In all the years I've been going I've only had the Vinny's Calzone or the Bellybuster Stromboli. They're both great and get 5 stars every time. Last night I chose to deviate from my norm and order something different. I went with one of the specials, Tomato Farfalle Pasta Alfredo with Sausage. Not the best dish. The pasta and alfredo were good after adding pepper and a little salt. But the sausage was a big disappointment. It had no taste. The dish was a miss. On a positive note, the complimentary starter bread is delicious.

I really do try to support local businesses whenever I can, especially when I stumble across a new…read morespot organically. I passed Sam's Subs and Pizza on my way to a dentist appointment and decided I'd swing back afterward to grab dinner for my family. Unfortunately, my first visit didn't exactly leave me eager for a second. I pulled into one of the designated takeout parking spaces directly in front, went inside, placed my order, and took advantage of their buy one pizza, get one free deal. I also ordered two chicken Phillys. I was told it would be about 20 minutes, so rather than stand around inside, I went back to my car to wait. While I was sitting there, a woman driving a green vehicle pulled into the space next to me with dog tags hanging from the rearview mirror. The person inside kept staring at me and giving me what could only be described as dirty looks. I initially wondered if they thought I was improperly using the takeout parking without actually ordering. Then they went through the employee-only entrance. When I went back inside to pick up my food, that same person was working behind the counter, and the uncomfortable looks continued. I still have absolutely no idea what that was about. I had ordered food, was parked exactly where a takeout customer should be parked, and was simply waiting for my order. Whatever the reason, it felt unnecessarily rude and made for a pretty awkward first impression. I could have easily overlooked that if the food knocked it out of the park, but unfortunately it didn't. The chicken Philly was disappointing. The chicken was chopped rather than the shaved-style meat I was expecting, there wasn't nearly enough cheese, and the entire sandwich desperately needed seasoning. It was incredibly bland. The pizza didn't redeem the experience either. The large felt much closer to what I'd consider a medium elsewhere. The cheese tasted inexpensive, the crust was just okay, and overall there wasn't anything memorable about it. I hate to say it, but I've had frozen pizza I enjoyed more. Supporting local businesses is something I genuinely enjoy doing, but the experience has to make you want to come back. Between feeling strangely unwelcome before I even picked up my food and then being underwhelmed by what I ordered, this just wasn't a great introduction. Treat new customers like you want them to become regulars. First impressions matter, and unfortunately this one missed the mark.

But if you want solid, no-nonsense pizza at a price that doesn't make your wallet cry--Padrino's II is your jam. I can feed my whole family for under $35, tip included. Try pulling that off at a chain and see what kind of sadness shows up in a greasy box. This is a true mom-and-pop operation: no corporate gimmicks, just reliable, above-average pizza made by folks who've clearly done this a thousand times before. Delivery? Always 45-60 minutes. Never faster, never slower. Hoping for a 30-minute miracle? You must be new here. The dine-in vibe? Let's call it seasoned. Clean freaks might raise an eyebrow, but the hometown feel and genuinely kind staff make up for the scuffed floors and décor straight out of a 1993 pizza calendar. Bottom line: better than most chain joints, cheaper than therapy, and reliably comforting. Padrino's II is a Stafford classic for a reason.
