Seafood aguachile

We found Manta while staying at The Cape and it turned out to be one of the best meals of our trip. We did the tasting menu ($125 per person) and every dish blew us away, so well balanced and full of flavor. The menu is a blend of Mexican and Japanese influences, which makes everything feel unique and creative. You can tell there's a lot of thought and technique behind every plate. The Seafood Salpicon Causa and Mochi Sweet Corn Ice Cream were especially memorable. So unique and amazing flavor combos. I've never had anything like it. Our server (wish I remembered his name!) was super friendly and knowledgeable, and the service matched the quality of the food. We left stuffed and even had to take our desserts to enjoy later in our room. Amazing food, gorgeous ocean views, and such a great vibe, highly highly recommend!!

Excellent food, good service and lovely waterfront views. We came to manta to celebrate my SO birthday. The courses were carefully curated and took us on a journey. The dessert left a lot to be desired and the corn course wasn't our favorite but overall the courses were a hit. We will certainly return when in Cabo again.

Incredible dinner experience at Manta for a belated birthday dinner. The ambiance, service, and food flavors were memorable. Opted for the prix-fixe 5 course meal and was very happy with the offerings. The portions were generous and delicious. Not everything was a standout, but they were all at the very least decent. A little disappointed with the quality of blue fin tuna but I cut some slack as it's Mexico. The fish taco and the chocolate flan were my favorites. The starters were also great.

Another smashing hit in Cabo! Not enough great things to say about this area, besides this is the flavor you're missing. Came to Manta with high hopes after reading about chef Abisai Sanchez & his ability to source some of the best local products. Aesthetic & Ambiance: 9.5/10 the aesthetic is a darker, more intimate feel with single lights over each table creating the illusion of your own world while you're dining. The ambiance was a 9/10 very quiet, low-key, but also very inviting. Service: 8.5/10 our server was awesome, knowledgeable and even explained the menu in ESP & ENG! Very attentive and fun guy. Food: we were offered the tasting menu, and at $250/pp where the value was immaculate offering almost EVERYTHING on the menu, we decided to go another direction and select a lot of things we enjoyed! Rice chips & pico: 9.5/10 - the chips were unique and the pico was so fresh. - it also had what tasted like an avo/jalepeno creama at the bottom Otoro Sashimi: 9/10 very fresh, buttery and the ponzu soy was great without over-taking the otoro. Cebiche: 9.5/10 the whitefish was so flavorful, succulent and the sweet potatoes were also very fresh. Octopus Skewers: 9.5/10 WOW one of THE BEST octopus I've had in the world. It was tender, it was juicy, it was flavorful, it cut with just a fork and it was melt in your mouth delicious! The sear and bark are perfect, the lime and cilantro added just the perfect citrus bite. Mushroom Gyoza: 7.5/10 the truffle was great, the mushrooms were very fresh, but felt like it needed a bit more than mushrooms as the earthy taste was a bit stronger. Australian Rib-eye: 8.5/10 sear was great flavor, and cook temp were perfect, however the cut itself we received had a bit more of gristle. Korean fried chicken: 9/10 very juice, great gojugaru flavor without over-fried taste. The rice it came with was also delicious, it was a white rice with what tasted like a light mirin. Braised short rib bao: 9.5/10 very tender and pull apart, the flavor was heavy and delicious, the bun was light and airy and chef recommended we add the cilantro- tomatillo salsa on it, and he was right! (Always take a chefs reccos) Dirty rice: 8/10 was good in flavor, not dry and had a great amount of cilantro. Potato/cauliflower puree: 8.5/10 very cream, tasted like buttered puree which was amazing. Ice cream: 10/10 If you know me you know I love ice cream, and these were AMAZING!!! We had all 4 types: Mango, peanut butter, black cherry, and pineapple with the Korean lime. My favorite was the peanut butter - so flavorful felt like a peanut was liquified then frozen. The color was shocking for a peanut butter but the other flavors were also just as amazing. - The mango & Pineapple are a sorbet, so a little different creaminess but still so delicious! The dulce de leche: 8/10 soaked perfectly, with the black cherry ice cream. Very flavorful but kind of seemed more like a French toast being on brioche. Really recommend this place if you're in the area!!

I had a great dining experience at Manta at the Thompson Hotel. The service was attentive and impeccable! I opted for the 5 course chef menu and my server, Neri, was so helpful in helping me choose because everything sounded delicious. This is definitely a high end restaurant so portions are small but for me, they were enough between everything I had. And the views were stunning! 10/10 experience just to be in one of Chef Olvera's restaurants!

