    Banana cream pie!!!
    John J.

Great service (friendly, helpful, attentive, professional) and delicious food. Old world ambience. The table bread is baked in house. Looks like a baguette but with rustic Italian flavor. Simply delicious! Fried oysters appetizer was very good - 3 large oysters with sauces. For $14 I think you should get 4 personally. Also had their "famous lobster bisque". It did have OK flavor, but the consistency was like pudding. Honestly, I was disappointed in it and wouldn't order it again. You get a delicious homestyle Italian salad to share family style with your entrées. I didn't realize that was coming or we wouldn't have had all the appetizers. The salad was fantastic! Definitely one of the highlights of the evening. For entrées, we had the shrimp and crab scampi with imported spaghetti and the stuffed shrimp. Definitely recommend the stuffed shrimp. Wasn't impressed with the scampi as the pasta was over cooked. One of the dessert options was banana cream pie made in house. It was so delicious and highly recommend. Worth returning just for that!

Old-fashioned diner experience. The interior is 70s-80s fancy. Food was good. Portions were generous. I got a half-order, and it was more than enough. My eggplant entree came with two sides, as did all meals. We all were served bread and salad (family style) as well. We enjoyed the bread. I was also impressed by the vegetable sides. The green beans were perfectly roasted and garlicky. The broccoli was fresh with garlic and lemon. Everyone in my party of four enjoyed their food. Those who got full orders had leftovers to take home. Service was efficient. Good option if you're in the area.

We came here on a Saturday night for dinner. Reservations were easy to make on Open Table. We were sat promptly and greeted by our server. We ordered drinks and wanted to sit and enjoy them before ordering our dinner. Our server was somewhat intrusive by constantly coming back and asking if we were ready to order. Sometimes people want to just sit and unwind before eating. We had to reiterate several times that we were not ordering until we finished our drinks. (minus one star). The rest of the evening was fantastic. The bread was served warm with a side of chopped roasted peppers in oil...delicious! We ordered the crab cake with side of homemade spaghetti and the cheese ravioli. Our meals were accompanied with a generous family style salad that was served prior to the meals. We would have liked more time between the salad and our meals. Our server never asked us if we wanted another drink after with our meals (minus one star). We had a nice evening. My only complaint and deduction for the stars is that we felt rushed. When going out to dinner we like to enjoy ourselves and our meals. Pacing is extremely important as we absolutely hate when our meals come out before we are even finished our salad. Otherwise, the food was good and our server was nice. We would try this place again. However, we would make sure to order our salad BEFORE placing our meal order.

Maplewood III is a timeless classic. This is simple, old-school Italian food. As summer kills in, you can always find their soft-shell crabs on the menu: fried, with a side of fresh, bright tomato sauce. Get the homemade pasta on the side. Service can be fast but the staff is welcoming and seasoned. It's a great spot for a quiet dinner with someone you love, or to celebrate a big event.

Ordered 4 takeout dinners on a Saturday night for pickup at 6pm. I arrived 10min early and paid. Everyone was friendly and upbeat. The place was busy. The girls were hustling to get people seated and get the numerous takeout orders ready to go. Dinner was delicious. My Joes Special Pasta was tasty and had fresh seafood. The portion was generous. My dad liked his veal- it had three pieces. He had requested to get veal piccata but had to stick to the menu. My mom liked the crab cake. There is one to an order. The entire order was packaged well. The salad had too much iceberg lettuce ratio to other greens and the iceberg pieces were too big. I was disappointed; it seemed cheap. The bread was ok. It came with butter and a dipping sauce which I liked.

Hmmm, over two years later -- came back to this restaurant for my mother's birthday dinner. My experience was not as pleasant as I remembered the last time. Made reservations on OpenTable for a table of 6. Called in advance to see if they can give my mom dessert and sing HBD (which they did; thanks Eddie)! Maplewood decided to sit our table of 6 right next to the restroom (in the back corner). People were constantly in and out; a lot of traffic by our table. When we realized the restroom was right there (after being settled for several mins) -- they stated that there's no other tables available. We were the only black people in the restaurant. Was not fond of how this situation was handled at all. We all wanted my mom to enjoy herself and not focus on any negativity. To be straightforward, the food here is decent but the atmosphere is not diverse and friendly. I will not be returning back to this restaurant.

