All we wanted was a STAYCATION! SAFE CLEAN AND REASONABLE! NYE we booked an Embassy Suites, it was SO BAD they had bed bugs. We gave up, waited out the holidays and tripped over this place. We were still leary. If a 4-star Hilton brand could have bed bugs and look worse than a Motel 6, would we get the R &R we were desperately needing without getting Covid, Flesh eating bacteria, or worse...something that could bankrupt us trying to get rid of like louse or bed bug infestations... then what are the reviews of this place? Google reviews are always sus. But they had most recent reviews. On their website, much like Embassy, they showed a myriad of promises...this time not to amenities but to the promise of a COVID SANITIZED property. So...I come to my Yelp fam. And you guys haven't posted reviews IN MONTHS! So, I scroll and discover this place and a SERIOUS bed bug infestation a YEAR AGO! AND ISSUES WITH FIRE ANTS COVERING PEOPLE IN THEIR SLEEP! But...Covid. So I'm seeing on the website video clips of their cleaning process, pictures of it, a whole bulleted list... So, I was going to send my caregiver to check this place out and while she was on her way, and I was going to confirm cleaning process and make reservations. Spoke to Lina and she was so rude. I was listing off their cleaning system and she just kept saying, "no we don't. No. I don't know." I asked for a supervisor or concierge that maybe wouldn't be "so bothered by my questions." Finally, I asked her, "so do you guys still have the furniture removed from the lobby?" She said, "no we don't." Every question was a no, to the point I was like, "You REALLY don't want my money do you? I was trying to make a reservation, but maybe I should give it to the corporate hotels up the road!!" She ended with that I probably should and hung up. I don't know how this place stays in business I even tried calling again, and I got Jessica, tried to conference in my caregiver and their phone system wouldn't allow it...again, sus I hung up, called from a blocked number and they just kept hanging up. I think their business model of chasing away customers with abohantly rude behavior and attitudes this place WILL GO FAR IN CALIFORNIA !! Great staff. Comfortable rooms. Breakfast was the best I've had in a while!!! They had kimchi and soup on the side!!! And now I'm hooked on kimchi with scrambled eggs! Their coffee bar was great! A lot of parking spots. This hotel will definitely be my first choice when coming back to Santa Clara. read more

I have been staying here since 1998 and it has recently changed management and has gone downhill. The front desk person, while she was doing her best, clearly needed more training. Her customer service was sub-par and just didn't have the where with all to be up there alone. The room smelled and was given a room which someone was in. Luckily they locked the dead bolt so I didn't walk in on anyone, but my room key worked...meaning it turned green when scanned it, but the door was locked. This had always been one of my go to's when in sunnyvale, but I will be looking for a new fav. read more

Wonderful stay at a fantastic hotel!! This is an underrated gem that is in a great location, close by to numerous restaurants and shopping centers. They have a pool, hot tub, fitness center, complimentary tea/coffee/water in the lobby, along with breakfast in the morning and welcome snacks in the evening. Will definitely return! read more

