First of all, there are hundreds of food and drink items to pick from. And if you don't see what you want just ask the staff. The staff would make me 4 sunny side up fried eggs in the morning. Then, at night they would make us hot chocolate. I loved the almond croissant. At night there is enough alcohol for a football team to get drunk. They have tons of beer choices and even entire bottles of hard alcohol plus wine. I've never seen anything like it. The staff is great. They always greet you, and are willing to help with anything. The rooms were excellent, and most importantly, dark and quiet. The location is right in the middle of the city. Easily one of the best Hyatt's I've ever stayed at. Absolutely use a lounge pass!!!

The hotel lobby was spectacular and gave a real majestic view with two main entrances. The service was great in the lounge. After I mentioned to James, the hyatt staff team leader that my wife and daughter couldnt have eggs, he made sure every night they had a vegan dessert waiting for them. Checked on us every day and just wow, he went above and beyond. Karla the chef also checked on us because the vegan desserts are made different and wanted to make sure the flavor and consistency was spot on. And Reak was great with helping us get around the city and telling where to go. The room was spectacular with floor to ceiling windows. It did get hot if the windows were left open during the day so we had to remember that. But great view of the city and would definitely recommend staying here again. I think we stayed for 5 nights? 3 would've probably been enough to do everything we wanted to.

Bars of chocolate at reception, a glass jar full of sweets in your room (which, might I add is FREE and gets refilled everyday!), bon bon shaped pillows and liquorice allsorts stools. We were there for a conference and every day our meeting room was restocked with test tubes full of jellybeans and plates of brightly hued macaroons - seriously dangerous for someone weak willed like myself. Sweet treats aside, this hotels ticks all the boxes for me - handy central location, friendly and professional staff, sizeable rooms and heavenly pillows. The only negative for me was the lack of plugs bedside - where is one supposed to charge their phone? I only got back from Australia on Monday but I've already been singing the Aldelphi's praises to my friends. Hopefully I'll be back soon!

The hotel is also close to Swanston Street, one of the main streets in CBD. My room was a decent size, and upon arrival, it was nice seeing a personalised message written on the mirror wishing me a lovely stay at the Adelphi. The best part of staying there was that all the snacks and drinks in the mini bar were FREE throughout my entire stay. And these were quality snacks and drinks. I've never seen that before in my life. It was awesome sauce. I also liked the toiletries provided. I believe the name of the brand was Apelle, and they give you a coupon code (10% off, I think) if you want to order them online. Another cool thing they did was leave a macaron next to your bed in the evening. And they were delicious macarons! The things I didn't like were that the wifi wasn't that great (it was okay, but don't expect to be able to do any streaming or heavy duty stuff.) My bed was a little bit too soft; it didn't bother me personally but for those with back problems, it might. Also, you have to walk up a flight of stairs from the street level to get to the lobby, so if you have a heavy suitcase, you're going to have to work a bit. Other than that, great location, awesome decor, and I wouldn't mind staying there again.

