1. Heating (and cooling system) was broken. 2. Fireplace also was broken. 3. DIRTY. 4. Hot tub hasn't worked in a looooonnngg time and its nasty because it's left out with rotting leaves. 5. No room service. 6. No shuttle service. 7. Front desk had a cold/flu/allergies/COVID and didn't have a mask on. 8. Their systems says I booked 3rd party when I booked through their system (I had proof). 9. No manager on site when problems arose. 10. Front desk limited in the assistance they could provide (which is basically nothing except that they left messages for the manager). 11. Not very customer friendly service for that particular evening, no apologies for the issues we reported (probably because they were not feeling well, in which case, they should not have been working). 12. We did finally get our issue resolved (its winter and I paid close to $350 for one night and I expect to be warm), but only after multiple, increasing assertive (not aggressive!) requests from the front desk staff to escalate to their management. 13. Front desk said there is "nothing" they can do about the lack of the basic amenity of heating...and there was no more rooms left (oh, but there was!). 14. I'll say it again: DIRTY. read more

If you want to eat complementary breakfast served with rotten milk you should stay here. This was one of the worst hotel experience of my life. For the price you pay one shouldn't have through go through the shitty experience I went through. The hotel barely has any staff and the carpets in the room were heavily stained, the soap dispenser in the shower had no soap, the hospitality was absent in the staff, no drinking water in the room, no refrigerator, no microwave. My poor kid tasted his cereals and said dad this smells foul and has a sour taste; little did he know that they had an entire milk dispenser containing rotten milk!!! read more

A Solid Choice for Bay Area Stays - Just Plan Your Breakfast The Grand Hotel was a really nice and comfortable place to stay. We loved the spaciousness of our room and the kitchenette was a huge bonus! If you're planning a longer visit to the Bay Area, this is definitely a great option. When we arrived, the lobby was beautiful, and the staff was very courteous, getting us our electronic keys quickly. We stayed in a villa-type suite that felt just like a one-bedroom apartment. It had a welcoming living room with a small couch, TV, and a fireplace. To the right, there was a convenient kitchenette, complete with a refrigerator, stovetop, sink, dishwasher, a good-sized microwave, and even a frying pan, a pot, and basic cooking utensils. The bathroom was generously sized, though it was a bit odd that there wasn't a ceiling exhaust fan to clear steam after showers. The bedroom had two super comfortable queen-size beds, a decent dresser, and another TV. One of my favorite things was being able to open the windows to let in the fresh air and enjoy the awesome scent of honeysuckle growing right outside. We stayed for several days, and the cleaning service was routine and efficient. However, there were a couple of downsides. First, don't expect a standard hot breakfast with eggs and bacon. They only offer coffee and a tray of bread slices with a large toaster, which was pretty disappointing. No pancake or waffle machine either. The other minor letdown was not getting room service one day. While not the end of the world, when I called the front desk for fresh towels, I was told they didn't have any, which seemed really strange for a large hotel. I wasn't thrilled with that particular staff member either. The location is excellent! It's right on El Camino, not far from Mountain View, making it a perfect central spot for exploring the Bay Area. Overall, I'd give The Grand Hotel a thumbs-up. It offers a very comfortable room experience, but the limited breakfast and that one issue with towels and a less-than-friendly front desk person were drawbacks. Worst hotel stays, completely unacceptable service and lack of basic cleanliness. Only one bathrobe in the closet, we requested another one, the front desk told us to wait until housekeeping arrived the next morning, but we were checking out the next day. There was only one wine glass in the room, called front desk and he told us to get it from the bar ourselves. Worst of all, when we pulled back the blanket at night, we found large blood stains on the bed sheet (please see attached photos) -- this is so disgusting and unacceptable. This is a beautiful hotel. The check in was very fast and the guy who checked me in was friendly. He told us there was a happy hour and there were 2 free beers or wines per person. They offer a continental breakfast. I wish they had better options for breakfast but all they had were bagels, toast, cereal and fruit and yogurt. Chocolate chip muffins as well. The room was very nice and it had a separate tub and shower. The AC worked really good. The bed was comfortable. The room also came with one robe to use. The location was close to Levi's stadium so I can definitely see us coming back to this place when we come for football games. Overall this was a very nice hotel. read more

