Service and vibe of the place were both great. There are so many options on both the sandwich side and salad bar that I'm sure you can't go wrong. I built my own sandwich/wrap and went with a buffalo chicken wrap on a spinach tortilla with pepper jack cheese, lettuce, and jalapeños. Oh and also the chipotle (crack) spread, which is a must. Great variety on the menu between paninis, salads, soup, etc. Quite often you can learn a lot about business when things don't go as planned. A customer spilled their drink my coworker and I both jumped up to help clean up and notify the team working behind the counter. When I told him he smiled and said "no problem". The place was busy because it was lunchtime so I didn't interact with the staff. I has the chicken calabrese and it was good. I have been a huge fan of Manhattan Cafe since I first tried it from an Offline Perk in 2019. Their food is amazing and so affordable. I am a huge fan of the buffalo chicken wrap- don't forget the side of crack sauce, it is one of my favorite condiments ever. I love a good salad bar since they are so rare these days and this one is amazing and has so many options. I love that they make it for you and toss it up before putting it in the container. I recently took some coworkers who had never been before, and they all loved it. In 2019 they used to have Saturday hours so I wish they would add those back in. Or extend into Durham because I would be there every week. Well I had high hopes for this place. It is always packed and smells good walking past. I went in today the customer service was great. I ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap with fries and a drink. Being honest the chicken is dry and nothing about the wrap says buffalo. It does not have any spice to it and really honestly kind of bland. The salad bar looked really good. Place was recommended by my sister. She was a frequent customer prior to the pandemic. The pick two was a popular item and that's what my son choose. He ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap with a side salad. He got to customize the salad with 3 toppings. He said it was the best wrap he ever had. I order the salad and customized it with chicken and other toppings. The Buffalo ranch was a great dressing. I also ordered the Cajun chicken panini. I have frequently lamented that's it's nearly impossible to find a restaurant based on how good their salads are and WOW this place must have heard me complaining because that's the best salad I've had in a long time. Yeah it's a "salad bar" but it's behind glass and the servers make it and toss it for you based on your selections. They have a beautiful variety (no iceberg to be seen!) with plenty of meat and vegetarian protein options, good cheeses, and colorful mixins. This downtown cafe is across from Clyde Cooper's. They have an awesome selection of breakfast items, sandwiches, wraps, and paninis from the deli and the grill. They also have quite the salad "bar". Note: they are not doing doughnuts anymore! Hate that I never got to try one that others have mentioned. Order at the counter. Staff is friendly. They take your name and deliver to you at your table or booth. (outdoor tables are available also). Food arrived piping hot. My Western Omelet was loaded with peppers, onions, cheese and meats, and the chipotle sauce added a lot of flavor (yet wasn't spicy). I expected to have to kick up the home fries, but these fresh taters were seasoned just right and cooked perfectly. It's squeezed into two counters (Deli/pasta and the salad bar) and elbow room is lacking when it's full, tucked away under an awning crammed in with a UPS office. But it's conveniently located to everything downtown, fast, friendly, with an exhaustive menu including quick salad bar, cold and hot sandwiches, burgers, cheesesteaks and fries, and a pasta bar and daily soups. See? Everything. Disclaimer: this food is not _great_. It's sufficient, good in some cases, but it's literally exactly what you would fix at home with standard issue grocery store food. Basic buns, basic meats, good sauces, standard fries. The salads are unnecessarily massive, more than one person can eat in a day (not that I want to eat a dressed salad later? ) so I opt for a side salad with extra toppings (still plenty), but I find their dressings a little bland. Lunch does get busy here and there usually is a line but you can be in and out in under 10 minutes. There's indoor and outdoor seating but I usually grab food to go. I usually come for the salad bar because you can make your own. I love having all the options in front of me. They also have a pasta bar and sandwich station. There's hot and cold options for almost everything on their menu. Aside from lunch, they also serve breakfast here, I have not been here during that time but will post once I do. We couldn't have asked for a better lunch spot! It was crowded, so again we followed the pack and figured we had found a winner... And winner it was! I had the Tuscan Chicken sandwich and it was delicious. It came on a massive ciabatta bun and was packed with meat. The flavors were bold, they spread on the most amazing chipotle mayo sauce, and my sandwich came out HOT (which I love!). My boyfriend got the Chicken Calabrese, which was also delicious. Both the pesto and cheese were plentiful. His sandwich was actually a pita sandwich (aka double the pita... A pita on top and a pita on bottom) so it felt even bigger than mine! We shared a bag of chips and a pop and were very, VERY full walking out of there. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating, which allows you to choose your personal preference on dining. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because we went during lunch rush, so a lot of the sandwiches were already made. This is totally smart because it helps the line move quickly, BUT it was clear our Chicken Calabrese had been warmed up on the grill press more than once because it was a little more crunchy than it should have been. Not a huge deal at all, and it definitely didn't spoil the meal, but I would want my pita a little more fresh than that.