Its Fuk U Fri!!!!!…read more We stayed here 4 nights on points and the stay was all negative. Negatives: I am a high level Ambassador member, and I booked via the site. Nonetheless, before I arrived I basically had to re-book the room to check in; I am supposed to receive a guaranteed room upgrade. One was not available so they gave me a $75 AUD food credit for the entire stay. Weak AF!!!!! A burger cost $36 AUD. I should have been given a $75 AUD food credit/day. The foregoing would have been more commensurate with the cost of a room upgrade; I tried to book a lounge access room via the site, but the radio button was unavailable. The site wanted you to pay cash & points. I did not want to pay $130 USD/night extra for lounge access; Before arrival I received an email that said I could upgrade to a lounge access room via points. When I inquired about this offer at the front desk, the woman said the points option is unavailable, and it would be $300 AUD/night for an upgrade: WTF?! The upgrade should be $200 AUD based on exchange rates; Shitty room w/ no view; Our room was not cleaned the 3 days we stayed. We had to call the last day to have our room cleaned. The day before we had to bring the trash and soiled towels to the cleaning lady in the hallway; Fuk U IHG!!!!! Your initials stand for I H-ate G-etting Cheated and Lied to, bc that is how I have been treated. This is my 5th stay at an IC or Kimpton high end hotel this year. Overall, this is a very good hotel pick as it seems to have been RECENTLY UPDATED…read more Not over the top luxurious, but it is not the spartan rooms of most Aussie hotels. VERY comfortable, QUIET and RELAXING (and what more can you ask of a vacation stay?) and VERY NICE, ROOMY ROOMS. It is a PERFECT LOCATION as you can EASILY walk a couple of blocks to the AMAZING, Melbourne Museum (a must see w/their new "Native People" exhibit!), their Parliament, the Victorian State Library, several Theaters, many, historical churches and a quick, FREE tram ride to their Queen Vic Market. From the hotel, LOVED being able to walk around and see the incredible number of relatively new architectural-award-winning , tall office/condo buildings interspersed with historical landmarks/stores! While we were here, the only aggravation that we had was that we apparently got the last few bottles of the PLASTIC, SEALED, BOTTLED AT THE SPRING/sourced, sealed water bottles! What this Marriott now uses for the rooms is a VERY SLIM, TALL GLASS bottle (Unfortunately easy to knock over in the middle of the night on your nightstand!) - and it says ON THE BOTTLE - BOTTLED AT THE HOTEL! WHAT?!?!? Complained to the hotel management about this and they mentioned it is on "sustainability" standards of the corporate Marriott parent in the U.S. Not surprised that Marriott corporate (located in the U.S.), went a little crazy w/their "woke" standards. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY a "green" decision of Marriott corporate that thinks this INCONVENIENCE of having a TALL, OPEN, GLASS bottle sitting on the nightstand is a good idea! Trust me, the planet will not notice if you still provided nice, sealed, PLASTIC BOTTLES - of "bottled at the source" Spring water! On the positive side, in true Marriott fashion, the staff nicely accommodated us by obtaining/providing sealed plastic bottles for us in the room, each day. Sincerely appreciated their extra attention to our needs! As to their "Executive Lounge", it is a small, enclave off the bar area and only has limited snacks of a few pastries/fruit in the AM and a couple of warm appetizers, dips, cheese/ meat laid out for the evening. Their Executive Lounge in Melbourne is less than what we experienced at the Sheraton Grand/Hyde Park in Sydney (which is another Marriott property that we frequent as Lifetime Titanium members). In the Exec Lounge here, there are NO CONTAINERS TO GO of beverages - ONLY a "communal pour fountain" and GLASS containers to drink from! Again, Marriott corporate, PLEASE consider that GUESTS DO notice that your corporate group has gone TOO "woke" and have now decided it is better to inconvenience the guests rather than expect that they will recycle a plastic or tin beverage container. (We also have executive status at Hilton and HILTON does not inconvenience their guests this way.) And, note that this Marriott has NO FLAT SHEETS for the bed! It looks like they used their Flat Sheets to make 3-sided duvet covers, but they are WAY too short! You cannot even completely cover yourself with these duvets when you lay flat! I have to UNTUCK the bottom-end of the bed so that my 6 ft husband has enough of the duvet to pull up to his shoulders. PLUS, they have no heat in the rooms! The thermostat says that it is for COOLING only and to "turn off" the unit if you want to be warmer! WHAT!?!?!!! Must be another Marriott corporate "woke" decision. On the positive side, the staff here is EXCEPTIONAL! During our almost 2 week stay, they greeted us by name and were always going out of their way to make our stay, wonderful! In particular, want to give EXTRA KUDOS to the Dining Room Mgr, Pat and her staff! EVERY morning, she and/or her VERY GREAT STAFF, would welcome us to breakfast and start our days out well by providing an EXTENSIVE BREAKFAST BUFFET (or custom-prepared items on request). It was obvious that Pat and her team (especially, Reena), take the comfort and needs of guests, very seriously and we very much noticed their hard work/dedication. Nice to see the very busy Dining Room staff, also taking the time to check on the needs of each table of guests (particularly as there were physically-challenged guests dining on several days). BECAUSE of this entire group of Marriott employees at this hotel (Hotel Mgt, Front Desk, Concierge, Exec Lounge, Phone Operators, Servers, Chefs, etc.), we will book this hotel again in the near future. This is truly a hard to find, well located, updated/modern hotel, enjoyable property combined with professional staff. Worth staying here! Thank you, Marriott!

My friend told me that it was one of those bars that you visit to wind down with a beer or two before going to bed. With the exception of the smoke filled room, and the addition of some more furniture, this bar has changed very little. In fact it is so well known that if you mention it, people will go 'yeah, I know E Fifty-Five, great little bar'. The last time I went there (and I probably should go more often because it has such a relaxed, laid back atmosphere) they even gave me a free cocktail, most likely because they were celebrating their fifteenth birthday. I suspect bars' birthdays last substantially longer than hours (even though I did have a two day party once).
