It's like they don't want business ? We started at the outside bar with drinks.. we asked about food out there and they said no food served here. Three other couples showed up within 5 minutes and the bartenders told them all the same thing. No food/ 4:30 PM? We went inside to The Bar which was about 25% capacity and ordered apps. Everything was exceptional including the Caesar Salad!! Then tried to order a bunch of more items off the menu and were told APPS ONLY at the bar? Again, 30% full. So they turned down business left and right and couldn't have cared less. No manager came near us ever. While the food we had was very good I could not believe their policies during a quiet time. Even if short staffed? All our food came out within 5 mins. Also NO CARRY OUTS whatsoever? Been to Manny's a few times over the last couple of years and we love the location and the vibe, but on both occasions when we ordered dinner, the food was just OK. We really want it to be great, but it just isn't. Our waiter this last time was nice enough, but she seemed to not be fully trained. Obtained an outdoor table without a wait off season. Outdoor setting is attractively kept up with flowering plants, with a view of Rest Lake. No complaints about service. Walleye is deep fried in batter, a cut above most batter-fried fish. The meatloaf with rich sauces looked like your cardiologist would not recommend it! Salads are tasty. However, the price of drinks here is high enough that we abstained from alcohol. read more

Speculating: it's an owner/ship group with little familiarity and connection to the surrounding environs. Not speculating: y'all were way too ambitious in the buildout, concept, price point and menu. Are you dead serious with that patio? With the fake river and waterfalls? How much concrete did you pour and how is that remotely healthy for the adjacent watershed? Such cringe walking in - way to completely disregard what makes the northwoods (and made manitowish waters pre-uihlein) special. Another soulless pipe dream devoid of consideration for the locals, the unique history, the once legendary supperclub experience, and a pit stop on the highway to monoculture. Next time just light your investors' cash on fire in the middle of W; it would have similar results and spare everyone the pageantry and pretense. read more

First time here to this new restaurant. Confusing is the word I am going to use for the description of this place. The outdoor space and bar is fantastic. Lots of tables, chairs, bar is enormous, decorating, and flowers are beautiful. We were disappointed that we could not eat outdoors at this time due to staff shortage but we did have a drink at the bar and the bartender was great, super friendly and very personable. We became confused when we went inside - not sure what the vibe of this place is supposed to be. It is extremely bright and a bit stark inside, strange decor, the music was heavy metal and the servers uniforms left a lot to be desired. It is a weird mix. Upon arrival we were asked if we had a reservation, which we did not, they told us they recommend reservations and they could probably 'fit us in" - the place was near empty. The decorating was odd, floral wall paper, rustic wall mounts, modern touches, etc. it did not seem to go together. We sat in the bar at a high top table, tables are extremely small, barely enough room for drinks and a few apps. We ordered a few apps and some wine which were very good. Service was fast, no complaints there. Our server was clearly new and did her job but did not go above and beyond with friendliness. I would hesitate to return and eat inside as they atmosphere was just odd. I really would not want to pay for an expensive dinner and have heavy metal music playing in the background. Fine dining outdoor seating is attached to parking lot while the backyard has gorgeous space and views. I suppose we should have just eaten inside but it was a beautiful day. Beautiful backyard has a very limited menu. Had reservation and got seated promptly. That was the last prompt thing about our two hour experience. Slow slow slow to no. Walleye was good and portion was large - would be nice to have a small side salad with it. Menu said Kids cheeseburger came with fries but was served with burnt chips. I asked waitress about fries and she said we could order a side but it didn't come With meal. The kids meal was SAD looking. A few carrots and no ranch. I wish I had taken photo. We really never saw our waitress again. I had to go in whenever we needed anything including paying the bill. Pretty disappointing fine dining! Service was appallingly Bad and it wasn't very busy. Plated meal had zero esthetic appeal. Just read through reviews and saw photo of a walleye meal plated. No wonder I suggested a salad, mine didn't look like that at all. That looks good. read more

Stopped in last Sunday...was not very busy. We asked if we could sit at outside bar and were told yes..its open. Sat down and waited 20 minutes. There was a bar tender...one other couple sitting at the bar. No acknowledgment/ eye contact from bar tender. I simply asked is this bar open after the 20 minute wait I wasn't trying to be difficult I truly thought it wasn't. The bar tender actually yelled at me and told me how busy she was and made such a spectacle that another worker came over and took our drink order which at that point i just wanted to leave. ordered 1 mixed drink and a can of beer for 28$. Ridiculous. Would never go back. that being said the establishment is new and beautiful. Didn't eat but looked at menu which was meh in my opinion read more

