(6/3/2019) Came for breakfast while at a conference at the convention center. Had a pretty hard time finding the entrance, but perhaps only because we were just tourists. The BELT (bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato) is a great morning sandwich, and the one I had was freshly made and some good quality ingredients. My coworker, however, had the AM Power Wrap, and it was not a good experience. It was pretty wet, like when she picked it up and held it open end down, watery juices poured out of it. I suspect it's overheating turkey breast that's injected with a fair amount of saline during processing and also cooking spinach without draining adds insult to injury for the sandwich. Seems like a fun family owned place (three brothers from Florida). Also seemed like a bustling lunch catering business tending to the office buildings downtown. This place is awsome for for breakfast and lunch. They have pick 2 or 3 combos where you can get a sandwhich and a cup of soup which was great, you can also pick the 3rd from the salad bar. Everything is freshly made here. They even have a pasta station where they make tour pasta fresh. I will definitely be back! read more

I pass by Manhattan Cafe everyday going to and from work. I finally decided to give their lunch a try. Man, I'm glad I did. I normally pack my lunch, but sometimes I like to treat myself to a nice lunch. The amount of "reasonably" priced healthy lunches in DTR are slim. Manhattan Cafe brings home the gold. They have one of the best best lunch combos in DTR. For about 6 bucks you can get "pick 2" or for about 8 bucks, "pick 3" of these items --Any 1/2 Sandwich (Deli, Wrap, Pita), Cup of Soup & Side Salad. I ordered half of a chicken Caesar wrap, cup of wild chicken and rice soup and a side salad. They have an AMAZING salad bar with great toppings and dressings. (If you are taking it to go, I would recommend getting dressing on the side. They normally mix everything together for you.) I will definitely come back! read more

Okay. Seriously. HOW have I never been here before? I have lived here for what...NINE YEARS and never been here? Shame on meeeeeeee. This afternoon I decided to stop in at lunch, mostly because I wasn't in the mood for any of my usual spots. The line was enough to make me curious so I grabbed a menu and decided to try my luck. And i'm so glad I did! First off there is a lot of variety here, you have your choice of create your own salad, create your own pasta or a large menu of sandwiches! I decided on the Turkey and Brie with a bag of chips and soda. My entire meal came to $10 which wasn't bad at all, especially considering how much I enjoyed my sandwich. It was by no means massive but it was plenty of food for me! The turkey was plentiful, there was the perfect amount of Brie and the apples were very fresh! The only thing I wasn't a massive fan of was the mustard (I think) on it...But getting that omited next time is easy enough. Also the chips here, while not fresh made, are legit. I had the onion flavor and now i'm craving them! Along with the food the service was also on point! The lines went and the food came surprisingly fast, tables were being bussed quickly and I was even checked on by the nicest guy--who also let me try a delicious donut since it was my first time! I'm moving across the street next month and I already know i'm going to have a problem coming here every other day! I'm super excited to try their breakfast.....And maybe another donut. :) read more

Manhattan Cafe offers sandwiches, soups, and create-your-own pastas and salads. I am always in the mood for a great Manhattan-style sandwich. Now, you may wonder what comes on a Manhattan Club, since that is not one of the sandwiches that is on display. Well, wonder no more - ham, turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. I decided to order that, chips, and a drink - $10. Their food came out in a reasonable enough time. I was immediately disappointed by the size of the sandwich. Bite into it, and am I overwhelmed by the burst of flavors? Nah. Ham, turkey, and bacon are all cheap ingredients. I'm not opposed to paying a lot for sandwiches. Heck, I even spent $20 for a sandwich that combined quality and portion size at Katz Deli. Alas, that was in the real Manhattan. The Manhattan Club reminds me of every other obnoxious cafe that I've been to - slightly overpriced, more than slightly underwhelming. My favorite part of the meal was the chips. They carry very cool potato chips here that I've never seen before, and I enjoyed the chips immensely. I'm sure I'll be back to try the salads or pastas, but I'm definitely not impressed by the sandwiches. ***Update/response to some passive aggressive garbage*** The people that work here are nice. There is a lot to like about Raleigh, and certainly things that make it preferable to Manhattan. I'm sure there are some legitimately great menu items, but I no longer intend to find out. I have never felt strongly enough about a place to write a review, but this food is AMAZING! I went on a Saturday because they have the cities best donuts ever, only on Saturdays though, so plan accordingly. Just know, I'm a donut snob and these are A++ in my book. The food was good. I got the Thai chicken wrap combo. The chicken was very tender and the sauce was super tasty. Why, then, does it get four stars instead of five? When you walk in, there are two separate ordering areas with different items and various cram-packed menus all over the walls. It was my first time in and I was trying to figure out what to do and what I wanted. I was standing back and letting folks who were ready go ahead of me, but my methods were not acceptable to the folks behind the counter. One girl kept looking at me, waving her hands over her head and saying, "Hey! HEY! Over here!!! Come on!" To say I felt rushed is an understatement. They weren't even busy. I've had a lot of items here from the pasta to salad to sandwiches to soup. The shrimp bisque is the best! Their quesadillas are actually good, I'm not a quesadilla fan, but they do it right. Their sandwiches are fresh and tasty. Specials of the week are usually way too delicious and need to be made main menu items. The best thing is their pick 2 or 3 deal, you get a deli sandwich and a salad or soup for just under $7 for 2, under $8 for 3 items. That's just a great deal. You go up to the counter and order and then wait for your food to be made fresh- some sandwiches are already made and are still the freshest. The ingredients for your custom-made pasta is mixed in right before your eyes, as are the salads. There are so many ingredient choices, which I like- unless I'm starving then it's even harder to decide. My first time here. I had the prosciutto de Parma sandwich with a roast pepper aioli. It was tasty and customer service was great. My wife was disappointed with the salad bar, not for lack of choice or fresh ingredients, but from the miniscule portions. If she hadn't insisted they give her more she would have had a box full of 90% lettuce. They may have to come up with another system so they can make their profit but the customer feels like they're getting their money's worth. read more