I have been staying on and off at the Grand since 2023, and this weekend was my last time. And I left the property before my reservation was even over. "We have breakfast available" yeah if you count 3 bland cereals, 2 kinds of toast, and juice as breakfast. This weekend there was a "private event" held in the next room and they had eggs and sausage available...but no sign saying private event. So a few guests went and got breakfast before the guy hosting the event SCREAMED at us to get out...and management never said anything. But the final nail in the coffin was my AC never getting fixed. I told management on Saturday morning that my AC was broken, and the room never got below 74. Management said maintenance would take care of it around 9am. I get back to the hotel that evening to discover my room at 75°. I called maintenance and they came up and the maintenance worker changed the temperature to Celsius reading instead of Fahrenheit and claimed it was fixed. My room stayed at 75° all night and I slept with cool washcloths on my body all night as I have a blood disease that prevents me from sweating. I am VERY upset with The Grand and how they handle things. I've loved staying at their property, but unfortunately this will be my last time with them. read more

We have stayed here multiple times, and love the room layouts and service. Standard rooms are large and bathrooms are luxurious ( deep soaking tub with separate shower on tiled floors ) not your average hotel, feels like a Vegas hotel. Breakfast is great, hot breakfast with great options. Cocktail hour is a nice plus. The price is higher than average hotels in the area, but well worth the price. Location is great, close to stores, restaurant options. Staff is good, helpful and attentive. Highly recommend. read more

This was by far a terrible experience at this hotel. I will not recommend it to anyone. After getting checked in, I went into my room and noticed the bed was broken with a hotel in the mattress that sunk. I immediately went to the front lobby and asked to speak to the manager to get a different room. The employee was not helpful at all and then proceeded to give me the "manager's number." I then went to my room to call said number and realized he had given me the number to the lobby. The next morning I went to speak to the morning manager and still no manager was available for help. The breakfast offered was also mediocre and not what was advertised. And to make things worse, I was charged two different amounts despite getting similar rooms in two different reservations. Spacious but Definitely NOT Grand I booked the suite so we could have more room to spread out as we prepared to be guests at a wedding. Pros: 1. Water filling station 2. Spacious suite Cons (a few mentioned - sooo many): 1. No extra blankets in the room. There was one extra pillow. That is all that was made available. 2. One set of towels (two people should have at least two bath towels each) when checking in. 3. There is no full-length mirror in the room. The only mirror is in the bathroom, which is not useful if more than one person needs a mirror and the bathroom is occupied. Okay for business people traveling alone, not great for more than one person. 4. No microwave in the suite. Yes, the hotel provided one when asked, but if I am paying for a suite, that should be available without asking. Apparently, there is also a rental fee for the microwave. 5. HVAC system is not working properly. The fan setting should not be tied to the temperature. Properly installed systems allow air flow via fans without any temperature changes. The fan kicks on ONLY when there is heat or cool temp deviations. Any room can feel stuffy with stagnant air so that is why the fan and temp settings are separated on a thermostat. 6a. Breakfast NOT as pictured! Two-star hotels offer better breakfast options than this hotel. We had muffins, hard-boiled eggs, and croissants on the first morning, but none were available on the second morning. If you wanted something, you basically had to ask because they did not restock items automatically. Those who did not know what was available could not ask. No microwave in the breakfast area either. 6b. There are only tables for +4 people and a lounge area to eat; so if there are only two or fewer people, you are occupying a whole table or have to share a couch. 7. Hazards all around the hotel. Slipping hazards because there is no mat next to the ice machines and water filling station to avoid puddles. The extension cord for the toaster is not secured or taped down to prevent a tripping hazard. Pretty sure this violates the safety of the workers and the guests. 8. Only one side of the toaster works. It's less than $100 for a fancy toaster that works. Very inconvenient when more than one guest needs to use it. 9. Pool towels? If you only give us bath towels, there is certainly no way to use the pool and then shower without a dry towel afterwards. 10. Windows and outside of hotel need a good washing. Not useful to have floor-to-ceiling windows in your suite when they are dirty and cannot see the view well. 11. Light bulb in the bedroom was out. I haven't even checked in yet and I am already having a terrible experience... my fault for not checking Yelp first! I called to request early check in and was told this was a $40 fee. The check in for this hotel is 4:00 pm. That's already more than half of a day that you pay for and normal hotels have check in at 3:00pm. This has to be my 4th or 5th time staying here and I've never had an issue with this hotel. It's my usual accomodations when I visit friends in San Jose for the weekend through hotwire. Their rooms are huge and bathrooms are spacious. I love that they have a no party policy because it's nice and quiet. Their breakfast has been limited but there are plenty of options around the hotel as well but as far as getting coffee tea or cereal or pastries I'm satisfied every time I stay here. I just need to know what type of mattress they use for their rooms because the firmness level was just right. I slept like a rock. Will be staying again in the future. read more