We were looking forward to this dinner but this was the biggest disappointment of our trip and unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. It all started when we approached the host stand. We had reservations at 6:00pm and three hostesses greeted us by the name Monica. The service was less than subpar as they seemed disinterested and inattentive, which was a bad first impression and set the tone for the evening. We requested a booth and were told by the 3 hosts that they had reservations and could not accommodate. At the time of our reservation there was less than 5 tables sat in the entire restaurant. Instead, we were sat next to a half portion wall that had a splatter of sauces on the if from previous diners. It was disgusting to say the least! At that point I really was not interested in the food because all I could see was the filthy wall and service staff standing around carrying on personal conversations. We were there for over an hour and never saw anyone get sat at the 3 booths that we requested when we arrived for our reservation. Additionally, I had a troubling interaction with the restaurant manager. He assured us that we wouldn't be charged for our meal due to the lack of genuine hospitality, but to my surprise, my card was still charged. This lack of follow-through on their promise left a poor impression and made the overall experience disappointing. I hope they can address these issues in the future, as I had high hopes for a pleasant dining experience and was recommended to us by friends. I am not quite sure how they have 4.8 rating on OpenTable. Maybe it was just an off night but with so many extraordinary options in the area they should be on their game every service. Thank you for your consideration.

Korean fried chicken with steamed rice. Crispy and glazed like an elevated orange chicken. Would order again!

Manta was the best dinner we had during our stay in Cabo. We came for our reservation at 630pm on a Tuesday night and it felt so nice to be in such a serene environment compared to what I can imagine to be a very busy restaurant on the weekends. Our server Gerardo made recommendations and explained the menu to us in detail. We ordered: Drinks: Bottle of still water Avocado cocktail Colimita Colima (beer) The Tasting Menu: Blue Fish Tuna sashimi - wow, just wow Watermelon salad Beef bao - the best bao I've ever had Grilled fish with tortillas Tres leches - best bite of the week! A la carte: Korean fried chicken with white rice This was such a special dining experience as Gerardo and the other servers would explain every dish as they brought it out. I really appreciated that detail as it reminded me so much of dining in Los Angeles. Every single bite was amazing but the few I added noted on above were AMAZING. I will definitely be coming back to dine here, and I will be visiting Damian in Los Angeles when we return home as it's the same chef who created both restaurants.

Wow, Manta! Probably the best restaurant I've eaten at in Cabo! The food - OUTSTANDING! Like unbelievably delicious and unexpected. Best octopus I've ever had in my life including the watermelon salad. Incredible Service, beautiful beautiful atmosphere! Just the perfect get away with the most amazing food and Service

The desert is very good! Service was great! Great views with photo ops. They have great wine selections. Food wise, it's more like Asian fusion; it was ok.

Amazing experience from the food, the service, the ambiance, i would come back again. I would like to mention our server Gerardo; he was very knowledgeable about each course.

We dined at Manta in the Cape Hotel this week during our stay in Cabo. What an experience... a bit on the pricey side, but all things considered, worth every penny... read on! The first thing you notice about Manta is the absence of color or anything on the walls... everything is painted black! As explained by our waiter Sergio, the idea is to allow patrons to focus exclusively on the beach and ocean before you, without distraction. You have to see it to get it... it works! Segio was great all evening... attentive, but not intrusive. He did a wonderful job of guiding us through the menu based upon our discussions about what we like and/or don't like. Thank you for a wonderful evening, Sergio! We started with a cocktail, Avocado Cocktail and the Mezcal Negroni. Both were delicious, but as dinner progressed, we decided to peruse the wine list, and settled on a beautiful Henri Lurton Chenin Blanc, Valle San Vicente, MX. The bottle was perfectly cellared and served at the right temperature. It was awesome... The food parade began with some complimentary chips and salsas, the chips were made of blue corn and rice. The chips were super light and airy, and the salsas were sublime. Flavors were intense and deep. Very good start to the evening! The courses to follow included the Tuna Sashimi. The fish was "melt in your mouth," and paired exquisitely well with the sides. Ensalada Melon followed, cantaloupe and honey dew melon, tiger's milk, yuzu and peppermint... WOW! Next up was the Mushroom Ramen soup. The soup was easily one of the best bowls of ramen we have ever had. It was divine! Seemingly endless layers of flavor, every bite was savory. Octopus Anticucho followed, with pasilla peppers and chorizo mayo... the BOMB! Unfortunately, we didn't save room for an entree, and ended the evening with the Sticky Rice/Mango Sorbet. A wonderful ending to an exquisite meal. Highly recommend Mantra is you're in Cabo!

Awesome experience. We had 12 in our group but we split into two tables of 6. From the start of the meal to the end, we were taken care of like guests in someone's home. The staff were excellent throughout, with perfect recommendations, explanations of what the dish was, and everything. We ordered so many things but the highlights were the hummus, the beets, the GUAC! Everything is very fresh, very tasty and the fusion of Mexican and Japanese works on such a good level! For drinks, you cannot go wrong. All of their cocktails were unique but man, so good! If you're in Cabo, add Manta to your list!

