After visiting a few different clinics in the Seattle area, this veterinary care center has by far been our favorite. The whole team is very attentive and kind, and you get a sense that they actually care about your pet vs. visits feeling merely transactional. Some reviews have read that they're very money-oriented or will try to squeeze every penny out of you, but I personally haven't experienced anything like that after being a client for almost two years now (8 visits total for 2 pets). I recently brought my cat in less than a month after her annual exam and they only charged half price for a "brief visit" which was a pleasant surprise. From my past experiences, exams have always been one flat charge. They do mark up their Rx medications quite a bit, but my understanding is that's just industry-standard, especially coming from an independent/standalone practice. It's unrealistic to expect them to be able to compete with Chewy, Costco, etc. And they've always given me the prescription to take elsewhere when I asked and never made me go directly through them for the meds. Service and communication has also never been a problem. I've emailed them and called over the phone and every experience has been perfect. Another thing I appreciated about this place is how seriously they took COVID precautions. Even now, patients are asked to stay in their car if it's just a technician visit, and masks are still required for those who come inside. Not only are they cautious, but they did a really great job at streamlining the process so that it's easy to follow and efficient. Bonus: they mailed us a cute little welcome package after our first visit! Before Maple Leaf we were in California and loved our vet there so much, we didn't think we'd find a new vet that would compare, but we were wrong. Maple Leaf Veterinary Care Center truly has lived up to our hopes and expectations.

I'v been bringing my dog to this clinic since 2021. However, my most recent visit has left me deeply disappointed. Half years ago, my dog underwent an ultrasound appointment. Unfortunately, what was meant to be a routine procedure turned into a distressing incident for my dog. The shaving process carried out for the ultrasound resulted in severe clipper burns and cuts all over her belly and sides. After done the ultrasound, my husband picked her up in a rush and went back to work, he didn't notice anything wrong. Neither the technicians nor the doctor informed my husband about this serious issue when he picked her up. It wasn't until I returned home from work at 6:00 PM that I noticed that all the fresh wounds.... Seeking resolution and an apology, I reached out to the clinic, only to find the situation handled in a disappointing manner. the doctor just complained about the clippers...When I expressed my desire for the staff responsible for the incident to make an apology, I was met with a lack of understanding and empathy at the front desk. The response I received was disheartening, as I was told that the only apology note available was from the doctor who was not directly involved in this incident. As a pet owner who deeply cares for the well being of my furry companion, I find it incredibly disappointing that this clinic failed to take responsibility for the actions of their staff and provide a proper apology. The emotional distress caused by this incident continues to linger...

I took my 13 year old cat in for a checkup and they said he's in perfect health. I feel like that should mean in ever aspect. A month later he died at the animal hospital from kidney disease, heart failure, blood clots, stroke. I've had him since I was 9 years old. I feel like a clinic should be more thorough with their screenings before they say "perfect health." I've never had to endure any sort of death in my life and he had to go. The only constant in my life for 13 years.

Eye infection required drops. (Turns out it's not that easy getting a photo of a sad cat on the move.)

My vet at the Maple Leaf Veterinary Care Center in Seattle set a high bar in terms of what to expect for vet care. I took our family cat here from her first vet appointment as a tiny kitten, all the way till she was a six year old and felt that the care she received here was caring and effective. Our cat, like many, can be nervous and a little grouchy at the vet, but here she went along for the ride for every visit and had positive experiences. The vet always took the time to pet her, talk softly and calm her down and then gently and stealthy went on to do a very through exam. Treatment was effective: from treating an abscess after a scary scuffle with a neighborhood cat-bully, to eye drops to fix a painful infection, things went smoothly and the vet's care proved straightforward and effective. An added bonus: their offices are new, beautiful, and modern. They recently moved to a remodeled facility on the main drag in quiet Maple Leaf. Their front desk staff is professional, friendly and efficient. We never had any problems here, just six years of good experiences, until near our last appointment, when extra tests were ordered at the site of a vaccination after it had failed to heal and was causing her pain. When I called the business to question having to pay for extra tests at the site of a vaccination they had given, they took full responsibility. The vaccination had been in her shoulder blade rather than a hind leg, per their usual protocol, which caused some confusion on their end, but they offered to cover the follow up appointment and testing. Businesses are like humans: we make mistakes. The fact that they addressed the situation, restored my confidence. If you come here you will get good care, but if anything does come up, they are willing to hear your concerns, take action and make adjustments. That's worth a lot in my book.

Gary loves going to the vet!!!

Considering how busy, Urban Animal-Capitol Hill is, that says a lot. I didn't realize that you might have to wait hours before being actually seen but they made the long wait easier for me by working me in. My cat has had chronic issues with diarrhea and vomiting. I did not get a hard-sell or any unnecessary tests. Instead, they recommended a very no-nonsense strategy of changing his diet, metronidazole (in case of a bacterial infection--I've used it myself while traveling in South Asia!), and10 packets of Purina Fortiflora, a probiotic. The latter two were very reasonably priced. I also got a "sanitary shave" for my cat (it was expensive but worth it). I wanted to see how they would handle my sometimes ferocious orange tab but I ducked into the restroom and they started it without me--it only took probably 2-3 minutes! I was impressed by the vet tech's ability to "handle" my cat. Cat whisperers? It is such a relief to not have to have go back for multiple visits (I don't have a car! It's difficult to get my cat into a carrier and then wait for a Uber or Lyft!). I find their approach quite reasonable and worthy of confidence.

