Fresh farm fruit yes. Even better are the homemade cookies. Even better are the homemade pies. Even better is the hometown smiley friendly service! Situated what is now the west Yakima suburbs, a little drive from the freeway exit. Everything is pretty much to-go, so make it your last stop on your way back home. A Yakima icon, always a visit when in the Palm Springs of Washington. read more

Actua fruit stand in the middle of an orchard! We asked what was local and the response was everything except for some peaches which came from 20 miles away.. Super cool place Went for the pie which they were out of.. got something called a papple, like a Japanese pear and some leper colony like pumpkin which was super cool read more

My friend was on the hunt for Tieton cherries, however, we had just missed those. Apparently, they are a bit earlier than the rest of the cherries. Catch ya next year! There was a handicap spot right next to the steps but don't remember there being a ramp (might be wrong though). I got some sweet juicy apricots and my friend got some cherries. They had some tempting baked goods too! We hit some other stands up north but ended up coming back here for more cherries. They had the best price! read more

We've been going to Johnson Orchards for decades. This is a family owned orchard/store that's been in operation for 120 years, as of this writing! And, it's easy to understand why they've made it this long, through all of the trials and tribulations of the last 12 decades. The orchard appears well run, has always had great quality fruits, veggies and other products and competitive prices, provides great service -- what's not to love?! The store is always clean and well appointed with a fun assortment of food, sweets, and other stuff. We stop by every time we're in town. If you're looking for excellent, local fruit, veggies, or pies/sweets in Yakima -- look no further! And, you're supporting a wonderful, family run business. read more

When you are in Yakima and it is harvest time, you must go to an orchard! That was the recommendation given to us. We stopped in at the market at Johnson Orchards. What fun! If we were not traveling through I would have left with fruits and vegetables galore. However, since we were visitors, we decided to get some of the wonderful apples they had available. We chose a variety we were not familiar with, "Smitten." They were delicious! They also had baked goods and we snagged some cookies. Such a treat. If I were local, this would be a go to for fresh local produce. read more

Their bake goods are so yummy. I come here to buy Carmelita's, pies (savory and sweet), and honey. It's my go to spot when I'm in town.

A patient brought us, at the hospital , goodie bags from Johnson Orchards!!! The cookies were so delicious and unbelievably gooey and yummy! I had no idea these types of things were available from this orchard! The texture, the flavor, and the beautiful presentation was so amazing! if you're looking for a ridiculous cookie, I encourage you to swing by and give them a try!! while writing this review I regret not taking a picture! read more

Always enjoy the fruit from this place. Family has been buying cherries from here for years. The older lady working the check stand tends to stare at you while you shop but service is usually very friendly. read more

This place was highly recommended by a fellow customer where we were waiting for our cars to be serviced, so I thought I would check it out. It turned out to be as good as she described. Having been a fan of this orchard for decades I am lost in the nostalgia of having a true orchard to purchase my fresh fruit. The orchard in the past allowed you to pick your fruit from large bins. You were allowed the pleasure of choice. This past year it's totally left to them. No longer getting that country feel. It's also gone more towards a bakery rather than farm. If you like that kind of thing, they may be a good choice. For me, I will venture to a u-pick orchard. Or one that actually is a fruit stand. read more

Stopped by but ther fruit selection was minimal. They had good cherries and apples. They also had interesting hard ciders, soaps and honey. The shop was much smaller than I expected. read more

We stopped by on our way out of Yakima and we were not disappointed. Very cute property with very nice employees. The bakery was delicious. We stocked up on peaches and plums. We also bought a couple homemade soaps. Can't wait to come back again! read more

This place is cool! They really have a wide variety of apples to choose from. This year I got there too late in the season to do the u-picking personally, but they still had plenty of apples to buy. And if you buy in bulk, they'll likely give you a good discount. :-D AND from what I understand, if you call ahead they'll even have your order prepared for you ready to go! Their cider press is impressive too. That pneumatic beast is as much fun to watch as it is to taste the results. The u-pick is definitely something that is a fun group/family activity, just remember to wear boots! They have pears too! How'de ya like THEM apples?! ;-p read more

Adorable little farm shop! We bought peaches (delicious!) and some freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. We will definitely be back!

Good fruit , right from their own orchard, nice atmosphere, friendly service , baked goods too!