The curtains to the balcony were broken, the fireplace was falling apart and only went on extremely low, the adjustment was knob was broken off, the radio didn't work, 2 of the lights in the room didn't work, on top of that there was a stain on the blankets and the mattress felt like it came off a pullout couch. This hotel is located in Silicon Valley, central to everything. It is a very nice and comfortable hotel. Our room is spacious or shall I say, huge with two queen size beds and a bathroom with two sinks, a tub and shower enclosure. Breakfast is included and selections are not the usual scrambled eggs and bacon. There's sautéed corn, sausage, broccoli and cheese soup, cereals, cut up fruits and juices. Another area offers waffles, breads and pastries. Plates are reusable china instead of disposables however cutleries and cups are disposables. There's a Flowater machine for filtered and great tasting water, something I value when traveling. Bar is open from 5-6:00pm offering complimentary drinks! Pool and gym is also available for guests. The only thing that got this review a 4 star is the thermostat in the room. Somehow we can't change it to a comfortable setting. It blows cold air even temperature is increased. read more

"Horrible Stay - Closer to 1 Star Than 3.5" Our experience at The Grand Hotel in Sunnyvale was a nightmare from start to finish. This hotel was listed as a 3.5-star property, but it deserves no more than 1 star. When we checked into our accessible room, the beds weren't even made. To make matters worse, the room was missing washcloths and towels, so we immediately had to go to the front desk to request them. A housekeeper eventually brought fresh sheets and a comforter, revealing they hadn't even switched out bedding from the previous guests. Disgusting. The worst part came later. After leaving in the morning to explore San Francisco and Silicon Valley, we returned late at night to find the room made up--but all the washcloths were gone. The only thing left in the bathroom was one hand towel. When we went to the front desk, they told us they were completely out of washcloths and towels and wouldn't have more until the housekeeper arrived in the morning. They refused to offer a refund, leaving us no choice but to check out at 11:00 PM. As if that wasn't bad enough, the "free breakfast" was a joke: just toast, cereal, and juice. This hotel is not good at all. When I first arrived they gave me my room and one of the keys didn't work. Then, I put all my clothes in several of their drawers and one of them wasn't working (probably from being so old). I decided to then take a shower only to find out that there was no hot water. I talked to the front desk and they were kind enough to change me to another room in the new building they have. What's else can go wrong right? Next day the elevator breaks so I now have to take the stairs to get to my room. This is the 2nd day and the problem hasn't been resolved. As the picture shows, even the public restrooms in the hotel don't work. Are you guys aware of all the issues the hotel has? Can't believe you guys charge outrages prices for your rooms and you provide this type of quality. I am very disappointed at this hotel and I don't think I would recommend it to anybody. read more

