The spray park is great, inexpensive way to cool off with little kids. There are picnic tables too.

Beautiful! How can you rate a lake? Well there are a few things that come to mind: rest area, bug…read morepopulation, accessibility, and swim-ability. Rest: there are places all around the banks to plop down or set up some folding chairs. There is lots of tree coverage and shade around the lake. Bugs: Plenty. (I think they're primarily baby dragonflies because it's Spring and 'tis the season) Accessibility: There's a parking lot! (G-d bless the 21st century in which natural areas come with parking lots) It also is along the Narrow Gauge Rail-Trail so it's accessible by a bike/walk path. You do need to do a tiny 1-minute hike down a small hill to get to the lake. Swim-ability: Rules for swimming are unknown. I can tell you that right on the edge of the lake, it's a little scummy, so I'm not sure it's appealing/a good idea to do so. No trash though! All in all, a wonderful lake to visit, might not spend the day here, but still worth the pretty views.

Fawn lake is surrounded by a loop trail. It is still a quiet and pleasant trail to walk after…read moredinner. The scenery view is okay but not nothing special or breathtaking. It is an easy hiking trail with an accessible parking lot. The length of the loop trail is about one mile with marks. During the winter, the trail could be muddy after snow or rain. If you were looking for a stunning place, Fawn lake may not be the first choice.

80% of our time here is spent at the new Wilmington dog park. The park is decent but man does it…read morehave some serious flaws that I will address But first the positives; there are about 25 parking spots and if there isn't a softball game going on at the park below, it'll never be full. People are coming and going all the time to the dog area or on a quick hike in the back Its not like the Fells where you have bike warriors revving up for a 30 mile day on the trails and they never leave. The hiking trail that goes around the park and through some pretty desolate wetlands that look like dinosaurs live in them won't take you more than 15 minutes to complete. There are some side trails but most lead to the wetlands and you can't go any further. It's a nice jaunt after work for you and Fido. And then there is the controversial dog park. Firstly, they don't collect any trash here or at other parks in Wilmington so be prepared to take your poop bag with you. I don't know why they couldn't have made an exception here because there are way too many disgusting owners who just leave it behind for the town crew to retrieve. The park itself was built on a hill and its 100% sand. This was a major blunder because the drainage is terrible and either pools at the bottom in a disgusting puddle of dog uuhhmm things, or washes the sand out of the park completely. This really needs to be fixed because it's not going to hold up over time. Most of the dog owners are good even though there are some people who can't seem to realize their pet shouldn't be around others before they end up hurting another in the park. This is great for the area in terms of the benefit it adds but still has a long way to go to become a top notch park.

Poop bags everywhere, poop in the same sand my dog plays in. Just gross and unsanitary pretty much…read morethe same as a litter box to play in NASTY! We honestly dont want to touch our dog after she's been rolling around in smelly sand. Now our dog has irritated eyes and skin. Unless Wilmington DPW changes the layout of the park, plus supplies a barrel for poop bags and trash, Burlington Dog Park will be our alternative. *Sad because our dog loves going to this park but her health comes first as does ours. Not liking the sand kicking up in the air then having to breath it in. So unhealthy for all!
