Backyard patio

Beautiful outdoor dining area with a front row water view! Plus the food is fantastic especially for such a small town. If you're into modern eats, you won't regret stopping here. They have lake concerts for free in the summer. Food - loved the numerous vegetarian dishes on the menu. Unfortunately they were out the ones I wanted (hummus and veggie burger). I ended up ordering a roasted tomato bisque which was so tasty. Hubby ordered a pulled pork sandwich and said the meat was so tender and juicy. Service- bit spotty as there was only one server for the entire outdoor dining area. She was a little stressed out when we arrived partly due to the lunch crowd and also running out of food on the menu. Verdict - this is such a rare find for a small lake town that offers modern eats. Definitely recommend stopping for lunch, enjoy their outdoor area and lake view!

Great newly remodeled place. Loved new vibe. Cross between northwoods and higher end city place. Outside grounds are park like! Beautiful with outdoor seating, bar and live bandshell. Food was equally great. Great selection and change of pace over typical northwoods menu. Next to park with docking as well.

They serve Food and Drink as well. Was there with a bunch of folks from Berwyn, IL which was a Czech Stronghold back in the day with a Bohemian restaurant on practically every block. When we saw "Little Bohemia", we were eager customers. Pre-prandial de rigueur in WIsco calls for Brandy Old Fashioneds, and they were quite tasty. The menu actually is more Germanic than Czech, but that's ok. Close enough. There was a Bohemian Rye bread service with a trio of compound butters, all so average I cant remember what they were except for the one wot had chopped olives. That one was fine. There was a relish tray that had a bizzare spread of Peas and Peanuts in a white cream sauce. We couldn't figure out what to do with it. Never saw anything like it in any of the many Bohemian (or Deutsche) joints any of us had ever been to. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't fab either. Now there was a Mushroom soup offered and it was really really yum! Could have had 3 bowls of that and called it a night. For entrees, Roast Duck was on the specials and one of our party got the last order before it was 86'd. Most of us were going to order it as well, so hearing it was off the twig made us scramble back to the menu. My pal who knows the difference said the duck was great. I swung with a pork schnitzel, spaetzle and rotkohl. All three were pretty good. Not as good as the Czech joints in Berwyn, but good nonetheless. Wife had a steak which she was not impressed with. That Schnitzel was $32, by the way, which I thought was a little dear. $32 will just about buy a fine dinner for 2 in any of the remaining Czech joints in the Berwyn area. Service was fine, and we were in the room wot had most of the Dillinger artifacts. I'm throwing 4 for this place 'cos the evening was pleasant, and the basehits overrode the strikeouts...

We pulled up on a Wednesday night in the middle of July and the place was PACKED. We were happy to be able to get a table in the "screened porch", which seemed like the pour over dining area but it was very nice and comfortable. Our waitress, Bailey was delightful! She was a hard worker and understanding the worker shortage in the north woods, it seemed they had no busboys as this poor girl had to not only serve all 5-6 tables in her section, but was forced to buss two of her own tables. Good busboys are the key to turning tables. This young lady who was fairly knowledgeable about the menu although needed to learn a little more about the specials before she got out on the floor. Nevertheless, a quick check on the proper pronunciation and definition of "Pontchartrain Sauce" had me sold on the fried walleye special. Everything is a la carte here so don't be surprised with a pricey tab. That said, IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY. I started with a cup of the Hungarian Mushroom soup, which was phenomenal. This was followed up with as I say the fried walleye with pontchatrain sauce and sautéed green beans that were perfectly cooked; crunchy and delectable. My girlfriend had the French Dip with waffle fries. The beef was good, tender and well made. Drinks we well made and not weak. The bartender came directly to our table when there was a question about the flavored vodka they carried. She offered options and made the order perfect. This was a five star experience and I cannot wait to return

