First of all, there are hundreds of food and drink items to pick from. And if you don't see what you want just ask the staff. The staff would make me 4 sunny side up fried eggs in the morning. Then, at night they would make us hot chocolate. I loved the almond croissant. At night there is enough alcohol for a football team to get drunk. They have tons of beer choices and even entire bottles of hard alcohol plus wine. I've never seen anything like it. The staff is great. They always greet you, and are willing to help with anything. The rooms were excellent, and most importantly, dark and quiet. The location is right in the middle of the city. Easily one of the best Hyatt's I've ever stayed at. Absolutely use a lounge pass!!!

The hotel lobby was spectacular and gave a real majestic view with two main entrances. The service was great in the lounge. After I mentioned to James, the hyatt staff team leader that my wife and daughter couldnt have eggs, he made sure every night they had a vegan dessert waiting for them. Checked on us every day and just wow, he went above and beyond. Karla the chef also checked on us because the vegan desserts are made different and wanted to make sure the flavor and consistency was spot on. And Reak was great with helping us get around the city and telling where to go. The room was spectacular with floor to ceiling windows. It did get hot if the windows were left open during the day so we had to remember that. But great view of the city and would definitely recommend staying here again. I think we stayed for 5 nights? 3 would've probably been enough to do everything we wanted to.

Bars of chocolate at reception, a glass jar full of sweets in your room (which, might I add is FREE and gets refilled everyday!), bon bon shaped pillows and liquorice allsorts stools. We were there for a conference and every day our meeting room was restocked with test tubes full of jellybeans and plates of brightly hued macaroons - seriously dangerous for someone weak willed like myself. Sweet treats aside, this hotels ticks all the boxes for me - handy central location, friendly and professional staff, sizeable rooms and heavenly pillows. The only negative for me was the lack of plugs bedside - where is one supposed to charge their phone? I only got back from Australia on Monday but I've already been singing the Aldelphi's praises to my friends. Hopefully I'll be back soon!

The hotel is also close to Swanston Street, one of the main streets in CBD. My room was a decent size, and upon arrival, it was nice seeing a personalised message written on the mirror wishing me a lovely stay at the Adelphi. The best part of staying there was that all the snacks and drinks in the mini bar were FREE throughout my entire stay. And these were quality snacks and drinks. I've never seen that before in my life. It was awesome sauce. I also liked the toiletries provided. I believe the name of the brand was Apelle, and they give you a coupon code (10% off, I think) if you want to order them online. Another cool thing they did was leave a macaron next to your bed in the evening. And they were delicious macarons! The things I didn't like were that the wifi wasn't that great (it was okay, but don't expect to be able to do any streaming or heavy duty stuff.) My bed was a little bit too soft; it didn't bother me personally but for those with back problems, it might. Also, you have to walk up a flight of stairs from the street level to get to the lobby, so if you have a heavy suitcase, you're going to have to work a bit. Other than that, great location, awesome decor, and I wouldn't mind staying there again.

Its Fuk U Fri!!!!!…read more We stayed here 4 nights on points and the stay was all negative. Negatives: I am a high level Ambassador member, and I booked via the site. Nonetheless, before I arrived I basically had to re-book the room to check in; I am supposed to receive a guaranteed room upgrade. One was not available so they gave me a $75 AUD food credit for the entire stay. Weak AF!!!!! A burger cost $36 AUD. I should have been given a $75 AUD food credit/day. The foregoing would have been more commensurate with the cost of a room upgrade; I tried to book a lounge access room via the site, but the radio button was unavailable. The site wanted you to pay cash & points. I did not want to pay $130 USD/night extra for lounge access; Before arrival I received an email that said I could upgrade to a lounge access room via points. When I inquired about this offer at the front desk, the woman said the points option is unavailable, and it would be $300 AUD/night for an upgrade: WTF?! The upgrade should be $200 AUD based on exchange rates; Shitty room w/ no view; Our room was not cleaned the 3 days we stayed. We had to call the last day to have our room cleaned. The day before we had to bring the trash and soiled towels to the cleaning lady in the hallway; Fuk U IHG!!!!! Our room was perfectly appointed with everything we needed. My eyes were immediately drawn to the large soaking tub, in which I would eventually turn into a prune from soaking so long. The bath salts and loofah were the cherry on top. The breakfast buffet was something to behold. By far the best we've ever had. Traditional breakfast foods spanning many different cultures filled one side of the restaurant. We were always rushing to our next adventure so never really had the time to sit and graze. What took this hotel breakfast to a new level was the to-go box they packed for us when we had to leave for the airport before breakfast was served. No one has ever done that for us. The front desk staff including the concierge were absolute fonts of information (and patience with my inability to follow a map). The location also couldn't be beat - half a block from a tram stop (that was free in April!) and quite walkable to other parts of the city. Everything about the W was right on point. (And the umbrellas to borrow and mimosas in the lobby were just icing on the cake!). I doubt we'll be back in Melbourne but if we were, I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else.

My friend told me that it was one of those bars that you visit to wind down with a beer or two before going to bed. With the exception of the smoke filled room, and the addition of some more furniture, this bar has changed very little. In fact it is so well known that if you mention it, people will go 'yeah, I know E Fifty-Five, great little bar'. The last time I went there (and I probably should go more often because it has such a relaxed, laid back atmosphere) they even gave me a free cocktail, most likely because they were celebrating their fifteenth birthday. I suspect bars' birthdays last substantially longer than hours (even though I did have a two day party once).
