My wife and I have two boys (4 and 1) who have attended Primrose since they were 4 months old. We…read morehave looked at more expensive options and less expensive options and are convinced that Primrose is the right place for our boys. I simply could not disagree more with the other reviewer. The education and development of my boys have been very impressive. The 4yr old was potty trained in just over 2 years. He can read, write and even speak limited Spanish at just over 4yrs. With the limited amount of time my wife and I have with him I firmly believe Primrose is to thank. This is despite some teacher turnover that occurred after a large competitor moved in down the street and actively attempted to recruit away their staff last year. Why did my sons development continue with little relative impact? The curriculum. It simply works. At this age it's the strong controls over what, when and how our children are taught that allows Primrose to be so successful at educating our children. That's not to takeaway from the excellent staff whom we do appreciate. In addition to the education there is also the social development. Our children are not only academically intelligent - they are also polite, caring, social and resilient. Their emotional development appears to be well beyond that of others their age. As I said earlier - with the limited amount of time we get to spend with our boys - I trust Primrose to help develop them into successful students and socially responsible children - and they haven't let me down.

You can tell the teachers love what they do and the kids learn so much here. The cook on site is such a huge bonus. The great thing about this place is that they create a culture like no other between parents, teachers, kids, staff! We miss it a ton!!!

The staff is friendly, caring and they go out of their way when I've asked for switching days or an early drop-off. The teachers know all the kids, whether they are in their classroom or not and they all work really well together to take care of the kids' needs. There is an academic program also, so the kiddos get in some learning time as well as play. My daughter loves going and I love being able to relax knowing she is at such a great place!

I was hesitant to enroll him as I lost my first son in 2008 and was nervous about everything with this baby. Here is what I can tell you about this Center, why we chose it in 2013 and why we're going to be sad to leave when he goes to school this fall: 1.) This is not a typical daycare, your kids are their children. These women will be substitute parents. They will love, snuggle, teach, redirect, and clam your child when you cannot be there. You will almost never walk in the door and not see a child hanging on one of the staff members. The kids love them and they love really genuinely love your kids. They will be honest with you and work with you to ensure the best for your child. 2.) The environment is bright and fun! The kids are exposed to tons of projects in many different mediums. They work on letters, numbers, science, and how the world works around them. They celebrate and recognize your children and holidays, even bringing in recognizable characters like Santa for Christmas. They do a lot of special events for the kids throughout the year and even have Ms. Jean every Friday with her musical instruments and songs! 3.) Preschoolers work on school skills. Desiree teaches kindergarten skills such as letters, numbers, counting, name writing, cutting, coloring, etc. My son was writing his name, mom, & dad by the time he was three and when he attended preschool he already knew everything they were teaching. They work a full curriculum to keep the children busy and engaged. 4.) The children go outside, have water days in the summer, take walks to the nearby park, celebrate Earth Day, and even do Yoga on occasion to relax before nap. 5.) They let your kids be kids and don't stifle your little ones personality however big or small it might be--they will embrace your little human for who they are. 6.) Lastly, cost. Information is not available online but you can set up a visit. Pricing is better than any daycare center in the city. Full time rate cannot be beat and is nearly comparable to even some higher end in home centers except it's not an in home. Another mention is that they do open at 6 and are usually only closed for major holidays which is great if you don't have a flexible work schedule. I would say to only avoid this place if you don't want your child to be completely spoiled and loved during the hours you can't be there because the owner will be like a second grandmother and the teachers like an aunt.

I wanted so badly for Casa to work for us, unfortunately, we just never were able to make that happen. I know that this review is in stark contrast to every other review, but I'm hoping to give one perspective so that people can make a truly informed decision. The benefits are pretty clear: organic food, multicultural curriculum, Spanish language immersion, and for us, it was close to home. Here are the downsides and why we chose to move to a different childcare center: 1. The program is not only Spanish immersion for the children, but also the parents. The teachers speak little to no English which makes communicating about very basic things like how our child's day was, did he eat, how is she sleeping, etc. impossible. The directors do speak English, however, they are always running around highly stressed talking on walkie talkies and do not have time to communicate. I understood when we chose Casa that it would be Spanish immersion for our son, I didn't realize communication as a non-Spanish speaking parent would be so incredibly challenging. It's entirely possible that if we, as parents, spoke Spanish, we would have had a very different experience. 2. They take the maximum number of children to teacher ratio allowed by the state and always seem overworked and very stressed - especially the directors. Voicemails and emails went without response for days - sometimes not responded to at all until I emailed or called again. The app that they use to communicate to parents about their child throughout the day is perfunctory at best. While it gives a general overview of what the kids are doing, you will get no specific feedback on your individual child and any message you want to send to the teacher through the app goes without response. 3. The parking situation is a nuisance at best and incredibly dangerous at worst. There is only parking on Nicollet Ave with zero crosswalks to the school. Parents jaywalk, block traffic, and are ridiculously aggressive for parking spots. I was almost hit multiple times by other parents swerving into or cutting me off for parking spaces - imagine Hunger Games but with over caffeinated, under appreciated and sleep deprived caretakers to little Id driven beings - it's not pretty. 4. Lastly, the teachers are inconsistent. It's luck of the draw if you get a kind caring teacher. Our infant teachers were amazing but his morning toddler room teacher was a bit of nightmare - cold, defensive, never once said even an "hola" to me when I dropped off my son. Coincidentally, my son started screaming in the mornings on school days and would latch onto me when I brought him into his classroom shortly after he transitioned to this teacher's room. Thankfully, the other teachers later in the day seemed much more pleasant and caring. The point is, there's really no consistency in the quality of teacher you will get. They also transition in and out of classrooms frequently so the good news is that if you do not like the teacher, they will probably change. Take all of this for what it's worth. There are many reviews to the contrary, this is simply one perspective based on our experience. Hope it helps give a more 360 view of Casa.

