I had gone to a different dealer and they did a full inspection of my car after aligning and balancing my wheels and an oil change. The ONLY issue they found was that might right wheel bearing needed to be replaced as the back of the car was making a louder sound. I went into Billy's a week later (because they were cheaper) to get the right wheel bearing replaced and after I got the car back, the car was louder than ever. All of the sudden my left wheel bearing supposedly had an issue as well despite another dealer saying it was in great condition. Two days after leaving the shop, my check engine light has been on and despite a few calls to the dealer, no logical explanation has been explained and overall service was awful. I guess you get what you pay for here - strongly recommend going anywhere else, even if more expensive.

My boyfriend and his mother kept pushing me to drop my car off there to have a look at. I was wary as it being a very small shop with practically no review online, but with both of them telling me they have gone here for 15+ years and this shop knows what they are doing, I took their word for it and dropped my car off the first week of September, The worst mistake in this entire world. A week and half later and a $900 bill from the repair shop, Absolutely no cure for the smoke. All was done was a oil change and a treatment was added to the oil for the smoke. We were told the car will forever be like this. OBVIOUSLY, There is something wrong with the car. After some googling online. I opened my hood, pulled out the ignition coil AND DRENCHED WITH MOTOR OIL. The valve cover gasket needs to be replaced. So because I'm afraid of my car being further destroyed by this horrific shop. I am now forced to either spend 1,000+ at a certified dealership OR repair it myself, a beginners in mechanic. PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE. RUN AWAY.

They discovered that the tire had a leak in the valve stem, which they replaced. They also checked the air in all of my tires. When I got home, I went to put the donut back in its place, along with the tools, only to discover they had not only put the tire back, but all of the accessories were also put back in their holder! Instantly I trusted them with my vehicle like I trust my doctor with my body. They feel like more than just professionals. The family vibe was strong. Short story long... I come from a long line of auto enthusiasts. My grandfather was a General Motors man. He drove Bonneville's from the late 50's up until 1973 when he bought an avocado green Buick LeSabre. Some people call those the sad years for American cars but all I have are great memories of being a small kid and falling asleep in the back seat on family road trips. I can still see and feel the warmth of the amber dome light and that floaty couch energy that made every drive feel special. When my favorite uncle got out of the army in the late 70's, he bought a black '79 Camaro Berlinetta with burgundy interior and I count that as the first car I officially fell in love with. We spent many Saturday afternoons washing and detailing his symbol of accomplishment and prosperity and I really learned the value of pride in ownership. By the time the 1980's came around, most people in the family had defected to Japanese imports-which definitely held their own allure-but I never lost my love of classic Americana. When I got to college in the early 90's I was fortunate enough to have my first personal experience with vintage: a 1960 Buick Invicta. I never felt more alive than I did behind the wheel of that car. I've had many wonderful experiences on the road and the most common and essential thread is that I have always had great mechanics to keep me running. I was brought up in the culture of respecting people who work on cars and I have always been in awe of the ones who genuinely love what they do and are really good at it. That's what I get from Bonez. They love what they do. They're fair. They're honest. They look you in the eye. Recently I bought an '84 K5 Chevy Blazer Silverado and I'm SO HAPPY that I've found a place that will help me maintain one of my dream machines. I saw the Bonez 1970 Cadillac hearse driving around several years ago and I always said that someday I'd have a reason to need them. I'm happy that day is here. Buyer's Beware! Be very cautious purchasing your truck here! They don't stand behind their sales;…read morethey offer no real customer service & don't have their affairs in order to be selling vehicles. As a business owner I can say, the only thing they did right was collect payment. Purchased a box truck from this dealership at the end of May thinking it would be a smooth, professional transaction rather than buying it from a random seller. Didn't want the headaches of having an issue with the truck needing repairs after it was purchased, or the title/registration run around that you often get with a personal seller, so took the trip a few hours away to what I thought was a reputable dealership. WRONG!! Picked up the truck & was assured nothing was wrong with it...They clearly stated it had no issues what so ever. Anything that needed to be repaired was fixed and the truck was ready to go. Not long after I got on the road the side view mirror Anthony told me was just REPLACED folded inward to the window while I was driving! In the process of replacing the mirror they must've broke the bolt while tightening it to the arm and never bothered to replace it. Due to their laziness and lack of care they left it that way and let me leave with it like that. The mirror wouldn't stay open! Drove all the way from Wappinger Falls to Eastern LI with my side view mirror folded in. That's some shotty repair work..real chop shop kinda repair. The next day I noticed oil drops under the truck. Bring it to my mechanic and the turbo booster was causing oil to seep through the hose and leak. I had to have it fixed right away because I was advised not to drive it like that. My mechanic said in no way did this happen over night- now the truck is not drive-able & I have to have it repaired immediately. I called Anthony to tell him about the repair and he insisted I bring the truck back so they can take take care of it - impossible because the truck couldn't be driven. I had it repaired and sent him the invoice which the owner of the dealership refused to pay. I even sent him a photo of the hose to show them that it rotted away soaked with oil but still they refused to pay it. I asked them to at least cover the cost of the part I would pick up the labor cost- a fair compromise for a truck that had "NO issues what so ever". He said there was nothing he can do. How about stand behind your word?? Customer service? Guess that wasn't an option! As if the repair issues weren't bad enough we also had issues with the title. The title wasn't at the dealership the day I purchased the truck. Should've been a red flag but at this point I had no reason not to trust the guy. He told me he would send it in the mail within a few days. A few days turned into 3 months! I contacted Anthony every week, he kept telling me they were waiting for the bank, then it was DMV, always an excuse... 3 months of excuses. On top of that, it was a holiday weekend so DMV was closed. To not delay the sale I gave him extra money to cover all DMV fees which he said would be no problem refunding me the difference that week, after he went to DMV. Again, a few days turned into 3 months! We got the title before getting the refund. He forgot all about. When I called him he asked me how much he's supposed to send me?! How do they run a business this way?? In the meantime, as if all of this wasn't bad enough...the VIN he gave me on the temporary registration was wrong. I realized while checking DMV for the status of my title. I asked Anthony about it, he confirmed there was an error when he wrote out the number. This "error" came back to bite me in the ass with insurance & DMV that created a whole new nightmare!

