair of tongs and try to resist buying one of everything. I promised myself an after-dinner opportunity and was soon seated at one of the stone-pave-topped tables. Very nice menu, but it had me at "Sopa de Cebolla". Oh, my! I order "French onion soup" virtually every time there's an opportunity, and if this was not the best, I've forgotten whatever else was! "Stay, thou art so fair!" They didn't just sweat the onions, they caramelized them (as they're supposed to)! The beef broth was intense, and they were unstinting with the Grueyere cheese. "Que rico!" indeed! The waiter was attentive and polite. What is it with this "Euro te" brand? It had been served to me at Matisse a couple of days before. Their black tea tastes of cinnamon, not, to me, a happy addition. I didn't bother to dampen the tea bag, just added sugar and milk to the hot water. This accounts for the loss of a star in my rating. read more

This was by far my favorite breakfast spot while in Mexico City... and quite possibly the best breakfast I've had ANYWHERE! First off, the place is so charming and beautiful and service was top tier. We arrived on a Wednesday morning around 9am and we were seated right away. They do have menus in English upon request. While waiting for our server, someone came around with a pastry tray. You can ask for anything off of it that may strike your fancy or you can decline it all together. For my actual entree, I ordered the chilaquiles divorciados with eggs. Chilaquiles is a very popular Mexican breakfast, that comes with either red or green salsa. Divorciados means split so you get half and half of each. Well gee whiz this dish just knocked my socks off. It was so delicious!!! The tortillas were thin and surprisingly crispy considering they were drenched in salsa, onions and other veggie goodness, plus a fried egg sitting on top. Both salsas were very flavorful and not hot. I'm not a fan of hot spicy food so this was perfect for me. My daughter ordered the enchiladas verdes and she was in heaven with those too. I don't think we uttered a single word while we ate because it was just so good, all we could do was enjoy. Stop by if you get a chance. It is located in the beautiful neighborhood of Condesa, perfect for an after breakfast stroll! read more
This place was recommended to us by our Airbnb host and was only a 10min walk from where we were staying, so we decided to give it a try and so glad we did!! We were seated pretty quickly and the service was very good. We got a couple of their pastries from what they brought out to us and they were super yummy. The orange juice was excellent. We both ordered their omlettes with different toppings (huitlacoche and creamed squash blossoms) and they came along with chilaquiles and beans. The food was very tasty. Overall, this place is a winner in my book and recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal. read more

Absolutely incredible place for brunch in the Condessa neighborhood of CDMX. It was busy at noon on a Sunday, but we still managed to get seated in about 5 minutes! Service was a bit slow, but as mentioned, the place was slammed! We had their fresh breads, fruits and several of their breakfast dishes. One of my friends got the wrong item, but they fixed that right away and we walked away beyond satisfied. Highly recommended! read more

Maque has quickly become one of my favorite places to get a pastry, cup of coffee, or brunch in CDMX. They have ample seating at both of their locations and one of the first things that do when you sit down is show you the pastries by bringing them all in a tray for you to pick from. The workers are wearing these really cute traditional outfits. I have mostly been having chilequilas for brunch lately and that includes here - they are EXCELLENT. My friend got some sort of omelette with a green sauce which she liked. The coffee is also very good. read more

Want an amazing place. If you visit CDMX and you want great baked good check then out. The food is very good and service is warm friendly and welcoming. My partner and I speak some basic Spanish and they are so kind patient and accommodating. The outdoor seating is amazing. We visited them daily on our recent stay! read more

Breakfast go to spot while in CDMX! I love the variety on the menu although I stuck to a few greatest hits lol! The staff was very friendly and really answered all my many food questions! I loved the motillas were great I had the bacon ones and the jamon y queso empanadas were delicious! I also tried the molletes and these are definitely worth it! Don't forget to have some type of sweet treat they make amazing bakeries! read more
Tiny little bakery, cafe in Condesa (close to Amsterdam) with sidewalk seating, servers in white shirts, delicious conchas, on a tree lined street, Maque is unassuming and lovely. Our favorite spot for breakfast in the Condesa neighborhood. It has everything you could want, service, style, wonderful baked goods, and a nice professional vibe to the place. There was always a line when we visited, but it moved quickly (and if you are able to get here in the early am, which for the CDMX is around 9 am, you will breeze right in.) Coffee was good enough to ensure we came back (granted, its served in normally tiny CDMX sizing) and the baked goods were wonderful. Growing up near San Francisco, where you can get conchas if so inclined to drive into the Mission, I never understood the appeal. But thats because the conchas I had access to in the US were always dry, a bit stale tasting and I could never get the appeal. Here at Maque, the conchas are delicious, fresh, not too sweet and come in three sizes and different flavors. Now, I understand. Loved their pyramid shaped corn bread (more like a corn pudding/soufle) and their chilaquiles and the beautiful red sauce they are served in, are solid. read more