    Untouched Fried seafood platter

Let me start by saying we've been dining her for years bringing our grown children here since they were babies. We sat at the bar. Had good service from Barry. The food was lacking. My husband and I shared seafood chowder. I've had this countless times here and it was terrible. The normal seafood was not in it. It was lacking and it was way too thick from excessive flour. The salad was good. My husband didn't like it because it had minimal vinegar & more oil. I prefer that to their normal ratio. Then we ordered the fried seafood platter. Wow! I do think it was left under heat lamps too long because it was way over done. It did take 25 mins to get after we had our bread, salad & soup. 3 others were served before us even though we were there longer.I have a picture to show the measly plate of fried seafood we got for $30. Not worth it. The place is old and needs to be remodeled. We won't be back.

Our group of 7 were seated in the middle of the dining room by the beer cooler & kitchen access. Conversation was impossible & every server kicked my chair because I was so close to the booth behind us they could not get around without tripping over me. Normally we love the food however, the Seafood Fa Diavolo is something to avoid. The crab is not lump, it is canned & shredded into the marinara gravy & so heavy on the linquine it was hard to taste the pasta. Service was adequate but once served she did not come back to ask if everything was ok because I would have sent my dish back & ordered something else. When someone did ask me why I didn't eat anything & there was a large heaping of tomato/crab gravy on my bread plate she thought I was joking when explaining how horrible it was. Anyway, we will return because we truly love the cheese steaks, mussels, gnocchi, pizza & other dishes. It was a special night & thought I would get something special. Didn't happen.

She instructed us to meet with the hostess inside to get a table on the patio. My wife was in a wheelchair and she told us she'd bring the hostess out. Very nice. We had a nice table on the patio, but I have to say the metal chairs weren't that comfortable. Our server, who was very pleasant, came over and took our order. For dinner my wife had the ravioli and I had the shrimp fra diavolo. Each dinner came with either soup or salad and bread. The salad was very good. Nice crisp greens and lettuce with tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, shredded carrots, and other fresh ingredients. The Italian dressing we got with it tasted good. The bread was nice and crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. A nice start to the meal. My wife enjoyed her ravioli. For me I got my meal over rice instead of pasta which was fine. The shrimp was cooked nice, but with the tails on. I know it's just a pet peeve of mine, but I hate dipping my hands in sauce to remove the tails. The sauce itself had one of the best amounts of spice from a fra diavolo i'd ever had. However, I can't say too much about the sauce itself. I wasn't a fan of the taste. Almost tasted like a sauce you'd get in a store. My biggest issue was at the end of the meal. Our waitress all but disappeared. I wanted to get our leftovers boxed and get the check. She wasn't even out on the patio for almost the entire time the singer took her break. Actually I barely saw any of the servers for awhile until the hostess came out and I flagged her down to get our server. Another issue that I wasn't too happy about is that the waitress couldn't take my card to pay for the meal. I had to leave my wife, who has alzhiemer's, alone while I went into the restaurant to pay at the hostess stand. Except for a diner, what restaurant requires you to pay at the hostess stand. If their prices were much lower I could see it, but making your patrons get up and pay was kind of stupid.

It was not an absolutely perfect dining experience, but I will give kudos where kudos are deserved. I will say, the outside of the restaurant gives way more opulent feel than what is on the inside. The villa looks like one out of Italy with statues on the property, a nice little outdoor area to run around (if you ask my almost 2 year old). The inside is casual, so no need to get overly dressed up like my family did (unless you want to). Fresh baked rolls and a pesto oil are set on the table to start. It was a bad day to be roll and oil at our table. While I was not incredibly overwhelmed by the dipping oil, the majority of our party was practically fighting over the little dish of green-oil-goodness. All of the entrees are served with soup or salad. The salad was a little sad, but it wasn't enough to ruin the review. I just assumed the balsamic dressing was a vinaigrette and not just straight acid burning your insides. The calamari was good! Perfectly crisp, accompanied by the perfect marinara for dipping. As for entrees, I went with the limoncello entree with chicken. The sweet lemon cream sauce, is unlike anything I've ever tried, and perfectly paired with asparagus, sun dried tomatoes and artichokes over linguini. Would order again, but also would likely order a different dish because there were so many delicious looking entrees across the table. I was most intrigued by the dishes that our party got with the cheese sacchetti. They are like most other cheese filled pastas but the shape and texture really gave you a lovely pop of cheese as you bite into it. The waitress was fine- not friendly, but also didn't mess anything up, aside from not bringing a dish for disposing shells from the seafood rissoto (she's forgiven).