At my recommendation, many of my law enforcement friends and family used him over the years. So naturally when my son recently had an issue with his truck, a 2004 Silverado, we took it to Mel.... And to our absolute shock we got screwed. Badly. The cost was outrageous and it took forever to what amounted to simply replacing a flywheel. Got it back and subsequently learned that many of my friends and family and their business and families also had recent bad experiences with Mel. Guess he really went down hill. However, a few days after we got the truck back we discovered a leak in the transmission that we didn't have before. We didn't have a leak. To avoid Mel, we decided to first look into it ourselves and with a simple visual observation it was clear that when the flywheel was installed the front seal must have been damaged. Reluctantly we took it back to Mel. Feeling like I disappointed my son by recommending Mel to begin with, I hoped that Mel would be responsible and reasonable as the leak was obviously a result of his work. A front seal is nothing and should have been done when he had it apart. Poor workmanship. Transmission work 101. We left the truck for him to inspect the leak. He had the truck for another three weeks. We waited and got the call and instead of just replacing the $15 seal and accepting that he should have caught that, or even just working with us a little , he said it would be over 4800 to rebuild. A rebuild? It doesn't need that, just a front seal, Mel. I explained that the leak was a result of their initial work and their reply wasn't to deny that fact, but rather to say that the truck was driven 1000 miles since their repair. Obscene. Absolutely obscene. I have since learned of many other ppl who were once friendly with Mel and relied on his work also got screwed. I have the names, Mel. Try me. Mel, you were once a good guy, reputable and honest. You are now nothing more than a crook. DO NOT USE ACADEMY TRANSMISSIONS. Almost 30 years of local law enforcement and I have only seen this type of disgusting behavior from the lowest of the low. Mel and Academy Transmission is absolutely the lowest of the low. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