This review is long overdue for Angler's. As a true foodie, who worked for a food manufacturing…read morecompany, who eats out almost 5x a week, and at many of Chicago's best restaurants for 40+ years, I believe I bring an experienced perspective on the quality Angler's provides. Furthermore, as a life-long vacationer/ owner in the Northwoods, I'm very familiar with almost every restaurant in the area. So here goes. ANGLER'S IS THE BEST RESTAURANT IN THE NORTHWOODS. Here are the top must tries and overview. 1. Best speciality soup offerings in the Northwoods (and Chicago!!!). You will not have a more flavorful experience. Not kidding--best ever. Seafood Gumbo is the daily delight, but return often for the different daily variations. The only disappointment I've ever had was a Tomato Bisque. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but just not SPECIAL like the others. 2. Best burger in the Northwoods. I've learned the keys to their taste are two-fold. Their proprietary seasoning is just remarkable--a huge difference maker. Secondly, they only buy premium meat, which makes their burgers (and other items) exceptionally tasty and tender. Together, they will make your mouth water. Again, from vast experience, none better in the Northwoods. And that says a lot considering every establishment offers one... but only Angler's has this catch of the day...everyday. 3. Steak Sandwich. With cheese, onions and mushrooms, it is as tender and flavorful as any I've ever experienced. Why? As referenced earlier, the premium cuts of the most tender (cut it with a fork) meat and seasoning will turn your mouth into a sea of flavor. Of course, this applies to any steaks, chicken, fish and other meals they serve as well. Definitely, no "bland meals" served here. 4. Like a salad? Get it made with any protein added and you will be wonderfully shocked. Homemade dressings are fabulous (blue cheese is exceptional). My wife is picky, and even she says they are one of the best she has ever had! 5. Pizza. Good pizza is hard to find up in the Northwoods, yet, Angler's has a hidden gem here--"Angler's Special". Simply said, compared to Chicago pizza, forgetaboutit! Their Special is killer! While I'm usually a cheese and sausage guy, order the Special. It's, well, to die for! Main dinner meals? Mouth-wateringly good. No throwaways here. All meals make your taste buds dance--no swings and misses. Co-owner Chef Paul and his well-trained Sous Chef are truly artists in the kitchen. Serving large portions, you can't make a bad decision off their menu. What's it like to eat inside there? Well, it's positioned as "a restaurant...not a bar". And, in all aspects, that's true. With a warm, quiet, cabin-like, atmosphere overlooking beautiful Vance Lake, it delivers a wonderfully relaxing Northwoods experience, but never 'bar food'. Additionally, it's combined with a new outside dining area with large screen tvs and live music often. Located on the bike trail, ride on over and grab a table or saddle up to their beautiful bar. Either way, it's a fun, lively time. With any great restaurant, service is key and Angler's over-delivers. Talented, uber-friendly (and kinda sassy in a good way) servers combined with a fun co-owner behind the bar serving perfectly proportioned drinks adds to the dining pleasure. And guess what? Angler's offers all of this at a fair price, too. What a concept! Downsides? Only two. It needs a sundae added to their wonderful dessert options. In Wisconsin, where dairy is so good, just add it. Nothing creamier than Wisconsin ice cream! Secondly, there is a select menu of wonderful faire for outside dining. Currently only available inside, customers would benefit from having Angler's fantastic soup options included on the outside menu. Just a thought...but a tasty idea. NOTE: While other places are given 5-star reviews like candy by, respectfully, less experienced diners/reviewers, trust me--this place actually is number 1. As a true foodie with 40+ years of daily dining at many of the finest restaurants in Chicago, and almost all of the "top" restaurants in the Northwoods over my lifelong experience coming up here, Angler's is simply he best. If you want a restaurant that will consistently tickle your tummy and bring a smile to your face, catch what Angler's is cooking up today. (Reservations are required for dinner.) Bon appetite!

We were seated right away on the screened-in porch area which had a nice view of the lake and park. The service was good, but there was only 1 other table there, so I can't speak for what it's like when it's busy. A few things to note: The portions were very small considering the price. I had the blackened perch with rice pilaf - the taste was fine, but the portion size was very small. For $18, I got 3 small pieces of perch that were about 3 bites each. My mom had the sauteed scallops and a baked potato ($20). The scallops were pretty bland, seemed under cooked and were kind of warm, but not hot. We asked for them to be pan fried to heat them up and so they could cook a few minutes longer. The server took them back right away but they came back clearly microwaved. I by no means am cheap, and am more than willing to pay more for a nice meal, but for what we got and the price we paid, it wasn't worth it. NONE of the servers, the bartender, or bus boy were wearing masks. Also, the menu is all online, so make sure you take your phone. We won't be returning for a second try.
