The fries were greasy. the salad was soggy, soggy, and the nachos-Well I don't know how big the can of cheese was, but more is not better. I know help is hard to find here but this place was awful, and when the food did come out it was at the hands of a sweaty teenager with unkept shoulder length hair and a sideways ball cap. And now.... The food. I ordered the mahi sandwich and it was "off". Just slightly, but I've eaten Mahi all my life and I know it when I taste it. Also came out with absolutely NO sauce or dressing of any kind, as did my daughters shrimp po boy. When I asked for the mahi to be removed from my bill they ARGUED with me! They almost refused but agreed in the end. However, to punish us, I suspect , made us wait 30 minutes for our tab. The piña coladas were awful too, the kind made from a bottle mixture you buy at the grocery. The open air ambience is lovely and with tonight's breeze it's what drew us in. We had a large party and had separate tickets and 5-6 large parties received their appetizers, foods, checks, and left before we got our food. When we received our food it was all wrong and the regular burgers were the size of kids burgers, picture included. Horrible service and to top it off I didn't even get my food. Worst place to eat on the island! Don't waste your time and money on this place. Our waitress, Taylor, was awful. We arrived and waited 1.5 hours for our food. Waitress never asked if we wanted a refill or anything. She kept telling us "food should be out any minute"- 45 minutes later it arrived. When the food finally did arrive, it was Luke warm & I got the uneasy feeling that it was left over food from other people's trays. The 2nd worst part is that the ticket- already includes a 20% gratuity that isn't told before- so no matter how awful our waitress was and never checked in, she still got a decent tip. She was however, very attentive when it came time to take our check. The restaurant was only at about 25% capacity. We looked around the restaurant & felt as if we weren't in the minority......Lots is irritated tables & unhappy customers. Made total sense why Blue Parrot was a 2 hr wait & Paddys was 45 min wait and this place sat us immediately. Everyone else on the island knew to steer clear of this place. Ordered a to go order, when presented the bill there was a credit card surcharge addedt to the bill, asked to have the surcharge removed since i was paying with a debit card (there is a federal law that states a surcharge can not be added to a debit card) they refused said I had to pay, I still refused, then they called the police. the best thing about mango mikes is that there's never a wait, bc everywhere else on the island is better than this joint. the food is okay, the drinks are whatever. ive had some fun here several times. however, you will wait forever to get anything you ordered. if you look at an item labeled "potato wedges," and fail to ask the server to list every single ingredient in the dish, that's your problem. the potato wedges are covered in bacon (not on the menu). if you're a vegetarian they won't bring you a veggie option, they wont take it off your table, and they wont take it off your bill. the manager says its "common sense" to ask for an itemized list of every ingredient if you have dietary restrictions (bc thats not what menus are for???) she also stormed of mid conversation like a child. apparently its YOUR job as a vegetarian customer to ask which menu items (i.e. potatos) have meat in them. the manager won't make it right or treat you with respect, she'll take it out on her server and try to make them pay for it. After leaving the restroom I could hear the kitchen staff cussing over how busy they were. I asked to speak with co-owner, John, to very politely let him know he might need to shut the propped open door to the kitchen because walking behind me were 2 little girls about ages 5 to 7. John came over to the table to tell me to "make it quick because he was busy...then in the same breath asked if we wanted to buy the place". I told him I was a small business owner as well and understood his frustrations. Apparently John was having a bad day because he yelled at me "you think I give a sh*t. I hear this sh*t everyday". Now... WE LOVE ST GEORGE and the people. We understand staffing issues, Spring Break headaches, and just being tired. But the response from John not only hurts Mango Mikes...it hurts an entire community as well. Weather you like it or not St George depends on tourism. The contractors, property management teams, restaurants, adventure rental stores, etc would simply be devastated if no one came to visit. We have NEVER been treated so poorly and simply hope that no one else visiting Mango Mike's will be either. On a positive note, the ENTIRE, wait staff was amazing!!! Doc Myers was great when it first opened. Then it went down hill from there. I was hoping the new ownership would return it to past glory but it's 0-3 in my experience.