I was surprised to see the breakfast was included and there is a very pretty pool area where you can enjoy your morning coffee pretending you are on vacation in this chaotic area. My room was huge and the bed was super cozy. Loved the bed the most. Everything is pretty functional, nothing too fancy but definitely much better than other hotels I have stayed nearby. *First time review, bed bugs!!!!!!* I am absolutely mortified for having to write this review. My friend booked us here for New Year's Eve eve (Dec 30). All looked nice, clean etc, granted the eggs for breakfast were green and gross... I didn't see bed bugs but was informed by my doctor they live inside the mattress therefore not visible despite thinking they're hanging out on top of the sheets. I have not traveled for months and the one time I do, I get eaten alive by bed bugs! My friend is bit up as well. We know 100% they are from this hotel as we both only stayed one night and we went to our own homes the next day and started severely itching. I am quite literally bit head to toe! I have over 20 bites all over my body. What has me raging mad is the fact the front desk gave my friend the rigamarole back and forth because she's very sweet and polite. They called her yesterday, said they'd call back... said today they didn't see anything... ok? AC Barely worked and that was an issue. Strange people hanging around the parking structure. Then to top it off, I left a charger there and with the thousands of dollars I have spent there over the past 3 years, hotel management could not find itself able to mail it back to me for $2 even if I paid for it. Somehow I either need to setup getting them a prepaid label, which I have never done, or drive 200 miles to get it. What use to be a fantastic gem in the heart of Sunnyvale, has since degraded to a 2 star 3rd world country inn at best. We were placed in the 1 bedroom Villa in wing 5. One of their highest rooms available! Here is a list of issues we faced; 1. Rooms where extremely dirty - the floor had stands from God knows when, the counters were dirty, windows were filthy. The sofas had food stains and repelled in appearance. 2. The Villa wing 5 had NO exterior lights. We had to turn on the flashlight to get to our room. We asked the front desk about this and they said the maintainance knows about this and it will be fixed by next day. Next night, same thing. No lights. It felt very unsafe and wierd. I had to check into a hotel once in a 3rd world country in similar situation. It was not a good stay and that feeling resonated. 3. 2 towels per room, and that's it. We asked for more towels for day 2 and were told, they were out of towels. 4. No housekeeping for day 2, Sunday! 5. No one at the reception for an extended time. We called and called and called, no one picked up. Finally I walked over, and no one was at the desk at with a note, they will be back in 10. No one came back in 15 past. 6. Since we got the Villa, we wanted to sit on the patio. The patio was dirty full of cobwebs and dirt that had never been cleaned. 7. The breakfast got downgraded from a full hot and amazing to a cold, cereal, sugar pastries and coffee breakfast. Unfortunately, the hotel is not what it use to be. The door of the room wasn't working mid stay and I was left on the outside. It's been hours already and it's still not fixed and they didn't offer any solution. I have to stay somewhere else for the night. Waited 20 minutes in hotel. All my stuff locked inside. They didn't have a device to open the door. Then I waited for hours for a call in their side. Called them several times and they didn't answer. This got me upset. Name of hotel should be changed ... NOT GRAND! 1 - right off the bat we were disappointed by the sub-par bar ... cheap, bad red wine and not even a lime for a cocktail! Website states on-site restaurant ... there is NONE. Cockroach found outside door. Baseboards were painted by a child ... very poorly done. NO fan in bathroom ... resulted in buckling of ceiling paint. No normal drinking glasses but plenty of wine glasses. Not one piece of artwork or even a clock in the room. Chair on patio was broken and almost cracked my spine falling off! All in all, a very BAD experience. Not even close to being GRAND. read more

Pillow composition was amazing; sufficient loft, softness, & density. Linens were clean & as luxurious as described, topped with a fluffy, cozy, & insulating duvet. All in all: somewhat decent sleep BATH Huge washroom with double vanity, a deep soaking alcove tub, great tile work & towels big enough for swaddling a grown man . The shower is a bit of a coffin & feels like an afterthought, especially with the nondescript dispensers for bath products (can anyone comment on what's in this mystery brand??). The bathrobes are dated (TY group traditional collection) + overdue for an update; ours were frayed & no longer "plush" as described. The Bland Hotel. Truly friendly staff. Everything else subpar. After two three-day stays we will no longer give them our money. We stayed in a "villa" and most recently in a suite. Both mistakes. The "villa" is not noticeably different from a "suite" except for a small kitchen area. The suite is poorly furnished and oddly laid out. From our experience over three nights this weekend: THE BATHROOM: The shower is filthy. Slick, grimy floor. Black mold in the corners. The shower head has clearly not been cleaned, as you can tell from the build up on it. And you will bow to the low shower head! Bathroom sink stoppers don't open enough to drain. THE BEDROOM: The too-soft (old?) mattress made it hard to get out of bed and left us with sore backs. No easy outlets by the bed The clock radio is 20+ years old with a charging port from the 2000s. BREAKFAST: Went to breakfast at 9 a.m. on a Sunday morning and found: no remain scrambled eggs, no coffee, no fruit. But carrots and cauliflower. THE ROOM IN GENERAL: Our suite was an oddly laid-out corner room with a lot of empty space, dark, and sparsely furnished. The TV area is dark with no overhead light. You have to climb on the couch to reach the only lamp and turn it on or off. The little table was dirty. AND FINALLY What the heck is a hotel doing with daily issues of the ultra-right-wing Epoch Times in its lobby? (Wikipedia: "The Epoch Times is a far-right international multi-language newspaper and media company affiliated with the Falun Gong new religious movement.") SUMMARY A grossly overpriced hotel with dirty and odd rooms that makes one wish for a Super 8 or Motel 6. At least with those there no pretense of anything but an old bed. read more

