If you ever need a hot lunch, don't hesitate to say hi to everyone at the deli department. Everything is cooked Fresh and sandwiches can be made to order right before your eyes! Great job Deli! You guys should definitely say hi to Jenna, she's in the floral department. The floral arrangements are looking dazzling every time I come in. Everyone does an amazing job, but there's that bond that you form with certain people that makes that experience memorable... The rest of the store always looks fabulous! Thanks to the amazing store manager, Nate!! I have had the pleasure of talking with him and he is truly a caring manager. He keeps the smile on my face! As the name would suggest, the prices are quite competitive and they do a nice job of highlighting how much you save versus going to a competitor. Case in point, I needed some frozen pizzas and they had a couple options including one that was 399. It wasn't the type I was looking for, so I ended up going to another store where that same brand of pizza was 599. If you're not looking for anything specific, this is definitely your go to spot! The cereal aisle is pretty impressive and the cheese and meat selection is more robust than I was expecting. When you have both baby Swiss and a three year aged Gouda, your stock goes up a little bit! The beer and wine section near the front of the store is pretty impressive and the prices are definitely a couple dollars cheaper than most other spots in the area. Loved that they have a good selection of local stuff too! This is a spot that's definitely worth your time to come check out. You'll definitely find something that you can use, likely for less money than you're used to paying. Coming in checking the place I will also get you familiar with what they have so you can get more of your shopping done here if they've got your brand of whatever you're looking for!

The owner, Fred (Alfred) is a friendly swiss man who must be in his 80's. He has a thick swiss accent, but that only makes sense considering the name of the store! During my discussion with Fred, I found out that he started working with meat in the mid 60's. He started the Matterhorn Meat Shop in 1975 and has been doing it ever since. He told me that he got into the business because he enjoyed doing it, not because of the money! I was excited to try a get a feel for the quality here, so I decided to trying a little bit of several items: Jerky ($16/95/lb): Very good. He keeps it frozen, but it's been great once it's thawed. It's a bit on the thicker side, but I'd get some again. Jerky is always expensive, but this seemed pretty reasonable. Gothaer Zervelat - It's basically a german salami. It's an oblong shape and has a pretty good smoke flavor to it. If you're into salami, try some of this! Knockwurst - I haven't tried it yet, but I'm told that its the swiss version of a hot dog. It looks similar to a brat. Spicy Sausage - A bit milder than I would like, but delicious! Mild Sausage - Delightful! A fairly standard sausage, but worth trying. Landjaeger - Its quite a bit different that the other ones that I've had. Based on my experience here, I can't imagine that this is anything but 100% authentic. They are pretty big, but the flavor is mild and worth trying. Bring cash - I'm not sure if he accepts credit cards or not. I think that his register is the same one that he had in 1975, which is awesome! My only regret is that I didn't discover the Matterhorn Meat Shop earlier. This is undoubtedly on it's way to becoming one of my favorite shops around!

Are they the best in the world? Probably not, but being a classic dinner here and there throughout my 40 years on this earth and having grown up in the Yakima Valley makes them the best in my world. The smoked German sausage and spicy German sausage: -Perfect texture -Prefect bite -Amazing flavor -Meaty, juicy, perfect amount of fat! -Consistent quality! Look no further. Skepticism at first because I'm not really big on avocado spread or warm tomatoes (texture) but oddly it worked really well! I think it's because the tomatoes are sliced really thin so it's more flavor than texture. It was actually really good and I will order it again. The cheddar bagel was really chewy and flavorful with the eggs. Next up... the chocolate cake doughnut. It was perfection. Literally. Light and airy inside and a little bit of this crusty sugary coating on the outside. Gave it the perfect texture. I love that. It wasn't too sweet which is HUGE early in the morning. I devoured the whole thing and will get again. I have 3 other items including this delicious looking little apple pie doughnut but I'm full and need a nap.
