my dog had his dewclaws ripped out after buying and wearing Ruffwear shoes on a walk…read more I brought this information to the store the following day, that he was selling a flawed product that harms animals. He told me he can't afford to lose $75 to return them. They were in the same condition as i bought them! Says he can only return dog shoes if they were worn indoors. Like dog shoes were made to be worn inside the house..... And no mention of that on the receipt.

Our dog was almost dead…read more We took our dog to "Especially For Pets" on 16th Ave for grooming and she was almost dead after we had taken her home and discovered her condition. The store denied any wrongdoing. Half of her body was bruised up. She could not move for days and she had difficulities breathing. In addition, she barely had a hair cut despite $80+ service charge. The hair was still long and uneven. It was obvious that our dog probably fell from the table and the technican stopped cutting her hair. However, the store denied any wrongdoing or they did not even apologize. We are dog owners of 13+ years and never encounter something so horrible!!! Will NEVER take her to this place again. We will never trust their technicans. Careless behaviour, incompetence and worse of all, they did not apologize or admit wrongdoing.

Fergie likes it, so I like it!…read more The staff here, especially Sheena! are amazingly kind, friendly and put Fergie (my big black pug baby) at immediate ease. They carry all kinds of pet products, and everyone is fairly knowledgeable on what will work best for yours. Love also, that despite being a locally owned business, their prices are on par or cheaper with their big box competitors. Not to mention all the furry friends I make when I come here! Hello dogs! It's nice to meet you. :D Got a dog that hides under the bed and bares his (or her) teeth when the clippers come out? Bring him to Sheena, she's a total boss. Would come here more if I lived in the area, but if you live near Edmonton Trail in the NE... well, why haven't you been here yet?

Alistair is a pig, and I love him! My first visit to this…read morestore was on a special day...it was Alistairs birthday. He was upfront in the store with a wee party hat on..( have to say though I dont like when people dress up animals, but this didnt seem like too big a deal for Alistair) and they were giving away crave cupcakes. There were streamers, Alistair was snuffling away and cheerfully receiving pats from his admirers. So THAT was my introduction to this little place. LIke most mom and pop pet food stores you will find that the prices are higher than at somewhere like Petsmart etc. It is understandable as they dont have the volume of sales. The products they do have though are excellent, wonderful products for your beloved pets. It is clear that the owners of this store love animals and want nothing but the best for thier customers pets. I will admit that I tend to go to Petsmart, but do like to pop in here to pick up a few special treats for my kitties and see Alistair. It is so cool to have a pig in my neighborhood and to go to a piggy birthday party is something that I have for the memory books.. Long live Alistair, mom and pop businesses and all those who love animals. oink oink.. ( that was Alistair)

Besides being an independently owned pet store, the more appealing attraction PN has is its…read moreresident pig Allister. Allister's pen greets you at the door and according to his father, the owner; Allister has a Facebook page of 400 friends. More FB friends than I, Allister. The store is a very modest, simple establishment and it is run by a very likeable fellow, he took the time to bring Alli from the back of the store to meet me and they both showed me his trick of sitting down for a treat. Alli tried to sit again for another treat but his papa was all to savvy. One treat is enough, now don't be a pig about it. PN carries mostly supplies for dogs and cats and the prices there seem quite reasonable, it seems to be a large store and equipped with toys, food as well as a nice section of sleeping accessories for your furry friends. So yes this yelper likes PN and especially her new friend, I just hope he doesn't reject me on FB.

I was on a quest to find a new food for my dog since my usual isn't coming across the border…read moreanymore, so Fairplay was a new choice for me. The store is huge! They have a great variety of toys, more than other premium stores I have been too. There is a good selection of leashes and collars. They have a great stock of bones and bulk treats. I got a great deal on 2 massive rawhide bones for $10! They are well stocked with dry and wet foods, although I didn't see any raw food. They had a huge section for cats too! No one initially asked to help me, so I looked at the dog food and grabbed one I thought would be good. When I went to the counter the lady asked if I found everything I was looking for. I told her what I was looking for and asked if the food I had chosen was good. She said it was, but suggested another food since my dog has a sensitive stomach. She also suggested a probiotic powder that you can put on your dogs food, she uses it for her dog. I had never heard of the food she suggested or the powder but together they sounded like what I needed. I was very happy with the overall selection that Fairplay offers! The prices seemed to be decent for toys, treats and food. I will definitely return to Fairplay for my pet supply needs!

They also have an exceptional range of food and dispensers for wild birds. The staff are very present and helpful compared to a big box pet store, without being pushy. The place has high ceilings, lots of light, great colour and has a delightful animal mural gracing its upper walls. Suzanne the owner was extremely friendly and personable and Ola her Pug was not camera shy in modeling some of the stores fashionista apparel, in my photos you will see Ola sporting a tartan cap, she posed for several minutes for me then continued to attack my face and camera lens with her tongue. The store carries the cutest pet jackets and sweaters, beds, bowls and dishes; they even carry hats and ties!!! Really they have a couple of rows to totally pimp up your little best friend with fashion bling and best of all it is quite affordable. There are so many reasons to come here, first of all the wonderful colourful and chewable toys that you see when you come in. The natural and organic pet food. There is even a raw food line that is frozen so that you can take home and it is fresh. They even have a special line of pet food that has been processed in the "Slow Bake" manner. So much of the selection looks good enough to eat, plus I found the store so well organised and so nice to look at. Suzanne prides herself in only choosing the best products for your little critters and it reflects in her store. The Barking Lot Pet Store offers a lot to bark about.

Really disappointed in Atomic Dog and their customer service. I called to ask a simple question…read moreabout why our regular charge was increased and not communicated to us, and also to give some basic feedback on the last groom my dog had. Not only did the receptionist speak down to me in a really condescending way but she called a few hours later after I had already rebooked my next appointment and said we were no longer welcome back as a client. I asked to speak to the owner because I am honestly shocked, I was super polite during our conversation and as a person who gets my dog groomed every 6 weeks consistently wanted to ask some simple questions and make sure we were on the same page. It took a number of phone calls and me actually going into the shop to speak to the owner. They have definitely lost us as a customer but wanted to forewarn others.

It helps that our dog is very good and calm when being groomed, making their job a lot easier. We also find that Jill often has very helpful and sound advice when it comes to dealing with issues you might have with your dog.