I really loved how roomy the hotel rooms are. Spacious rooms, clean and quite. The bed and pillows are a little soft for my liking. Pool and and hot tub was open as well. No major complaints regard the breakfast bar and yes the breakfast bar is open. The eggs and coffee was delicious! My recommendation will be to the reception desk with all the ladies that were less than genuine. Myself and 4 other guess in front of me were checking-in on July 9th and the ladies had major attitude. Each guess was speaking among each other because it took about 30 minutes to check-in with 4 groups and were 3 Grand Hotel staffers behind the counter. The young man staffer was excellent. The point is this check in should have been much faster....... To the manager of The Grand Hotel here is what I noticed with one of your guess on the morning of July 11th. "Guess approached desk when we were checking out and she stated she was locked out of her room and the staffer stated I can't give you another key card with major attitude, my manager want allow it. I have already given you 4 keys already and she was an older lady. What's up with the lack of respect for the elderly. My opinion to handle this situation would have been please bring back your deactivated cards so I can reprogram them again due to our card key policy." Done...... The guess in front of me did not have to show I.D. at all for check-in maybe they are VIP members? I was next in line and they asked for the other guess waiting to come up and they mention he is next and I think this was the manager because she was not in uniform. Unbelievable! I guess I'm just standing here.... I purchased my room through Expedia and voluntary show my I.D. There is a $200 dollar incidental fee, ok. Ready to slide my card and I need to see your I.D. again, really........ This perfect get-away weekend is not starting off well at all. But, again the room stay was good and almost purchased one of the Viilas but wanted to check things out first for the next future visit but now I will pass based on the principle. The sink drainage for room #310 is cloaked but still did not take away from the stay. To The Grand Hotel skip the hotel room service for now if its not going to be an optional for the entire day! read more

Not sure why I haven't written a review for this hotel yet. It's super cute, the customer service is great. The bathrooms are spacious, and free breakfast. They also offer complimentary apples for guests, and it kind of reminds of an old school hotel. It's also very clean. The only feedback I can give is I think the property needs to have someone HVAC look into their AC system. It smells kind of dusty when turned on. read more

This hotel looks great on the website but is awful in real life. The Villas are not as pictured on the website. Missing rugs, missing smoke detectors, fireplaces that don't work, and stains on the couch. The mattress was 24 years old, time to replace. Apparently, they don't have a manager on staff during the weekend to resolve these issues. The staff is nice but not adequately trained. If you value your life, stay out of the elevators. They have not been inspected in a long time. We did receive a refund for the problems, but it was still a terrible experience. read more

Such a shame this facility is so poorly run and managed. The rooms are in some disrepair - broken heating, bathroom door doesn't close, shower door doesn't close. The bathtub interior was painted and is scratched. The shower is weak. Cabinet doors without handles. Staff is very limited and unhelpful. Breakfast has been reduced to cold pastries, toast, etc. The mattress in our room had been flipped over on the under side and housekeeping made it up as if it was normal. The only way we discovered the problem was by removing the linens to put a blanket under the bottom sheet for padding. They do not have mattress pads and evening staff will not get spare bedding. The rooms are large and the location is good, so it's very unfortunate. read more

Happy with our stay. Unfortunately the jacuzzi is closed. The size is very good. Heads up the fireplace room only gets warm in the living room. The bedroom is the same temperature as outside so beware. read more

I was given a villa where there was dog shit in the room! I immediately demanded to change the room. I was given a villa on the 2nd floor. There is no elevator to go up to the villa on the 2nd floor! A huge staircase. I have 3 large suitcases. No one helped me to lift the suitcases to the 2rd floor. I had to argue with the receptionist so that someone would help me with the suitcases, because there is no elevator! I checked into another room where there were dirty pillows and towels! They do not change bed linen and towels!!!! Also No towels at the pool. I waited for a towel for a whole hour, but they never brought me a towel! The same worker who refused to give me pool towels at 5pm tried to steal my food delivery at 11pm 10.06.2024. I tried to talk to the manager. He is not in the hotel at 12 pm on Monday! Where can the manager be on Monday, besides his work? read more
