As outstanding as Dr. Oushy and Santa Teresa Smiles is next door, when it comes to customer care and competency, it is the complete opposite at Premier Family Dental. No, I am not getting paid by anyone to write this review. 1. The dentist only comes one day a week to the Santa Teresa location. 2. Inside, there are no separate patient rooms but one big hall with a bunch of what looks like used dental chairs. 3. The doctor seems personable enough but seemed a lot focused on getting paid rather than helping the patients. His manners seem fake and not genuine. He said he will do some work today but when I questioned their incorrect insurance coverage calculations, they made me get out of the chair and go the waiting area. So rude! 4. Not sure why but I had to go there twice for "evaluation and treatment plan." 5. For any kind of major works, they send you to a NE El Paso location. This doctor only seems to do minor dental work. 6. The real weakness of this establishment is the support staff. They seem new and completely incompetent: - They said they can't handle more than one insurance carrier for a patient. - Later they said they can't process more than two insurance carriers. - They claimed one of my dental insurances was for medical coverage. - They said one of my carriers was Federal. I know of no such company. - They said the form they use only has place for two insurance carriers. - They said they will investigate how to deal with three carriers and that they will call me today. - I will be shocked if I ever hear back from these people ever. 7. If you are considering using this dentist, please don't walk. Run from them.

How fortunate! This is the best dentist and dental practice I have come across -- an assessment I…read moredon't make casually having experience with a number of highly-regarded dental practitioners and orthodontists in coastal CA. Am pleased to share that I've been a satisfied patient of EPQD for five years. Finding this dental practice was a reassuring part of returning to and resettling in ELP after being away for many years. Normally I hesitate to make an unreserved recommendation -- individual expectations can be so different. Who knows what anyone else values in any service right? Important to me: Good communication including food listening. Firm recommendations when action is needed. Genuinely kind and thoughtful staff. Well trained and focused professionals. Thorough and gentle cleaning. Patient education focus. High quality services with no pressure for additional option. And equally high quality referrals to related professionals as needed. So when I was asked if I would be comfortable putting in writing some feedback I'd verbalized I thought back to my own past positive experience of making a face to face referral of another professional colleague new to ELP. The referral I made immediately circled back when my colleague let me know that their family had the same "best dental experience". My positive experience at EPQD is not unique.

Prior to finding Dr. Castro, I hadn't successfully been to a dentist in 10 years. Not only do I…read morehave PTSD, but due to several horrific experiences including a botched oral surgery that required general anesthesia, I had been TERRIFIED of going to the dentist. I even tried a children's dentist here in El Paso at Kool Smiles just for him to accuse me of being a drug addict. He then yelled at me and literally stormed out the room (slamming the door behind him which scared me even more) all because I was shaking and flinching when he touched me. These are things I cannot control. I would often get emotional as well because of how scared I was. I truly thought there was no hope for me. One day in 2018, I realized I had the worst of the worst when it comes to tooth infections. I was in unbearable agony. I googled "sedation dentistry El Paso" and thankfully, Dr. Castro was one of the first names to pop up. I called several places that day and not only was Dr. Castro's staff IMMEDIATELY concerned about me, they told me to come in that very day so the doctor could take a look at me. I asked them a million questions and they assured me Dr. Castro was the best and he knows how to handle a case like mine. First arriving at his office I was comforted by his staff and the quiet back room they put me in. I had anxiety just sitting in the dentist chair so the girl gave me the remote to my personal TV to try and relax. Each chair has its own TV in the room. After I was made very comfortable, Dr. Castro came in shortly after and began a very intimate and caring interview about my PTSD. I was really shocked by this. Never have I had a dentist just sit down to talk to me to assess what my needs and issues are before even attempting to look into my mouth. For medical purposes, he asked about my trauma and wanted to know about every single bad dental experience I've had in my life. Once I had told him everything, he asked if it was okay if he could look at my tooth. Even though I felt very safe and confident with him, I had all my natural reactions such as flinching when he came near my face. Nothing fazed him. He proceeded at my comfort and stayed calm the entire time. When he was finished he told me, "you're really not the worst case I've seen. You have absolutely NOTHING to worry about! YOU DID GREAT!!!" The relief that washed over me in that moment was life changing. I hurried to my car when it was over because I couldn't help but breakdown into tears because it was as if I was finally letting go of 25 years of abuse and malpractice by the dental industry. I ended up needing a root canal and crown for that really bad tooth. Dr. Castro gave me antibiotics to help the infection and then Dr. Stuart (who is a few doors down) did the root canal (which is his specialty) and Dr. Castro did my crown. It was very expensive but to this day, the tooth is beautiful. Any issues I had with it were immediately corrected and I now have a healthy tooth with zero issues. Unfortunately, the extensive work Dr. Castro needs to finish in my mouth isn't possible because I used every last penny of my savings to fix the most immediate issues. But I'm telling you, it was worth every single cent. And every place he has referred me to get the other work done that he himself doesn't do have been phenomenal as well. Dr. Castro REALLY knows his stuff, and best of all, he's an extremely caring person. Every time I've been in his care, he has ALWAYS called me from his personal phone to check on me the very next morning. I've never experienced that even from a doctor before in my life. I also have the emergency number saved and I know I can call it whenever I have an urgent matter now that I'm an established patient (which I've had to do). I feel like I can trust dentistry again because of Dr. Castro. I'm trying to save up the money to bring in my brain damaged and paralyzed mother in to see him because he is the only person I will trust with her dental care. If anyone can help my mom who doesn't have control over her mouth, it's him. The miracles he worked on me is proof of that. Whenever that does happen, I'll be sure to report back on how that goes because I NEVER see anything about dentists who can handle stroke/brain damaged patients. This is something I feel needs to change because they are a people in need. But I have every faith that Dr. Castro will be the dentist I'll be able to write reviews all over the Internet about after he sees my mom. That way I can hopefully help another patient like my mom find Dr. Castro in the future, as I hope I'm helping whoever is reading this find him. Lastly, I want to make sure to mention that I have NEVER had so much of a hint of rudeness or disrespect from ANY of the staff or Dr. Castro himself. They have gone above and beyond for me EVERY SINGLE TIME. You won't find a better dentist in El Paso, possibly in the whole country.

BE VERY CAREFUL. They try to upsell everything. They take advantage of the elderly and screwed my…read moremom out of nearly $2000. 2nd opinions for both me and my mom resulted I. Much less work needing to be done. I would not go to him if he were the last dentist on the planet. I need them to get me off their email list. Maybe they monitor Yelp.
