My son and I came here because we got a voucher for some free clothing. after we picked out our things I was told I had to go to the cashier lin...I got number 2 her name was Lily the minute she realize that I had vouchers her attitude and demeanor changed it went from pleasantly greeting me to glaring me at me and looking at me up and down like I was a piece of garbage. Each item she was checking out she slammed it in as she rang it up and then threw it carelessly to the end of the conveyor belt there was no hi how are you there was no smile there was nothing I felt completely embarrassed and extremely uncomfortable. Almost like I was troubling her for purchasing these items with a voucher like I was a pain in the ass and I was putting her out even though it's her job to ring things up. If it wasn't for the fact I have to do this with my older son to I would say I would never come back so after I do the second bout of humiliation I am sure I'm going to get when I enter the store I will never come back into the store ever again every time I come here I'm treated like a thief even though I spend lots of money here on multiple things the employees will follow you around and pretend like they wanna help you when they're really just watching you to make sure you don't shoplift. And when you do ask them or some thing else they have no clue. I have never stolen anything in my life and I've always paid for everything but yet I still feel like I'm doing something wrong every time I come into the store they really need to not discriminate against people just because somebody has a voucher and Lily should really take some customer service classes because that was awful and her green hair doesn't help anything either. Love the store but you're likely to get a disease from the bathrooms, we have Walmarts mini Marts and burger kings here but this is the most disgusting bathroom in all of Yakima. It has been for years and years, an ex employee I know told me that they don't pay the people who clean it very well or even treat them well, so it's a management level issue. read more

I have shopped at many Fred Meyers in this state. They generally vary from excellent to merely good. This store is terrible. There are constant reminders over the PA system to wear masks while shopping and employees do wear them (some more as chin straps), but, unlike other local retailers, there is no requirement for shoppers to do so. Since it is always packed, it is hard to keep distance from people who won't mask up. Anyone using the pharmacy must stand in line for long periods in close quarters with unmasked people. Marks on the floor at the cash registers reminding folks to stand apart have disappeared. Even a guy selling health insurance was unmasked. I tried their curbside ordering system, but was frustrated at the missing items and whacky substitutions I'd get in nearly every order. I am now doing the bulk of my shopping in other stores. I still go to Freddie's, but only when there's something I think I can't get somewhere else. read more

Racist pricks run this place, I walked in at 10:58 and the front door "security" (Matt Notebloom) started to press me saying get out of the store shouting racist comments while noticing I was Hispanic and not white on white and demanded me to get out of the store, I refused letting him know I had 2 mins to grab my goodies and go out the store (I only needed one item in and out, would have taken 30 seconds) and he went on to say racist remarks under his breath while following me around...as I got my camera out and streamed to 2k+ viewers he began to back off and know his place but it is still unacceptable tbh and shows why you should never stop by this shop any time of day and just go to Safeway...etc. Do me a favor and go ahead and find Matt Notebloom on Facebook and speak ya mind to him! read more

Debbie is the worst checker. She is argumentative towards the customers is you make a comment like oh I should have an even number of those. I wasn't blaming her or to recount all 34 notebooks. I was trying to say I might have not grabbed enough. Instead she gets all defensive about her count. If she is going to be that rude. I didn't give her anymore of my Time a grabbed all my stuff went to a different line. On my way to a different line. I grabbed another notebook just Incase my count was off. I rarely shop a Fred Meyer. I was planning on just getting a cart full of school supplies to donate and then be on my way. But heck I'm already here. So I get the school supplies picked up supplies for a service project and got groceries. I couldn't believe the deals I found. Came home with a back seat full of stuff. So we will see if I return. July of 23 Fred Meyers are so high to cover theft. Products fresh and dry are so over priced. One of the rudest stores. Employees are nasty and literally won't help you. I saw a protein shake in less than one wk go up from $19.00 for a 12 pack to $28 in four days. I sope at Walmart, way better lower prices on exact same item. I never remembered Fred Meyer being a particularly nice store growing up. However, since returning and rediscovering the place (as well as the jingle, "You'll find it at Fred Meyers" - well done marketing!), we've found it to be a go to for just about everything. If you've never been here, it's sort of like a Walmart you're excited to go to. They've got a great food selection, including really good local (at least to Yakima) produce, a nice bakery and just about everything else you need including plenty of beer of wine. Their cheese game is solid as well. Move through the store and you get to home goods including furniture, anything you can think of for cleaning/organizing as well at kitchen trinkets. Parts of the store start to feel a little Bed, Bath and Beyond-y, but it still works. The garden center is at the end opposite the groceries and has been great for picking anything from wasp killer to an outdoor storage box. They've also had some lovely clearance tables with things I didn't know we needed - my brother recently received a heavily discounted bacon wave (http://www.asseenontv.com/bacon-wave/detail.php?p=296229)! All in all, a great store that really does have everything I'm looking for. Other pluses - big Seahawks section and they will donate a portion of your purchases to local charities and schools. Horrible customer service . Always behind, constantly fill late, always new personal who are always rude and have no idea how to treat patients and customers. The worst part is some medications are time sensitive through insurance and at times them being "short handed" and not able to fill your prescription causes you to run out of medication and constantly be behind. Also, you can go there physically and wait for a late prescription hours and still have to wait in line after they text you when your physically there. I've been coming to the pharmacy for over 10 years and post COVID it has been the worst experience. I need to just change pharmacies. read more