Tried this place at on a recommendation from a coworker and was blown away! Had the Philly Cheesesteak and it was delicious! I knew the food was going to be good because the place was packed! The folks working were cranking food out despite the lunch rush even though I did have to wait for what I felt like was much longer for my food. I love their salad bar for lunch. You pick your own ingredients and they mix it together in front of you. The staff is very accommodating. One day I arrived late for lunch, around 2pm, and they pulled stuff out of the refrigerator just to make a salad. Super nice staff. And fast. Since I'm not downtown during the day, I didn't get to try their lunch until I finally took a day off and stopped in. It's what you'd expect - cafe with sandwiches, soups, and salads. Except the quality of the food is a step above the typical diner/cafe restaurant. My basil pesto chicken pita was superb - portion size just right, and the food was fresh, the staff very courteous and helpful. It was plenty busy, and for good reason. Manhattan Cafe is setup with two stations where you can pick your own ingredients to create your own Pasta or Salads. They also have a pre-made sandwich cooler. I have been to Manhattan Cafe three times for lunch as I work in the downtown area. The first time I went to the pasta section. I ordered a wheat pasta (which is extra charge) and all of my other ingredients. All of the items are cooked infront of you. As i was served my pasta (with alfredo sauce, mushrooms, grilled chicken, and some other spices) I found the pasta to actually be a little on the cold side and the alfredo sauce far too greasy. Bad first experience. I returned a second time for the sandwich section. Their, I ordered a pressed panini and it was satisfactory. You can't really expect more from a pre-made sandwich that was pressed in a toasted. Third, I returned for the salad section. If it wasnt for their salad options, the rating would be a one star. Their options are plentiful and their sauces vary from savory to sweet, and with many low fat/calorie options. From now on, the only thing that I eat there are the salads. read more

Grabbed lunch at Manhattan Cafe today while working in Raleigh, I was undecided if I should get a sandwich or go with the make your own salad. I ended up going with the salad- good choice! You choose your greens, then your protein and the remaining add ons. All items were fresh and you have a lot of items to choose from, different cheeses, veggies and even almonds, walnuts etc.. Came here during a lunch rush mid-week and the folks running Manhattan Cafe know how to handle a rush. Definitely have options for everyone, a salad bar, pasta bar, soup and sandwiches, literally every lunch option imaginable. Love how the sandwiches are in a display case so you know exactly what you are getting. I enjoyed the roast beef and cheddar. Definitely worth it for a cheat lunch. It's warmed up on a brioche bun which is probably the best sandwich roll made but what makes this sandwich is the chipotle mayo. It's not super spicy but just enough to off set the salty sandwich. Absolutely delicious. I'm a lover of soup and can eat it in the heat of summer and ordered a side of their chicken gumbo. Not my favorite, it was loaded with celery and okra and not as much other goodies. The hubby enjoyed the chicken parmesan on flatbread with fries and had nothing but great marks. I used to go here when my cousin and our favorite part was going in the early mornings on Saturdays and getting there on time for the DONUTS. They would run out by like 11 or so. Breakfast options are limited to bagel sandwiches and wraps, but the ingredients added to these offerings makes the meal notable. There are numerous healthy options beyond the standard breakfast meats and eggs but seating is limited and an 8am opening may not suit early risers or pre work appetites. Great for a quick breakfast or lunch. I've been known to eat here not only several times in a week, but several times in a day. The staff working get to know regular customers and are interested in how they've been. The breakfast wrap I get is very good for the value and quickly made. It's usually the sausage, egg, and cheese wrap. I've had the make your own pasta for lunch, as well as the many different sandwiches, wraps, and paninis. I highly recommend either. read more