When I wrote to inquire as to whether there is an option for an afternoon tour the Director responded and said "it would be unsustainable to meet every family's schedule." She acted like they were setting the bar in accommodation when all they do is offer one rigid tour time once a week on a specific day. There's very little about that, which is accommodating. The feel that was given off is you're a burden if you can't fit into their very narrow box. They gave off a bad vibe. There's too many other good places out there to settle for unaccommodating service. Plus it makes me nervous that they would apply the same style of inflexible thought, to the care of the children.

So, here's me paying it forward for other busy parents who want to search for daycare: Cost: We consistently paid around $1350-1525 depending on which room our child was in. He started in infant and moved up to toddler. Pros: - Wonderful teachers. Most have degrees, and all of them clearly love children. They seem happy as employees, which is great. - Director on site is the owner. You can tell she really cares about her staff, the kids, and the families. She's extremely accommodating - we changed our schedules multiple times and she was able to help us each time. - Easily the cleanest, most updated site that we visited. - Our son loved it there! - They are great at transitioning children out of the infant room to toddler room to make the kids feel really comfortable. - Great communication with parents: they send multiple photos a day through e-mail, and keep great records of what went on each day with your child. They let you know when he hits milestones and is progressing with new skills. - Great outdoor area - Fun events (bouncy house, fire trucks coming on site, etc) - The hours are great, and extend until 6pm. - Automatic tuition withdraw is a nice option Cons: - Cost. We toured a few places, and it was the most expensive in the area, and included the least amount of "extras." - you have to bring your own bibs, sippy cups, and breakfast. For the price of tuition, I was always frustrated that I had so much work to do to get him ready for daycare in the morning. - constant messy clothes. I wish they'd invest in better art bibs/smocks, and I wish they'd provide bibs for meal time. If i forgot to send one, I knew for sure he would come home in a new outfit. - Food costs extra (about $60/month for two snacks and lunch each day) and doesn't include breakfast. - Some of the food was unimpressive at times (bread and butter for snack?), not organic, lots of breaded chicken dishes, etc Overall: the price was worth it for us, especially when he was an infant. We were really confident in the care he got, and he learned so much. We loved all of the art projects he brought home, and the communication they had with families.

As an infant, moving infant, toddler, & 2 year old there had been regular activities & lesson plans covering science, basic math, sensory tables, ABCs, etc. There were quarterly conferences with the parents/guardians. About a year ago, multiple long time teachers left for other jobs & after this, the classrooms became overcrowded, unqualified people were hired, and lesson plans along with conferences ceased to exist. Our son came home multiple times angry, sad, & with bite marks. Despite asking for more information about what we could do to improve his life there or what seemed to be causing his big emotions, nothing changed & we were just told "this is normal behavior". The director promised to look into the lack of lesson plans & all they did was document the morning story time. The rest of the day was unstructured. Our son didn't want to go there anymore despite his friendships with his very good friends because there was no consistency with who was in charge in his room. There were different teachers & aides every day. When we decided to leave, we told him it was because he is a big kid now & big kids go to new schools. However, one of his teachers at Tutor Time told him he was leaving to go to a school "to teach him how to behave" 2 months ago, this location was under a DHS investigation for a restricted disciplinary act against a child. I also witnessed & reported a new teacher screaming at 4 month old infants. Despite this, she was kept there for a few more weeks before she left. Our rate was increased multiple times per year all in the name of being able to hire better people, however, untrained people were consistently hired instead. The bright spots that Tutor Time has going for them are both Miss Brittany's, Miss Laurel, Miss Grace, and Miss Alison. They are wonderful human beings