I probably have no sense of humor and entirely too much time on my hands BUT I need to share my experience of this morning. I headed off to Fred Meyer (for the elderly's ONLY shopping) to get some cereal. I arrived a few minutes early and observed the parking lot was quite full. I then saw the line waiting the opening of the store. I saw about 1/3 of the folks were apparently elderly and the other 2/3's......well, let's just say "Business as usual folks!!!!!" In disgust, I drove off to Safeway to partake in their elderly only shopping time and while their clientele was predominately over the age of 60, quite a few of them were either GenXers or Millenials. As one pushed by me I stood quietly and observed him stocking up his cart with 6-packs of beer. I queried the store manager why other people were allowed to shop during the time set aside for the elderly and was told, "We can't turn them away. They spend money here!" I then returned to the car and drove back to Selah to our local Wrays. They also have set aside a time for the elderly shoppers, the only difference is THEY ENFORCE and were actually turning people away. THANK YOU WRAYS!!!!!!!! Until the end of this pandemic (and probably for even longer afterwards) I will ONLY shop Wrays!!!!! For those managers of Fred Meyers and Safeway.....SHAME ON YOU! You might try to walk the talk! Buyer Beware. Selah/Yakima Fred Meyer is participating in this scam via Progressive Leasing, wherein they exploit and intentionally mislead their customers in an attempt to knowingly screw them out of exorbitant amounts of money. I myself am out over $900 due to this shady and borderline illegal business practice. Upon noticing that my balance was over $800 when it should have been nearly paid off (and was also nearly $200 more than the amount of financing I was approved for on store at point of purchase), I returned to the store and confronted the sales people. They claimed ignorance regarding why my balance due was so high. Then I found this article. I was not even offered the option of a Fred Meyer credit card at point of purchase, and immediately suggested to the Progressive Leasing option. A Rainy Monday Evening at Fred Meyer I got a nice package of pretty fresh strawberries for a good sale price. I found a parking space quickly, and it was near the entrance. Those were the 2 positive things. The fresh produce was far from fresh. I photographed the sorry, dry ears of corn and the 5 or 6 remaining heads of iceberg lettuce. I snagged the last 16 oz. package of store brand baby carrots just before another customer came up and had to take the more expensive name brand bag. I was going to pick up a package house brand flour tortillas but they looked "beat up" with the tortillas in one package entirely folded in half. A staff member in the Deli section didn't know where I could find Smithfield deli meat. Just before check out I politely interrupted 2 staff members chatting, and not looking for customers to help. I asked them about this deli meat. They didn't know but one of them went to look in the areas adjacent to the deli counter -- where I had also looked. She found nothing, but at least she looked. Strange that I have a store coupon for this product; still wonder where it's hiding. Overall, prices are higher than some other area grocery stores. I'm shopping less and less at Fred Meyer. read more

I shop Freddy's once a week. Great store and choices. The last two months I have bought 12 pre-packaged corn on the cobb and every ear of "fresh corn" was spoiled. This is my favorite Fred Meyer store of all time! Seriously! I've been a Fred Meyer fan for many years, but this one is top-notch. No, it's not extra fancy or anything. It's just a good store layout and in a great location. Prices are generally good, and clearance stuff means you can get some great deals. My favorite part is the self-checkouts. They're better than any other store's setup. Their deli is pretty good: you can get great chicken strips or good, basic sandwiches. Their beer selection is a bit lean, but since most people in Yakima drink cheap, crappy beer, I'm not surprised. read more

My first experience with their new Sushi bar was disappointing but yesterday thought I would try again. Bought their Chef Special that included 2 Ahi tuna plus 1 Hamachi and 1 salmon sashimis. 2st time I found salmon fresh enough to be really good. Almond Ruth it were a seaweed wrapper roll with cucumber and avocado and a small chunk of unknown protein but good. Also another protein. 4 pieces of another roll with seaweed inside capped with small orange row and a fishing dome kind inside. All were fresh and great tasting. It was expensive at $12.99 but got two meals out of it. I will be back for more. read more

I stopped by to find snow boots for my kid while visiting, drove everywhere in town for them, and nothing. We found a large pair of boots for kids here, but good enough. I packed in the socks so my kid didn't miss out playing in the Yakima snow. With that said, I love how HUGE this store is after the remodel. The organic section is the largest that I've seen. Their prices for organics are much for reasonable. I'm glad to see this in Yakima! read more

I have read most of the reviews for Freddy's, as it is sometimes called. While I agree with the majority of them, no one has commented on the neatness and cleanliness about the store.
