Really disappointed in Atomic Dog and their customer service. I called to ask a simple question about why our regular charge was increased and not communicated to us, and also to give some basic feedback on the last groom my dog had. Not only did the receptionist speak down to me in a really condescending way but she called a few hours later after I had already rebooked my next appointment and said we were no longer welcome back as a client. I asked to speak to the owner because I am honestly shocked, I was super polite during our conversation and as a person who gets my dog groomed every 6 weeks consistently wanted to ask some simple questions and make sure we were on the same page. It took a number of phone calls and me actually going into the shop to speak to the owner. They have definitely lost us as a customer but wanted to forewarn others. read more

We take our standard poodle (she says she is FAR from standard) for grooming here about once every 2-3 months and have been doing so for a few years. We've been VERY pleased with the results. It sometimes varies as groomers there change, but we've never been dissatisfied, and if there's anything we don't like about it they're always happy to have us bring her back to fix it up. It helps that our dog is very good and calm when being groomed, making their job a lot easier. We also find that Jill often has very helpful and sound advice when it comes to dealing with issues you might have with your dog. She's got a lot of experience with dogs, having owned them for years, and is very practical when it comes to training advice. read more

AtomicDog - One of her first grooming at AtomicDog - Pet Groomers Near Me - Calgary, Alberta

See all

I found Atomic Dog while walking in Bowness. Our regular (fantastic too!) groomer lives very far away and I'm back at work so schedule has changed. Met Jill and loved her Swarovski collars. She even offered to make 3 to let us choose. So booked a grooming so I could pick up collars at the same time. Hoping to choose one this visit but sadly they weren't ready for us. I understand she's very busy with a new project. Sylvia (groomer) is lovely! She's calm, gentle and truly takes pride in what she does. Incredible cut on our Yorkie. I felt pure shame I was told my puppy was poorly behaved. I was embarrassed and mortified - we love him but his anxiety clearly got the best of him. It made me uncomfortable at pick up. Perhaps a call next time would feel better? I hope the $20 fee went directly to Sylvia. This is a very cool business and Sylvia is awesome! read more

I took my new pup there because they offer a first cut at a discount for 50.00. Not only did they not clip her they destroyed her appearance by making her face look like Frankenstein as my friend said . They cut a bit around her feet, cut her nails and used a clipper on her face brazing her nose. Even though they did not clip 1 hair of her body because "groomer reads dogs body language and said she has a lot of anger" but charged me for the whole cut. Now I have to take her to another groomer to get the job done. read more

Great spot. We go there weekly. I have seen amazing results from the bubble bath they offer - the only one of its kind in Calgary - no detergent of any kind. My dog likes the freezer section. read more

Love this place! Friendly staff and great groomers. My dogs don't mind going for their grooms at all.

AMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZING! Oh my gosh! I have been taking my dog to groomers his whole life many times a year. NEVER has he come out looking that great - no matter where we go. He is a furry little munchkin - a huge huge ball of fluff. So I know he is hard to groom. He is always hot and itchy, so we regularly take him to groomers - which he hates. He comes back acting traumatized and sad, and still pretty hairy. We took him to ATOMIC DOG because we heard great things. He came out FREAKING adorable, happy, and its been almost two weeks and he is still smiling. WILL NOT go anywhere else. I advise you dont either! read more

Not long ago we booked a groom session at Atomic Dog in Bowness in Calgary for our 48 pound aussie doodle. I checked the price with the shop owner and she informed me that a bath and tidy would cost approximately $90.00 (yikes!!) and a full groom would run $120.00. She indicated that the cost was dependent on the condition of the animal's fur. Two days before our appointment, at the owner's request, I took our dog in for the owner to check out the length and possible matting of the dog's coat. She ran her comb through the dog's coat and thought that his coat was not bad, at all. Two days later we brought our dog into the shop for his groom session. The owner said she would call us and let us know if they encountered any problems with the grooming. If they did encounter any difficulties, she would call me on my cell phone and I could, at that time, opt only for the bath and tidy. When we picked our dog up, the owner indicated that the groomer was unable to do the grooming and only did the bath. In part, I knew that was a possibility, so even though we did not get phoned, I wasn't totally surprised. He looked nice and clean but when we got him home, the hair in his ears had not been plucked out; nor had they done a 'bum tidy'. His nails had not been clipped. The charge was $120.00 which I had been told was the cost of a full groom. Upon questioning the charge, the owner of the shop claimed that the upcharge resulted because the groomer had to take a much longer time to do the bath and blow dry because of our dog's thick coat. It was not until we got home, and after further inspection, we realized that the other tasks promised with a bath and tidy were not done. I did not return to the shop and talk to the owner about my concerns. However, it was very disappointing to be charged such a large sum of money for an incomplete job. No, we won't be back. read more

I discovered Atomic Dog through DINO Rescue, as I am currently fostering and rehabilitating one of their dogs. Jill has been amazing with Ben; she is patient and kind, she's very gentle with him when it comes to trimming his nails, and Ben is always a much happier boy when he comes out of his special micro bath. It can be difficult to reach someone during business hours at times, but the results are always worth the effort. read more