Addiction. That is what I have with Johnson Orchards. I love this place so much I even brought a pie home with me in my carry on to protect it. The people who work here are so friendly and kind, I absolutely love coming in just to get my sweets fix. read more

Fruit is always more amazing when you know it was picked within 50 miles or, literally, from the backyard. To thank my family friends for hosting my visit to lovely Eastern Washington, I bought a blueberry pie from here. And then proceeded to buy two more the next morning. Apple AND blueberry. Let's just say that the pie-lover in my life gained several pounds that week and felt like crap from sugar overload for weeks after. They're good. They're fresh. They make your car smell like heaven on the 2.5 hour ride back to Seattle. Apparently it's better than Pie Bar says the connoisseur. Not my words. read more

Johnson's is one of the staples of Yakima. Yes, you could also buy fruit at the supermarket, farmer's market, get some from friends, etc, but Johnson's is located right in Yakima, has extremely cheap prices, and is a family run store. It's like buying right at the Orchard, right in the center of Yakima. People of all walks of life come here, and everyone usually leaves with bags and bags of fruit. As always, fruit varies by what's in season, but it's nice to buy fruit from someone who obviously works in the farming business and from a place surrounded by orchards of the same fruit you're buying. Only takes cash or check, and you can buy fruit individually by the pound or in bulk and get a cheaper rate. Don't forget to always ask what's the best for that day! read more

Fruit, pie, carmels.....is this heaven? Nope, its Johnson orchards! Tucked away conveniently along summitview in the middle of the city, this orchard produces amazing fruit! The main building has been there for a 100+ years, which is pretty awesome! The fruit is produced in the adjacent orchards. You won't be able to find it fresher anywhere! In Addition to the fruit, they also make some of the best Carmel's in the world. Seriously, they were in a Martha Stewart competition a few years back and were named one of the best Carmel's in the country. Finally, I have to talk about the pies. I'm very particular when it comes to high and I'm constantly blown away with how good these pies are! The Apple pie is the best of ever had. I had several pieces of their coconut cream pie, and I don't even like coconut. If you are looking for delicious fruit or amazing dessert, check out Johnson orchards. This family owned orchard is an amazing place and as a true gem in Yakima! read more

This place is great! Great fruit at a good price! The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable!

Love this place! Excellent apples and pears. Huge selection. They also have No 2 fruit at a discount. I take all my visitors here.

The farm is charming and I was very excited when my daughter-in-law and I arrived. The trees look healthy and the little farm store was nicely decorated for fall. We bought some yummy baked goods... the cookies are amazing. I am a Master Gardener and Horticulture graduate. I know how to choose fruit and I know when fruit is fresh. I chose two apple varieties for purchase, the Sunagold and the Jazz. I had never tried the Jazz before and I was impressed by the crispness and the combination of sweetness and tartness. When I explained to the clerk that I planned to ship the apples to California, she offered to have them packed for me. She explained there is a staff member who is expert at choosing the best apples and that he would polish them up and pack them for me. I paid for the apples and returned a few hours later to pick them up. I did not open the boxes when I picked them up, and in fact the clerk offered to tape them for shipping. I drove to a UPS store and asked the clerk how I should ship them. She suggested not shipping them in the original boxes. So she wrapped your boxes in thick bubble wrap and placed them in another box. Then she filled the large box with packing popcorn. I paid $50 to ship the apples. Expensive, but I was so excited to get the nice quality apples home. Here's the bad part of my story. The apples I received are NOT fresh. They are soft, definitely NOT crisp. The insides are mealy and a few even have damage where the skin is broken. One mark even looks like it was broken with a fingernail. The apples are so soft; I can't even tell which ones are the Jazz variety. I am so disappointed. I don't want to accuse anyone of selling me older apples, but these are definitely only good for making applesauce or similar recipes. I had hoped to use the Sunagold for some special recipes and the Jazz for fresh eating. I can get fresh crisp apples at Costco for a lot less money than the ones I bought from Johnson Orchards. Our Costco ships fresh apples from WA. I wrote a letter to the owners of the farm and I'm waiting for a reply... I'll update this if they give good customer service and reply to me with empathy and concern.... read more

Cookies and pies to delight your tastebuds! We bought the strawberry and peach pie and some pear oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies. Delicious all around. I grew up in Yakima and have known of Johnson's Orchard for a long time, but this is my first taste of their pie! I'm gluten free so I just had the fruit from hubby's pie, but I know that crust is fabulous. Also it comes in a reusable pie tin. I'm guessing this is part of the price but it's also really cool because now we have a pie tin! Hubby had the cookies and loved them. You can also buy caramels and caramel sauce- Copperpot Caramels. Great for a gift! Enjoy! read more

From Seattle, we visited this place last Sunday, My kids wanted to "Pick" cherries. That is the only reason why I did this long drive. The guy there was so great, I never seen such a customer service , He said the season is over, no much cherries to pick ( there is a lot to buy though) ; 'But you are welcome to pick if there is some' and showed the near by farm. My kids enjoyed a lot there and that was more than enough for us to pick for more than an hour,. We never ate such sweet cherries in my life. We enjoyed every moment there, whatever we picked , we ate. they didnt bother to charge for anything, That forced me to buy a lot from them , thats the only way I figured out to pay them. the guy came running to me with an address and said a near buy farm is offering "u-pick" I am surprised again with the service. I should say these are the real , genuine people. We then went to that farm and the picked another set. But this guy was there in my mind all the time. Sad thing is I forgot his name This happened on July 23rd 2011 , around 1 pm . read more
