This park is great, though it would be better for 2 - 5 ages. Older kids can still play here, just…read morenot as much to do. Anyways, onto the playground! Parking is fairly easy, there is a parking lot. Most of the playground is accessible, besides 1 swing. There is 1 swing over sand, 2 swings over rubber, and 1 bucket harness swing over rubber. The is sensory and musical, play equipment in the first part, as well as imaginary play. Secondly, there are low monkey bars and a climber. Next, there is a straight slide and if you go a little higher there is a spiral slide. To get on the playground, there are stairs, a curved ladder, or the monkey bars. For older kids, there is a semicircular climbing net. There is also a baseball field, pickle ball courts, a basketball court, picnic tables with shelter, and 2 trails leading to neighborhoods. It is fully of activities for the younger set, and it would be great to go there for 15 minutes to half an hour!

There are a number of different trails to explore that are well marked/kept (similar to all Trustees spaces). After some rain in the area, some of the areas are a bit muddy, so one may want to keep an eye on the weather/bring hiking shoes or other shoes you don't mind getting some mud on. You can also hear the hum of the freeway nearby. I also saw a wild turkey on this hike, which I trailed behind for about 10 minutes, haha! Glad to run into a fellow hiker on this trail! :)

There is also a covered picnic shelter with a charcoal grill. The front of the park is fenced which is nice but the back end is not. I'd prefer a full fence to ensure little ones can't accidentally wander off and you can also see who is approaching. The park is closed at sunset. The mobilization of this project started back in March 2022. Currently, basketball and tennis courts are open for use. Some playgrounds for kids are available too. Due to the ongoing development, the whole site is not well maintained, but it is still okay for physical exercises. Since it is closed to the center of the town, it provides so much convenience if local residents try to find a place for exercise nearby. The Billerica town has awarded an $ 11 million contract for the ongoing renovation. Hopefully, the renovated complex will make it a better place for leisure and recreation.

Gorham Street Pool - This pool was closed for several years…read more A couple of years ago, they re-did the whole thing and it's clean and nice. There's a decent parking lot. CAUTION - this pool STARTS at 4 feet deep and gets deeper from there. It might not be good for small children. THIS AND THE OTHER POOLS DON'T OPEN UNTIL JULY AND CLOSE IN MID-AUGUST. South Common Pool - South Common is that big, open field off Thorndike Street. It's near the train station. This pool does have a clothes changing/bathroom building, but it's pretty old and not very good. The pool's clean and has steps that lead down to the shallowest part which starts at 2 1/2 feet. There's a playground that's not too old across South Common from the pool. McPherson Pool - 45 Richardson Street - has a brand new this year (2010) large playground RIGHT NEXT TO the pool. Fletcher Street Pool (State, not city, operated) - This and McPherson are both similar in structure and condition (well maintained pools, start with steps that lead down to 2 1/2 feet at shallow end and old, kind of crappy changing rooms/bathrooms) to the South Common Pool. There's a small, new-ish playground across North Common from the Fletcher Street pool. POOL HOURS: open at noon and close at 6pm. They offer one hour FREE SWIMMING LESSONS to kids at 10 am on a couple of days mid-week
