Great produce store...it is REAL fruit stand. The melons were ripe and to die for, perfection in the fruit. Reasonable prices and the owner is super nice guy and really knows from where his products come from. You are definitely supporting a local small business. Specialities include wood smoked garlic, OMG the smells are amazing, and some fruit varieties you will not find elsewhere. A great fruit stand if there ever was one! Located in downtown Union gap, these guys are doing some work! The stand has been here for as long as anyone can remember and still does the same quality work today as when they started - now they just know all the farmers and get better deals! The guys here know their stuff and, appropriately, ensure the produce they sell is top notch. The bounty here is impressive. The offerings range from multiple types of tomatoes to more tree fruit than you can shake a stick at and as many veggies as you'd like to sample! The pepper selection is impressive and they've got tons of melons, garlic, corn, onions, and some legit roasted peanuts! Everything is from the valley and these guys only serve up the best stuff. The array of peaches, nectarines, plums and other fruits make for some marvelous viewing and the varieties are ever changing - it's quite legit! A unique item here is the smoked garlic - TRY THE SMOKED GARLIC! I think it may be from a unicorn or perhaps where the proverbial rainbow ends because it's absolute gold. The flavor is amazing and thus far it's elevated everything we've put it in. End of the day, this is a must hit spot where you'll find a cornucopia of fruits, veggies and all things produce! 10/10 Best place to go to get your fresh fruits and vegetables. Starting with asparagus to cherries to peaches to apples corn and finishing with pumpkins. Much more during the season. Always able to call and get a custom order of asparagus or a sorted pound box of cherries. Quality is key here over quantity each order is took with care. Fruit City is an institution and definitely a fixture of the Yakima Valley. Whatever is in season, it's about over 95% likely that their locally sourced produce will be the best out of anyone in town...and definitely the Seattle area where I now live (but I was born and raised in Toppenish). They're currently the "go to" when it comes to: Asparagus Cherries (the Stawberry Rainiers are...beyond words flavorful) Smoked garlic Berries...all of them. Frozen, fresh, whatever. And anything else that is locally "in season". Fruit City has a palate for the best in season produce. In fact, I won't get any in season produce in the Seattle area if it's sold at this place... Yeah, I spent $50 in gas plus wear and tear but its always worth the drive. read more

I have driven by this place a few times and finally decided to stop. Everything was fresh and very reasonably priced and the guys running the stand were super nice. So far this is the best place in Yakima I have found to buy produce. Not as big of a selection as the Farmers Market but they're open more than once a week and the prices are a lot better. I think the Farmers Market is fun but it seems to cater to the wine touring crowd a bit these days and has gotten a little spendy. Try Fruit City for great produce and prices. read more

I used to stop here about 4 times a year, every time I came through town. The last time, my husband placed his pocket knife on the counter, while paying for purchase, and forgot it there. We noticed when we returned home. We called fruit city right away and the guy behind the counter stated that he had found it and would return it back to us no problem. We thought this was great customer service, and was very pleased that he was willing to do that. The knife was a gift from my son. After waiting a week, and then two weeks for the knife to come in the mail, we called them back. At that point they were very rude to us and we have not received the knife back. We will no longer be stopping here, and I have told the story to a lot of my friends, and they will not be going there anymore either. It was just a simple gesture of kindness, and they decided to keep the knife for themselves and ignore our request. The produce is very reasonably priced, lower than stores and farmer's markets. But the one item I love that I can't find in other places is the wonderful peanuts in the shell. He has them in huge/serve yourself bags (guessing 100 lbs). Both salted and plain. They are big, fresh and very tasty. We live in Wenatchee, and we can't get there often enough to buy, we have even had them ship us some. I think they are from Oklahoma. Enjoy ! read more

Old, old sweet corn, expensive and sour peaches. Poor attitude of fellow behind counter and the sign the he is "carrying," armed, is off-putting at best. Waaaaaaay better prices, selection, attitude at Imperial's on Lateral "A" a few miles to the south. Sure won't be going to this place again.