Then the doctor's assistant came in and took notes on what was going on. My doggy even went up to her and she didn't even acknowledge him. Then came back with a quote where she placed an amount for medication at $1000. When I questioned that, she said she accidentally put an extra "0" but wanted me to sign it anyway. I told her I will after she fixes her error. She didn't like that and her face said it all. She then paraded my dog that was in a lot of pain, to fix this instead of caring about him. Then the doctor came in and she was lovely. She was very thorough and informative. She actually showed concern for my dog and me. Being a vet showing no compassion to my dog rather it's almost time for us to close. I felt that was their big concern and not my dog. Not one member showed any concern or even acknowledged him. Truly disappointed and I will not be returning to a place that should love animals but didn't show it except the doctor.

From the moment we walked in, the staff were all kind, quick, and super understanding. A special shout-out to Dr. Erica Anderson. She was incredible. Not only did she explain everything thoroughly without up-selling (which I really appreciated), but she also took the time to make sure my little guy felt safe and calm during the whole visit. Dr. Anderson quickly diagnosed the issue, gave us a treatment plan that actually worked, and followed up to make sure everything was healing as expected. My corgi is back to his sassy, zoomie-loving self, and I couldn't be more grateful. Seattle has no shortage of vet clinics, but Jet City definitely stands out. Today I had to say goodbye to my dog. Her name was Daisy…read more Like everyone, I very much love my pets. But I think our story is a bit different. When I was 19 years old, my future wife and I started our pet family. We started with 3 cats (O'Reilly, Hairy, and Buddy) all within about a year or two. After college we decided one morning to get a dog. We went to some random house on the west side of Cleveland that was advertising a litter of puppies and we found Daisy. We were ill prepared for what we were about to go through. She proved to be a rambunctious, loud, and thoroughly trouble-making puppy. We'd regret her lack of formal training for years to come. Before leaving Cleveland for Seattle we took on one more cat, Cici. The car ride across the country would prove to be the first of three for our team of seven. Daisy, despite being a relentless trouble maker, was our girl. She loved the car rides, swimming in rivers and oceans, traveling with her family, and above all else...eating....everything. She had personality. She would love you, lie to you, yell at you, get mad at you, thank you, and protect you. She was not typical. As my team got older, I came to realize that I'd made a huge mistake by getting everyone all at once. It meant I would likely lose them all in a short period of time. I was unfortunately right. A few months ago, we experienced our first loss with O'Reilly. She was arguably the meanest cat on the planet but we loved her deeply regardless. Saying good-bye was beyond terrible as my instinct is to fight relentlessly to keep this team together at any cost. You just can't stop it sometimes and Barry & Jenya Katz have helped us come to terms with this reality of life. I am very grateful to them. They told me when we'd done as much as we could and they were right. When I woke up this morning, I knew Daisy was spent. My once energetic and rambunctious pup was now ready to sleep. Jenya came over to my apartment with her wonderful tech Jessica and helped me say good-bye. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do but they have become like family to me and shared my grief. They know my team by name and they care as I do that they each feel love and comfort to the last minute. I know this is a bit heavy for Yelp but pet owners who truly care will appreciate this story. These people have helped us keep this team together more times than I can count. The clinic staff and veterinarians have not let me down. They haven't let my team down. You should trust them with your team too.

I'm an established patient, they know me and my partner (and my cat!). Unfortunately, asking for an update on labwork yesterday culminated in an absolutely bizarre phone conversation with one of the receptionists that ended with "Look, we have lots of other patients. We can transfer your records to another vet if you're unhappy." And then hung up. That is, without a doubt, an insane thing to be ok saying to a client. I just wanted to know whether I needed to postpone my upcoming appt to wait for the labs! I no longer feel like there will be a good standard of care so I'm taking them up on the "find a new vet" threat. My 17 year-old cat gets to re-establish care elsewhere. This absolute catastrophe could've been avoided with the sentences: "Sorry about that, you should've heard back today but we are now expecting it early tomorrow. I wouldn't reschedule your appointment." Instead I got "I don't know what's happening with your pet. Do you want to reschedule the appointment or not?" Maybe things will work out for you here, for me they did for a while, but also maybe they'll rudely show you the door when you ask for an update on your pet. I won't risk that level of volatility in my pet's health care. I don't think you should either.

We kept an eye on them for a a few days hoping that after some water and a little time to rest, the bird would find it's way to the sky again, but unfortunately, this was not the case. After reaching out the Bird Clinic of Seattle, it was discovered that this specific type of bird couldn't be treated by them and they suggested reaching out to a local vet for euthanization. Easy, right? This is Seattle - there's TONS of veterinaries here... After calling no less than half a dozen vets within a 10 mile radius of our home who refused to help (including the vet we USED to take our cats to who continually fat shamed them), we called Atlantic who graciously said they could assist AND offered same day service. We put the bird in a shoebox and brought it over. I asked the front desk person what form of payment they preferred and the response was, "Nah. There's no need to pay us for this kind of service. Thank you for doing the right thing and bringing this poor bird in." Fast forward, my big guy cat woke me up a few months ago growling very early in the morning. It was obvious he was in a lot of pain, but our regular vet clinic didn't open until 9am vs. Atlantic who's phone lines open at 7am. I called them and immediately got an appointment for him to be seen later that afternoon. Frankly, the quality of care and genuine kindness that Dr. Monahan and her staff continually show us is incomparable to that of our last vet. I have bumped into vet techs at Atlantic whom I've never met, but express so much joy when my big guy cat shows up for follow ups. Everyone from the doctors to nurses to the front desk folks are always thorough and wonderful and we've never had an issue getting an appointment on the same day. We decided to move our cats here for primary care permanently. If you're looking for a vet that's happy to answer questions, not fat shame your pets, come up with health solutions and are generally an outstanding group of people who deeply care for animals and love what they do, this is the place.