What a fantastic addition to dining in the Manitowish area! We visited last night and everything we ate was fabulous! We started with the deviled egg appetizers and the specialty bread which I highly recommend. Three of us had filets and all were cooked to our liking. I had the Northwoods Classic steak enhancement (horseradish sauce & mushrooms) which I would definitely order again. Then we topped off our food by trying four different desserts - the strawberry dessert and the blueberry cobbler were voted the best! Eric, the project manager is doing a great job with his team in getting this new restaurant started on the right foot. Andrew our server was excellent also. Third time on July 5th (first 2 times were good). Something seemed off right away...like no one was in charge. No proper host or hostess. We ordered the walleye and a steak. The steak was extremely over cooked and the walleye was mushy and cold, just like the rice. I couldn't swallow the fish, I was gagging. I am a former waitress and I hate complaining because I know mistakes can happen but couldn't eat the food and just wanted to pay for our wine and get a pizza from across the street. We went twice in two weeks and both times we had a horrible experience. The first time they were out many things on the menu including the veggie burger and onion dip. It took an hour and twenty minutes to get our food. The portions were quite skimpy. We decided to give it another shot for lunch the following week. Big mistake. My son's chicken fingers were raw! Yes, you read that correctly. It was fried on the outside but completely raw on the inside. The waitress was shocked and apologetic. However, this is simply unacceptable. My son could have gotten quite sick from this. Restaurants get shut down for this sort of thing. Management, please get your act together and replace the kitchen staff. It's amateur hour and it gives the whole Food Fight group a bad look. read more

Stopped for lunch. Only the outside patio was open - beautiful day and very nice environment. Big negative for us was the price for lunch. $17 for hamburger is steep unless it is an amazing burger. I can't believe this place doesn't have 5 stars! It's one of the best meals we have ever had in the Northwoods. The service was excellent and quick, so it seems like they corrected any issues others had. The asiago sourdough is a must have, and my steak was cooked perfectly. All 5 of us loved our meals. This restaurant is our favorite in Manitowish Waters. They have the widest variety of interesting cocktails, tempting menu items and fabulous scenery on the lake for indoor or patio seating. This is the perfect place to gather with friends on the patio - called Manny's backyard - and enjoy the fire pits, music and games. Added bonus: the tiny hamlet of Manitowish Waters is very charming with speciality gift and antiques shops and a coffee shop. Also, biking trails connect to neighboring towns. Not to be missed when visiting Wisconsin's Northwoods. read more

It saddens me to write this review, but based on our experience I must help others avoid 24 hours of misery post dining. We dined at Manny two days ago, and that night my husband, my mom and myself took a beating on the battlefield I call Food Poisoning. My husband ordered a pasta dish, and my mom and I both took a bite -- one singular bite. The three of us spent the next 24 hours in the trenches and let me tell you -- both ends were under attack. I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager the next day and he assured me it's not possible that his food could have given us food poisoning and wow was that the wrong position to take. I'm sure that during their off season they aren't throwing food away / making in earlier in advance and serving spoiled food. It's sad, but please dine at Smokey's or Little Bo or really any other place besides this restaurant. And if you must, go to drink and get something in a can. read more

We have been there twice within a couple weeks and had night and day experiences. July 4th weekend was a great experience. The server was attentive and the food was stellar, smoked meatloaf, hamburger, steak, charcuterie board, and old fashioneds. All worthy of raving. Went back for Friday fish fry and left hungry. We both ordered the broiled cod which was undercooked and dry. No butter to accompany and no sauce except for tarter which had an off putting taste. I am a walleye person but the walleye was beer battered which I thought was odd and too heavy for a walleye so the broiled cod it was. The coleslaw had a strong vinegar taste that was too acidic to eat. We were thankful for the fries at that point. It was offered with a piece of char bread which had so much gas grill smell and flavor it was inedible. It had to have been just sitting on the grill until ordered. Our drinks were very weak compared to the first time going and the server forgot about us so she comped the second round. Ouch. We didn't complain or state the fish was not quite done but we were just overly disappointed as a $22 fish fry for French fries basically. We will return but stick to the beef entrees. read more

I have come here 4 times this summer with family and friends. I absolutely love it!! The food is fresh, unique and delicious. I especially love the salmon. The servings are big. Comfortable setting with interesting menu. Went with 2 friends and we all loved everything. I got the chicken piccata- it was outstanding! Friends got breaded buttermilk chicken sandwich and meatloaf - both raved about. Salads before main dish were wonderful and included fabulously flavored croutons and homemade dressings. Really enjoyed my dark beer - O'so 'Night Rain' porter; brewery out of Plover, WI. Friend loves their brandy Manhattans. Butterscotch custard dessert enjoyed by all as well. Service was excellent! stopped for a sandwich with a friend last night night, 2nd attempt for a meal, and ordered the parkside burger, asked for it medium rare rare, it came out well done, and you could tell it sat there as the cheese all melted off the burger. we went early, it wasn't very busy, but it was a dried out piece of meat, first time i had the chicken sandwich, it was drenched in some type of hot sauce, to the point of being inedible. i like spicy food, but that was ridiculous, i didn't expect a nashville extreme chicken sandwich. Its a shame, as they put so much into the place, it's very nice, great bartenders and servers, maybe they could find a cook that knows how to cook a medium rare burger. read more