During our stay at this hotel we had trouble sleeping from the lights in our room going on and off. A worker there did confirm deaths in the hotel so we do think it has some unexplainable activity. The first thing we noticed was the odd smell in the stair well and room. During the time in the gym the lights also would go on and off. Pros: free breakfast (I.e. make your own pancakes/waffles), decent 42" HD tv, fridge, keurig with coffee and tea, pool and hot tub, evening cookie, managers reception (I.e. appetizers, drinks), free WiFi, and free parking. Hotel staff are professional and nice. Cons: carpets are clean, but worn, hallway is hot, they don't clean everything everyday (just basics), hot tub is old, no bath tub, and they don't refill room coffee. My first criticism isn't the fault of management or staff; they didn't design or build the facility. However, when a hotel is of modern design -- as opposed to being a renovated old building -- it's inexcusable for it to not have vent fans in the bathrooms. The only way to prevent extensive fogging of the room and mirrors, when showering, is to keep the bathroom door completely open. Apart from lack of privacy (if an issue), it makes for a very chilly room to exit into, after the shower . . . unless you first crank up the heat excessively in the room (so that the bathroom is less cold). Some people, of course, also appreciate a fan for "odor" purposes. Bottom line: A modern hotel, like a modern home, has a vent fan in the bathroom. Now, on to what IS the fault of Maple Tree staff. On the third day of my group's 4-day stay, my toilet overflowed. (Yes, I do know how to use a toilet, and no, I did not overload it, flush "everything" in a single, big flush, or put something down that I shouldn't have. FYI, Maple Tree uses water-conserving toilets; they have a button for a "full" flush, and one for a "half" flush instead.) Luckily, it was mostly water . . . but enough of it on the floor so that it took a bath towel, and several hand towels, to soak it up. I left the towels on the floor and reported the matter to the front desk before leaving for the day at 8:30 am. I also said I'd need fresh towels. When I returned 5 hours later, the wet towels were gone, but only one bath towel and one hand towel provided. Several used towels that I'd left conspicuously draped over the shower door as a clear hint were still there. I also found a big, NOISY, blower drier in the middle of the carpeted room, blowing at top speed. No note from anyone, no message to call the desk. That thing was obviously there to dry a big patch of the room's carpeting (just outside the bathroom, and just inside the room's door). I hadn't allowed the carpet to get wet at all; housekeeping had obviously done one of two things: They either flushed the toilet to test it, without plunging it first, and it overflowed again; or, my guess, they plopped the pile of soaking wet towels onto the carpet. When I phoned the front desk, they were clueless. I later learned that they'd assumed I wanted to change rooms. (No, I didn't want that huge inconvenience, and it wasn't necessary. All that was needed to fix the easy problem would have been plunging the toilet, removing the wet towels, drying/cleaning the bathroom floor, and leaving all new towels as I'd asked.) I asked for more towels a second time, early the next day. Upon my return, still no towels. Last but not least, the HVAC system: The most bizarre I've ever seen. With chilly nights (rainy January days), we all used our heat, via the wall thermostat. Rather than just cycling on and off, like a normal heat system, it activated the AC when the room temp exceeded the temp selected. In other words, the vents of the wall unit (which cannot be aimed in any way) kept blowing cold air intermittently . . . not only into the room, but directly at the bed. Not a defect; this was by design. Breakfasts were fine. Standard free breakfasts; much better than a "continental breakfast", and better than other free breakfasts I've seen in other places, but nothing unusual or gourmet. And yes, apart from the stupidity and lack of responsiveness to my problem, staff we dealt with were friendly. read more

In March my dog came down with a sudden and severe infection in his leg. He was hospitalized for 2 days. When he was released he still was not able to use his back leg due to pain or climb the 3 floors of stairs we had to get to our apartment. I needed some place to stay while he got a little stronger. I called the hotel and got the manager who was very friendly. I told him my situation that I had a 50 lbs dog needing a first floor room for a few days to re-cooperate. He gave us a room on the first floor (only floor allowed dogs) near one of the back doors for easy access for potty breaks. I brought our dog's bed, his favorite toy, blanket and food/water bowls and we did hotel camping for 3 days. By the end of our stay my dog was able to do short walks, using all 4 legs. I brought my lap top so I could continue to do work remotely, while caring for my best friend. Their wi-fi worked well. There is food available for delivery if needed. I brought food with me, because they had a small fridge to keep it in. They also provided coffee in the room. The rooms were clean and it was quiet during our stay. We stayed here last night. Have stayed here before and have always been good. Abbey, who was working on Sat night, was extremely rude and showed 0 customer service. No welcome, and she seemed annoyed during check-in. Maybe she doesn't like nor need her job? Being in hospitality, you must possess excellent customer service skills. We were told by her that upon ck in, they only had 1st floor available, but yet we were given the second floor? Why say that if you do have 2nd floor? Our bathroom had ants when we woke up the next morning. Breakfast needs improvement. read more

