For example, if you order the gnocchi, you're given a choice of three sauces, one of which is the Rosa sauce. The portion of gnocchi is the same regardless of which sauce you choose, so I was surprised to see an additional charge for a sauce substitution without being told about it upfront. I was also charged $7 for a small cappuccino, which I found to be quite expensive. I appreciate transparency in my dining experiences, especially when I make a point to support small, local businesses. If there's an additional charge, customers should be told upfront. The pricing for dining here leans more expensive for what I would consider a mediocre dining experience. It's disappointing because we've always enjoyed Scarpinato's, but based on this experience, we will not be back. I'd encourage you to consider other dining options when deciding where to spend your money.

I had to ask for the specials menu myself, which was strange. The food took a long time to come out. We had to repeatedly ask for refills and extra bread just to hold us over. When the food finally arrived, it was disappointing and not very appealing. One dish was so bad we sent it back after one bite. Even then, the service didn't improve. We constantly had to flag the waitress down, and instead of being attentive, she was venting about her personal life and having random, unprofessional conversations. When the check came, we were still charged for the dish we sent back -- she only removed part of it. I also wasn't given the advertised special pricing and was told it didn't apply because I asked for a different container -- something that was never explained beforehand. We spent $100 on food we didn't enjoy, with poor service and an uncomfortable vibe. The bread was honestly the best part of the meal. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.