Excellent service from start to finish, set inside a beautiful hotel with high security, the Thompson hotel sits on a cliff and was basically designed to be Instagrammable. This was the setting for our beautiful sunset dinner. The staff seated us immediately and we're incredibly helpful in taking photos for us. Our waiter explained everything about the restaurant and his recommendations and off we went. From top to bottom, just excellent service - I won't bore you with every minute detail, but it was the meaningful details that really reigned everything in. The service of course is the cherry on top of this breadth of beautiful food and drink sundae. Everything was flavorful and gorgeous, but the items I'd highly recommend are: Tuna sashimi - buttery-soft, melt in your mouth tuna spices accented with two dipping sauces, both really adding to the depth of the dish to elevate it beyond just sashimi. Charred octopus - I kid you not, top two for favorite octopus dishes, tying with our favorite omakase in Hawaii. Incredibly tender and well prepared, the deep char flavor is contrasted with its served sauce that brings a light acid and sweetness on the tongue. Overall, my only complaint is why hasn't this restaurant earned a star yet?

I'm talking the kind of band that makes you want to order another margarita just so you can clap along like you suddenly grew up in Guadalajara. And the food? Real-deal Mexican classics mole, enchiladas, chile rellenos big flavors coming out of a kitchen that knows what it's doing. Now let's talk about the chips and salsa, because I didn't come here to play games. Some restaurants give you chips like they're doing you a favor three chips and a little salsa like it's a museum sample. Not here. These chips show up ready to party. Crunchy, warm, and the salsa hits you like, "Hola amigo, welcome to flavor." Add the incredible service and that mariachi band floating through the courtyard and suddenly dinner turns into a whole event. Honestly, this place was one of the highlights of my Cabo trip and my socks? Yeah... they're still somewhere on the floor from those chips and salsa.

But that was the end of the positive things as a swarm of flies quickly came to eat the food. Trying to swat them away helped a bit but there was way too many of them. I eventually flagged a waiter down, and he shrugged at the flies. A minute later some candle flame thing came out saying that it will help with the flies but already that was too late as flies were all over the food and I lost my appetite at that point. It was disgusting. I just got up and left. Went to cashier to pay my bill. The cashier also shrugged at my fly incident, and I asked how much it was going to be. Full price. No consideration about bad operating environment and since they knew about the fly issue they didnt setup before food was served to control it better. Even after bringing it up again in detail, she shrugged again. No sorry or anything, just a brush off. Then to make it even worse she asked if I wanted to tip the service. I was in there for a few minutes, staff didnt help quickly or even pre-empt the fly issue, and I'm being asked to pay full price. Sorry but no thanks. How did this place get on the Michelin list? Service poor. Environment poor. Zero or negative star rating for me.

Service was impeccable our servers Ohnel and Arturo did not miss a beat. This is definitely a cannot miss destination and will be my definite stop every time I return to Cabo I felt the prices were very fair especially for such a high end restaurant and the food was exceptionally fresh. Proper Mexican mole the kind built from dried chiles, nuts, seeds, and even a whisper of chocolate thick, dark, mysterious stuff that tastes like it took a committee of grandmothers three days to invent. I took one bite and nearly wrote home about it. Rich, smoky, a little sweet... the sort of sauce that makes a man pause mid-chew and reconsider every sauce he has ever trusted before. Then the tacos arrived, and that's when things got serious. These weren't tidy little tacos meant for polite company. No sir. These were the kind where the juice runs down your hands and you stop worrying about manners because flavor has taken command of the ship. La Lupita is known around Cabo for its creative tacos and massive mezcal selection, and judging by the crowd and the music humming through the place, folks already know the secret. The staff goes the extra mile with every little detail, and before long you realize you didn't just stop for tacos you discovered a whole new method of happiness, served on a tortilla.

The evening we dined here it was raining, and while that is normally not significant, Roasted is partially open-air with the middle of the restaurant having no cover, so the rain was pouring in and effectively closed 60% of the place. When we arrived, the hostess and owner were apologetic and offered to rebook us, but we aren't quitters and a little rain does hurt us...but they also had a table near the entrance that was covered, so we decided to take it and enjoy our evening. Best decision ever! We started our evening off with a few cocktails paired with shrimp ceviche, queso fundido with chorizo, guacamole and an assortment of salsas. Once we ate through all this goodness, we tossed in our main courses of short rib, octopus, imperial shrimp and tampequena's. Finally we rounded out our meal with a few desserts consisting of cheesecake, chocolate flan and key lime pie! Everything was cooked to perfection, plated beautifully and absolutely delectable from first to last bite! The tampequena was my order and consisted of flank steak sided with a chile relleno and quesadilla...all of my favorite things as one meal? Sign me up! The desserts were delightful with all of us non-flan people being converted after trying the chocolate flan! Ownership put the desserts and a round of tequila shots on the house due to rain, which is more than they had to do. We were beyond thankful and appreciative. Service was phenomenal as well.