My husband and I stayed here while in town for a 2-day Stanford Hospital appointment. Even though it's about a 25/30 minute commute, we went with this hotel because of their very generous Stanford patient discount. (Thank you for doing this!!!!!) The price includes free parking (most closer hotels charge extra) and a free breakfast. (The breakfast wasn't great but let's be honest, what hotel breakfast actually tastes good?) We had bought muffins and juice from the nearby Trader Joe's and ate in our room. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Our room was nice, spacious, and clean. It had a fridge, microwave, and mini Keurig. We will be back. My only suggestion (and maybe they already have this, I didn't ask) would be to have wheelchairs to get guests from their car to their room. Even the shortest distance can seem like miles to someone who just had a procedure. read more

This inn was the perfect place for me. It was near shops, restaurants, the Apple Complex and even the Winchester Mystery House. Plus it has a heated swimming pool and a hot tub. I love that the bathroom light turns itself on when you walk in, that there's a heat lamp inside to dry it out after a shower, and the toilet is dual-flush. Nearest ATM and Wells Fargo at Safeway. Nearby restaurants are Cabrito's, Marie Callendar's, and Spoons. No safe in the room. Minimum order for in-room dining is $15 and at least 45 minutes. The stay at this hotel was the worst by far! My wife woke up at 2am to find ants crawling on her and the bed we were sleeping in to be filled with ants!!! Yes I said it Ants! Not only were they on the bed, they were on the counters! This hotel needs to fix this problem, as I searched through the reviews I also see a previous customer had the same issue. This was so disgusting! Once we discovered the ants I called down to the front desk and explained what was going on and asked for a refund. The refund went smooth as if the front desk employee was used this sort of thing. I ended up leaving the hotel that night at 2am (we wasn't even at Maple Inn for 24 hours) and went up the street to the AC Hotel. I am so disgusted by how I was treated here at Maple Tree Inn. First of all, it's hard to even reach out to a manager and every time I call they say 'check in tomorrow, the manager will be in' this happened to me 3x. A maid walked in on me while I was sleeping at 9am 3/15. NO knock, just walked in, looked at me, said 'oh' then walked away. Check in is at 12pm my disturb sign was on. Even if it wasn't, the maid did not knock. This is completely RUDE and VIOLATED my PRIVACY. I finally got hold of a manager and said they would apply a discount and an email should be sent right away. It's been two days and have yet to receive a change on my charge. No one here wants to help me and I am so upset. I find this place very unprofessional and I will NOT be coming back. read more

Spent three nights at this gem of a hotel. Service was great, the room appeared to be renovated, the beds comfortable. The room was clean with a coffee maker, microwave and fridge. The breakfast was the best I have had at a Hotel, not the usual prepackaged egg omelets (which I suspect may never have seen a chicken.) I stayed at the hotel two weeks ago for 3 nights while in the city. Only today, I noticed that I forgot my external computer disk from the room, so I quickly called Front Desk. I told FDA that this was urgent and I would like to speak with housekeeping. Thankfully, Elizabeth - The housekeeping manager was extremely helpful and assured me she found it. This hotel was pretty decent. We stayed on Mother's Day weekend. Our room was clean and nice. The bathroom was nice as well. Their pool outside only goes up to 4 ft and they have lounge chairs and bbq that you can cook on. The breakfast and parking is free. They have a variety of breakfast items. It is situated on main strip of El Camino Real where all the restaurants and stores. I would recommend anyone who is in the san jose/sunnyvale area to stay here. read more