Massive thank you to Jill and Lisa for looking after our doodle with care, compassion and precision after she got into a burr bush. I've never seen a dog to happy to have a tight cut. They stayed after hours to help our distressed dog and for that I will always be grateful. Thank you ladies! You're the best! read more

Have brought both of our dogs to Atomic Dog and they have both been treated like family there! The owner is very kind and honest! She made us feel very welcome in her store and comfortable leaving our fur babies there! Definitely going to be returning for our next grooming session! We have a Yorkie/silky terrier and a Shiatsu/Lhasa apso and they both look great even a few months after getting their cuts done! read more

We bought over two hundred dollars worth of their raw dog food, thawed a piece and the same day tried to feed it to our dog- our dog wouldn't touch it and it smelled rotten already. We tried this with multiple 'pieces' over and over and every time, our dog would go hungry rather than eat it and it smelled rotten. When I called to tell them this, hoping that something could be done, she told me that if I had called within 7 days of purchase then she could help me, but I had waited too long and she wouldn't be able to get her money back from the supplier. After spending so much money there, I feel that this was terrible customer service. We will never buy from them again since they do not seem to care about their customers or selling obviously bad food. I would not recommend this place unfortunately. read more

Have been getting my dog groomed here since they opened, and today I noticed my dog walking around in the front yard 20 minutes after I dropped him off. The front door had been left open and my dog had managed to escape the grooming room, and ran out of the front door! After running down the transcanada, he made it home with the help of 2 or 3 people trying to get cars away from him. He really needed a haircut so I brought him back (he was too tired to run away again) and all I got was "We are so sorry; have 10% off." Thanks for almost killing my dog and the 10%. read more

Very expensive, I have taken my shih tzu there a few times and recently she came back with red dots all over her chin, her armpits were cut so short that they were red and had scabs and her face was so irritated that she scratched it till she was bleeding. read more

We find ourselves to be picky about our dog (aren't most owners?) and have tried several different groomers in the city (at least 4 places that had received ok reviews on yelp). However, each time we were unhappy either with the cut or prices or attitude of the groomer or the atmosphere. Recently, decided to give AtomicDog a try and are happy we did! We had a very positive experience at this store with the groomer we had (she must have been someone different then who was mentioned in a previous review as the groomer we had was fantastic and super nice). We were pleased with the availability, their prices and their personal attention given to our dog. Its a nice calming environment so our dog seemed relaxed and not distressed. Happy experience. Would go again and would recommend. read more

I have gotten my shitshu/shanuzer full grooming done, it was never his first time his gotten groomed before always took him elsewhere but thought I'd try them out. It will be my first and last I will ever take my dog there, horrible service and charged still. They were not able to finish his grooming and they stated they've bathed him and I think I know the difference. They did not bath him he is half done cut and they tell me my dog snippy or bites and his never done that. They tried to show me how he behaves while getting groomed he was not biting or showed aggression. I still have to pay $42.00 and it looks like I could have done better myself. He was not bathe I had to give him a bath when we got Home. I will never recommend anyone to get their dog groomed there. read more

I went in to have my dog clipped. I said that I did not want his tail done at all. They asked if they could trim it a bit. Apparently a little bit means different things to different people. They cut off 4-5 inches in places and his tail looks horrible. I won't be bringing my dog back here again. read more

I too have a chihuahua and have been to the groomer at Atomic many times. We have never had an issue during nail trimmings (quicking) and my little one is admittedly extremely difficult to trim. In the past during trims my dog has acted as if her world were ending, but since we started visiting Atomic the calm nature of the groomer has been a blessing., each visit is better than the last. Although I'm sure my dog will never be the perfect appointment for the groomer, she is always welcomed with a treat and a smile. We absolutely recommend Atomic for all dogs and especially those needing extra reassurance. read more

I can't say enough about this store. The owners and employees, and groomers are amazing! And the groomers who have failed to be caring and cautious when grooming, do not last there very long! I have been taking my dog there since he was just a pup (he's 6 today!) and they have always had his best interest in mind. My dog is a schnauzer, and I let him be a dog, so he goes into the groomers quite stinky and dirty, and they spiff him up and make him all handsome again. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an awesome groomers, with great staff, and affordable prices.....and unique pet supplies as well! read more

These people are the most unprofessional business I have ever encountered. The receptionist is unwelcoming and makes you feel like you are in the wrong just for entering the store, and medical advice at a "boutique" thank you but I think I will stick to my veterinarians advice .I will not be back anytime soon I can think of quite a few other pet stores that carry what I need that I will be more deserving of customers. In my personal opinion I will stay far away from this place and their inexperience . read more

Took one of my pups here the other day for a grooming. Went great! He looked and smelled lovely afterwards and it only took an hour and the price was right! Going to see how it works out with my other fellow this week :) so far so good! read more

We have taken our 2 schnauzers to atomic dog before and received great service, but we will never take them back after this last time. The dogs were cut unevenly and one still had a dirty beard....they looked horrible and the owner just gave excuses after telling us to come back ....we should have received a rebate instead of an argument. read more
