Maneki Neko is a Japanese specialty store (established in 2009) with three other locations in Burbank, Arcadia, and Brea. Maneki Neko also operates a sister concept store called CATCH Little Tokyo located on the third floor of Japanese Village Plaza. [Parking]: As long as there are no special events in Little Tokyo, the Aiso Parking Garage (101 Judge John Aiso St) is your best bet. [Selection]: The shop has transitioned from primarily selling traditional decor / ceramics / cosmetics (which the shop still carries but in a smaller section) to focusing mainly on plushies and blind boxes featuring IPs like Sanrio, Pokémon, and other Japanese anime. Even though an officially licensed Sanrio store is located next door, Maneki Neko still has an excellent selection of Sanrio items that you can't find at the next-door licensed Sanrio store. [Conclusion]: This is one of those shops where I can probably find a Sanrio plush that I am willing to buy as a gift. It is a perfect example of a thriving shop that has learned to adapt by keeping up with changing consumer tastes. read more

One of the bigger Maneki Neko that I've been to and once in awhile they have super bargain sales here. I don't think anything can ever beat the old Arcadia location when I got super cheap and nice cosmetics for around $1 (think Missha and Majolica Marjorca, but this only happened when things reopened after the lock down), but you can still find some good deals here. Similar to the Arcadia location, there's a mix of legitimate items here and a couple questionable, potentially bootleg items, so make sure you check and read the labels and compare prices online and the such. I like how this location plays into the culture and touristy-ness of the Little Tokyo with the daruma statue photo op in front and the pressed penny machine. I'm a sucker for pressed pennies, so this was nice. I've gotten super cheap sword props for cosplay, cute super cheap random character plushies and merchandise (think generic cats), and in an ocean of blind box slop shops in LT, I prefer Maneki Neko in comparison. read more

Anytime I'm in Little Tokyo, I usually make a quick stop at Maneki Neko because it's always fun to browse and see what new things they have in stock. The shop itself is on the smaller side, but they really pack a lot into the space. They carry a little bit of everything from snacks and blind boxes to household items and stationery. There's also a huge selection of Sanrio and anime merchandise, so it's a great place to find cute collectibles or small gifts. Whether you're shopping for yourself or looking for something fun for someone else, chances are you'll walk out with something. The staff has always been friendly during my visits, and while the store can get pretty busy at times, the overall experience is still enjoyable. Prices are fairly decent for the area which is definitely a plus. If you happen to be in Little Tokyo and enjoy browsing cute or quirky shops, I'd definitely recommend stopping by--it's worth the visit! read more

This is such a fun store that opens earlier than the other ones in the Japanese Village Plaza. There are so many Pokemon plushies (I want, but I have no room for these!) and big selections of blind boxes. There was one on display but not on the shelves. The lady kindly went to their storage room and found the blind box that I was interested in. There are also plenty of souvenirs if you're not really into the anime stuff. Parking is available in the parking garage on 111 S Central Ave ($4 every 15 minutes or $20 max). read more

Blind boxes galore at this fun and exciting shop! Weekends are popular; however, you can still shop with ease and take in all the fun merchandise. They carry a plethora of IPs from different brands, which makes it a one stop shop for all your blind box needs! They offer different discounts on certain items so I'm sure you can find some fun targets. read more

So I buy one blind box of wild but cutie to treat myself to get one as my first collection of wild but cutie cats, and I got neon cutie I love it it's so cute! For the blind boxes you can't find any of your favorite collectors items at Popmart it's always sold out. The workers were amazing, so kind and friendly with a smile! The shop owner, lady who cashed us out was SO NICE AND FRIENDLY. She was very patient with us making payment and she was very cheerful! Delightful experience as always! read more

Maneki Neko is the sister store of CATCH (which is on the 2nd floor across from Maneki Neko. You can take the elevator or stairs so they are super close to each other. The first thing I want to bring to your attention is HOW MUCH BLIND BOXES there are of various kinds. You've got some for newer popular anime series to older classic favorites, to several miscellaneous but ultra cute original characters (I'm looking at you, Baby3)! Watch out for end of season sales, although I'm not sure how often these happen, but I was in for a treat the last time I visited in mid-February. They had up to 50% off on select items, and they did not disappoint! One final piece of advice, other than if you're trying to avoid the crowd to arrive at opening hours and avoid the lunchtime, is to BYOB! This means bring your own bag (not booze)! Trust me, you'll wanna thank me later. :) I do recommend a bigger tote bag if you have one at home. The store does provide you with bags, but when your haul gets big/heavy, a nice tote will make carrying all those blind boxes A LOT easier. I went to 3 other merchandise stores including a Final Fantasy popup and ended up chucking everything in my one medium to large canvas tote. My palms thanked me for it. I'll include a picture of next haul since I wrote this review later than intended. Happy shopping! read more

Another cutesy shop filled with so much cute Japanese plushies, stationery, games, figurines and more. We went in to browse the options and soak in the AC (to get out of the heat). There was some cute plushie that I wanted but was wayyy too big to fit in my luggage and I didn't want to carry it while walking around the plaza. I did end up getting a small, cool looking umbrella that looks like a sword. Zoro from One Piece umbrella. Make sure to bring enough money or credit card to pay because you will want to spend it here at the shop and browsing the plaza. read more

