Had to be in Raleigh for a few hours yesterday, so on the way back to the parking garage I started looking for a place for a late lunch. Spotted the Manhattan Cafe across the street and wandered over. Had one of the best cheeseburgers with fries ever! The burger was just right and had lots of cheese melted on top. The fries were hot and crisp. They even had Cheerwine in the drink dispenser. They had a lot of other offerings like salads and a wide selection of sandwiches, but I'm not sure I can get past the burger here. Service was friendly and efficient and the place was clean. read more

Meh. Sandwich was pretty good, but so unevenly and sloppily put together (I got it to go), it was no fun to eat. Actually it was work to eat. I'm already working, that's why I got it to go. $2.49 fruit cup was about two shotglasses full of mostly Dole pineapple equivalent. Zero melon in mine. Not a grape in sight. I'm starting to rethink this three stars, but I'll stick with it because the service was good and fast. But meh. read more

We discovered this cafe this morning. It is a super fun restaurant with many New York components. Will certainly be back for their soups!

Been going there for years. Food's fine. Tried to order a sandwich this morning and one of the owners told me off because he didn't like the way I ordered, or just didn't want this customer anymore. The other owner just watched. To be clear, all I did was mention to the guy that the cook knew my order, and he would not have to run the order back to him. Previous owner was friendly. If anyone wants a mostly full punch card, let me know. Not going in there again. They are friendlier in Manhattan. The owner's response is deceptive. I was not trying to order directly from the cooks. The owner was just having a bad day and was nasty to a regular, polite customer for no apparent reason. His behavior was unacceptable and they should be ashamed. They can figure out their drama with ordering in the back in private. That issue is really not my concern as a customer. I will point out that when I politely cancelled my order, the owner said something like "whatever." Put a person in charge of taking orders who is competent to deal with the public. And maybe focus your efforts on keeping good customers rather than responding to Internet reviews. read more

I always read a place 1 to 5 stars based off of The category that establishment is in. For a deli café this is five stars. My boyfriend eats here every day and I am here at least once a week. I've never seen anywhere else where you can get a salad made as large and nutritious as you can here. They have regular soups and sandwiches and a few that are just their specialties. Try the one with Brie. Love coming here. The only thing they could do for me is offer more comfortable stools at the front window. They are so high and there is nowhere for short people to rest their feet so my legs go to sleep. Ouch. read more

Manhattan Cafe is one of the best go to places for a sandwich downtown. Wanted a non meat option and asked for suggestions and was so happy I ordered the vegetarian flatbread sandwich. My husband ordered the steak sandwich and he was very pleased as well. French fries were fresh, hot and delicious. The new owners have done a great job with the menu and the salad bar is a great idea. The traffic they were getting speaks for itself. Believe they are a hidden gem in downtown but it won't take long. The staff is super friendly and very accommodating. Thanks to Mic for his recommendation! We will be back for sure! read more

This place started out with A1 Customer Service, however that has since declined. My job is a short distance from this place so my coworkers and I order all the time. After several instances of them messing up both mine and my work partners order, she stressed to them this morning when she called how she wanted our food and "Mick" was extremely rude, talking over her as she made her request and yet again my food wasn't as I ordered it. The food was delicious but the staff was even better! By far the best customer service I've experienced in a while! We ordered chicken salad sandwich and chicken quesadilla. The quesadilla was average but the chicken salad was AMAZING! I highly recommend! I couldn't decide between the fajita panini and chicken salad and asked for the staff's recommendation. She recommended the chicken salad but insisted if I ended up not happy with it they would bring me out the panini. Of course, there was no need for that though! Cute little reasonably priced place tucked in the side of an office building on Wilmington street with covered outdoor seating and brightly painted graffiti walls. They serve hot breakfast, sandwiches and salad and by the looks of it have a robust catering business. Probably my favorite lunch spot in downtown. They have good sandwhiches and pasta but my favourite is the salad bar. Always fresh and they have everything you could want on a salad. Great prices to be in downtown as well. Also dont miss Philly Friday. Great philly cheese steaks and fries for like 6 or 7 bucks. They also have breakfast but I havent tried that yet. I stopped by here one morning after work and got an omelette and home fries. I'm not sure why, but I didn't have really high expectations. I was pleasantly surprised, though. The omelette was delicious and the breakfast potatoes were my favorite in the area. They were fresh and pan fried instead of deep fried, with some green peppers and onions. They were really flavorful. The guy working the counter also gave me a hot doughnut to try because they were experimenting with a new product/recipe or whatever and it was actually really good, too.