Stayed there for three nights and two days and we couldn't be happier with the accomodations. Near In and Out burger.... our first meal every time we go to CA. Free breakfast every morning with a lot to choose from. They have a pool that one could lounge around. Staff is accomodating and there's always somebody available for any concerns or questions. This spot is great! It's less expensive than most Bay Area Hotels (and has good deals on booking sites!) and it's in a good central location for anywhere you might need to go. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the showers are great! I like the layout of the building too- it's pet friendly ($20/pet/night) and there are plenty of spots to walk the dogs before bed. They serve snacks in the afternoon and evenings which we didn't get to try, but we did go for breakfast which was plentiful and while not **spectacular** we had fun sitting in the dining area which was pleasantly full, they were playing soccer on the tv, and our 2 year old got to eat chocolate cake for breakfast. They have waffles, space eggs (the dehydrated kind), sausage, juices, yogurts, bagels and toast, bananas and apples. Definitely would stay here again. read more

I don't quite get all the glowing reviews about this place.. This place is pretty plain. On my arrival the front desk guy seemed annoyed with a frown of contempt that I made him getup from his favorite TV show he was glued to on a Sunday afternoon... the dude could barely speak English (I had to ask him twice - "what?") and just couldn't be bothered to explain where my room was which resulted in me circling around for ages trying to find it. The room and bathrooms are decent. The bed was comfortable and the linen nice. The TV sucked gas. About 10 yrs old. HBO was so dark you could barely make out what was on the screen. There is no way to adjust the set, they lock you out. Another major annoyance was that every time you turned it on it would come on with a loud infomercial page of the hotel and about 6 clicks on the remote before you could actually watch a TV channel. In the morning when you just want to get up and flick on CNN this is a huge drag, especially when one is half-asleep. The "excercise room" was a joke and have not seen anybody use it, ever. The pool looked dirty and the water was lukewarm. Don't believe the glossy photos on Expedia of the breakfast presentation. It's nothing near it, even though better quality and with more variety than most other hotels. Make-your-own waffles, fruit, eggs (boiled and fried) sausages, warm buns, toast, etc. The only plus is location, near TJ's, Safeway, drug stores, Starbucks, Peet's, etc. read more

Nice place to stay if you're in the town of Sunnyvale. Convenient location next to a lot of stores and restaurants. The area seems fairly safe as well. Parking is free. Staff was very accommodating. I was staying here while my apartment was getting sprayed for bedbugs. I checked their rooms up and down and they were cool with this. The hotel is on the older side, but kept nicely. Staff exchanged linens for me and gave me extra shampoo without questions. They are pet friendly too! They have coin-operated washing machines and dryers on site. Breakfast is better than expected. I would usually grab a banana, muffin, and yogurt to go. They even had waffle makers and breakfast for their Asian business guests, like cup o' noodles and dried seaweed! The breakfast was abundant every time I went. I didn't have any trouble with the wi-fi. And they also had a good sized mini-fridge and microwave. How cool is that!? Great deal in Sunnyvale. He let us picked our room first time ever in the many places I've stayed that let the guess choose. I can't complain about this place. Fabulous hotel for a mini-break! Staff was courteous, parking is free, wifi works well with no stupid splash page -- enter your password and it "just works". Our room on the third floor was nicely decorated, spacious, and squeaky-clean, with lots of convenient power outlets, a fridge, a microwave, and a pod-coffee machine. Plenty of coffee supplied in a little cabinet. Each side of the splendid king-size bed had TWO reading lamps, plus a wall-mounted shelf/drawer and even more power outlets. No fighting over space to charge our phones! :) A closet contained an ironing board, hair dryer, safe, emergency flashlight, and plenty of hangers. The bathroom was amazing. Huge shower with glass doors, plenty of toiletries and towels, more power outlets, and squeaky-clean. Plenty of light fixtures throughout the whole room. Cable tv for channel-flipping. Big window that actually OPENS so we could have fresh air all night, and the air conditioner kept us cool on a hot summer day. Boyfriend said the free breakfast was great! Forced into a motel due to the Santa Cruz fire evacuations, I did not completely know what to expect since I had been on the road for over a week before I was able to apply for a motel voucher. With that said, this place has been simply a godsend: clean and cozy, quiet and respectful, plus a surprise food room service from Off The Grid, I never asked about or requested.
