Disappointed by misrepresentation, lack of integrity, unreasonable pregrooming expectations and they are not listed anywhere on website, in store or verbally communicated prior to grooming . Overall a lack of transparency. I brought my dog in for grooming after our first groom went well. I was referred to this salon by our dog sitter who had had another pet parent use them for their large (Bernese Mtn dog), were referred to Tanis. My dog is a smaller Samoyed(40 lbs) with tons of fur of course. My dog had been brushed by our doggie sitter on the Wednesday prior to her bathing appt two days later on Saturday. Dropped puppy off at 12 pm, I received a call that our dog had been bathed and was done two hours later and could be picked up in 20 min. The caller, let me know I was charged an additional $25 dollars because "she was matted and it took two staff to groom her." I paid $181.50, incl. tax and tip, not a problem if she was matted but she was not.
I asked where she was matted and was quite shocked. I've never had the experience over the 27 years I've had Samoyed's in my life to be groomed in that record time, but, ok, let's give them the benefit of a doubt. When I came to pick up my fur baby, I was told by the groomer who stated she had to charge extra because the owner, who groomed her stated bc it took two people to groom her and she was matted and they"couldn't put a comb through her fur." I paid the $150 plus gst and tipped them 15% for the work they did, which was a good job by the looks of it. The owner wasn't there so I left a message for her to call me. I called a second time and spoke with the same woman who received my payment and let her know that I was unhappy with the charges and the fact that my dog had been in good shape coming in and not matted. The owner left a vm for me stating that yes, "she had been brushed, and that brushing and combing are two different things." She also stated in her message that my dogs undercoat was packed and that's why it took so long.?" I'm confused about the fact that I would be bringing my dog to be groomed, and the expectation of this groomer that she already be groomed, combed out so they can bathe her? It didn't take long, I could understand if she had been there for 4 hrs which is the usual give/or take time. It's hard enough to leave one's pet with an unknown and new grooming service. And then to have a hidden expectation which is unreasonable (FOR THE GROOMER TO BE ABLE TO RUN A COMB RUN THROUGH MY DOGS FUR BEFORE GROOMING HER) AND THEN CHARGE FOR THAT EVEN THOUGH THEY DIDN'T SPEND EXTRA TIME ON HER.).
