"If it looks good eat it!" (Andrew Zimmern)…read more I don't speak or listen in Spanish, but I have never gone hungry in a restaurant that has the menu printed only in Spanish. If it has pictures, I can point.... Catrachitas came to the table first. Okay let's stop right there. This is where the you request the salsa. I asked the waitress for salsa picante. She went back to the kitchen and after a few minutes brought out a small bowl of spicy deliciousness. It went perfectly with everything we ordered. The catrichitas were small fried corn tortillas, with a thin layer of beans and the grated Mexican cheese on top [cotija]. Very good. My wife chose the Pinchos de Camaron. Shrimp skewered with peppers and onions then grilled, beans, salad, thin sliced plantains and a dipping sauce. She raved about the textures, how the flavors complemented each other and freshness. The salsa worked well too! I had seen a picture of the Tacos Hondureños and could not get past it. Three corn tortillas, filled with shredded chicken, sliced green pepper and onion then deep fried, fresh cabbage on top, dressing and pickled onions. Add the magic salsa and it was perfect. Last comment about the food....the plantains were cooked just the way I like them , thin and crispy! A small, modest, little obscure restaurant. They do now accept credit cards! The current menu is posted with this review date. Recommended!

It was another restaurant, Las Palmas, for a while, but now, it's a Salvadorean spot. They have been opened for a month and the owner, Luis, moved from Arkansas not too long ago. He was very nice and welcomed me warmly. The space doesn't look like much on the outside, but inside, it's very spacious, clean, and has lots of seating options. The first thing I thought when walking in was that it would be a great place to dance since it has so many open areas. The menu is pretty self-explanatory including English translations and pictures. They have the staples: pupusas, beans, yuca, and cheese. Many people compare pupusas to gorditas since it's a similar concept of fried dough stuffed with a selection of fillings. However, the taste is so different; sometimes, the pupusa dough is made of corn or rice flour, and the filling can also be seafood. They also have harder to find dishes such as mariscada (seafood soup), Salvadorean bistec, and shrimp dishes. There's a good number of options for non alcoholic drinks including maracuya, marañon (cashew apple), fruit shakes, and coffee/teas. They also have breakfast options. I went before noon, so it wasn't busy. The table next to me were Salvadorean and they approved of the food. I got pupusas to go with jalapeños and cheese, steak and cheese, and chicken and cheese. They were all delicious and a good size. The salsas that came with it were opposites, one was just tomato juice and the other one was spicy (my favorite!).