SHE LIED TO MY FACE saying its on sale when it wasn't and because its make up i couldn't return it...No one told me any of that information at the end of my purchase or during... but on the receipt it has terms and condition. the register ladies were bulling me in their language and started laughing because of a rerun...NEVER GOING HERE EVER AGIN ! Service was off but staff was sweet and kind. They have some of the popular viral Labubu behind counter but extremely overpriced. Rest of the store has tons of other blind boxes and kawaii items. Kids and adults would love this shop. I hurried to Little Tokyo when I saw on their Instagram page that they were going to have The Monsters x One Piece. Business actually messaged me back when I asked if there was a limit on purchase and they assured there wasn't. They confirmed that although online quantity was sold out, they would have them in the Little Tokyo location the next day. I arrived to Japanese Village Plaza a little over 25 minutes before they actually opened and waited right in front. When staff arrived to open up shop they said they don't know what I was talking about, I showed them pictures. They repeated that if they don't have it, they don't have it. I pressed them on contacting business owner and/or their manager as it wasn't fair that we waited to make sure to get our hands on the limited supply of The Monsters x One Piece. It wasn't just myself, there was a handful of other people that wanted and waited for these before shop opened. 40 minutes after opening they finally got a hold of someone and they agreed to hold the quantity we wanted and gave us a call back when their shipment arrived. Shipment arrived over an hour after opening. I stayed around as it wouldn't make sense for me to travel back to where I came from and come back (traffic, distance, time). Luckily, it didn't take too long. read more

I was scouring Little Tokyo for smiskis and while I didn't have much luck anywhere, I was able to find some of the smiski toothbrush holders here. I was a little wary about the authenticity of these, because they were just in clear little bags. But I also kind of liked it because I could choose which one I wanted, and they seem real enough to me! Other than that, the store is really cute and holds a lot of interesting items, from sets that allow you to build model cars and gundams, to the cutest plushies! read more

Oh we loved this shop! I went with my teen the day after curfew was lifted in the area. Some buildings still had their plywood up so it was a little hard to figure out what shops were what, however when we walked in here we were not disappointed. My teen was surrounded by all things Hatsune Miku and they couldn't have been happier. The pricing was about right and consistent with most of the other shops in the area. The selection was very nice and the people were friendly. Really not anything to complain about! I'm fortunately I can't remember what my teenager bought at the shop because they bought so much during our trip to the area. I always stop by Maneki Neko whenever I'm in the area. Mainly for the blind boxes you can't find down south. They've got a huge variety of stuff, from Smiskis and Sonny Angels to Labubus, and a bunch of other stuff my wife likes to collect. Some items are overpriced that are part of the hype. The workers are really nice, super friendly, and the shop is usually pretty packed whenever I go. Definitely a fun stop if you're into collecting or just wanna treat yourself. read more

Quality/Quantity - Found the hard to find paper hand soap. And just in time as we just used the last of it on this last trip. And we are about to start another major trip. I highly suggest you take your business elsewhere. This place overcharges everything that can be found online for a fraction of the price. My spouse recently went in to buy a Labubu, picked a Big into Energy Blindbox, which retails at $27.99. The price was not on the box, which is strange to begin with. Thinking they could see the price at the cashier, they handed the blind box, only for the cashier not even mention the price at all, and only ask, "is that it? are you buying this? there are other customers waiting...". They did not hand a receipt or anything and waved my spouse out of the store. A day later, my spouse checks their bank account, and to their surprise, they see a charge for $87.79. Don't shop here, it's not worth it, they'll take advantage of you. read more

I always love visiting Little Tokyo during a trip to LA. This cute little store was actually a hidden gem for me! While I had visited once in 2023, visiting again in 2025 was a different experience! If you love blind boxes, this place is definitely the spot! They carry various blind boxes-- most popular being POP MART Labubus, Sonny Angels, and various Sanrio character blind boxes! If you also like anything Sanrio themed, Funko Pops, plushies, and snacks... they have it! Purchased (2) Labubus from the Exciting Macaron set for $40 each. They carried some special edition Sonny Angels as well for ~$45. Unsure if their stock is constantly changing, but I got lucky. Would visit again! read more

Maneki Neko sells blind boxes/bags, stationery, plushies, toys, figures, snacks, and cosmetics. Almost everything in the store is cute themed. For character themed merchandise, I saw Sanrio, Miku, Pokémon, and Disney items. They also have merchandise from the more popular anime series like Demon Slayer, Initial D, and One Piece. Please note that the store is very cramped inside, and the walkways are too narrow for two people to walk comfortably. The line can also get quite long as there are only two cashier stations. This is a cute store to check out in Little Tokyo. Pay them a visit if you like kawaii Japanese items. read more

I'm not sure who was working on 04/07/2025 around 5:30pm and on, but they had terrible customer service skills. The good: I've been here 3-4 times and enjoy perusing the gifts, toys, posters, pens, and plushies. Everything is super kawaii (cute) in here. It's a fun Japanese gift shop with many Chinese items as well. They also have beauty products. I got a super cute Hello Kitty camera keychain here for my toddler that had a little view master inside and projector. It was to distract her on the long ride home. The bad: Everything is super expensive! I wanted to get a little ball toy but most of the toys were over $10. The line to pay was long and the lady working the register wasn't moving rapidly. The aisles are very crowded and cramped and may only fit one person at a time. Strollers would be difficult in here. The interesting: Neko means cat in Japanese. They did indeed sell those waving arm neko/cats here. They played Chinese music in here despite this being in Japan town. read more

I visited several stores in Little Tokyo yesterday but this one hands down is my favorite! I'm so glad I came in here. I'm 34 but I felt like a kid in a candy shop. So many cute and unique Hello Kitty/Sanrio items. They've got plush keychains, tons of stickers and stationary, pencil cases and pens, purses, plushies, blind boxes, snacks, cosmetics! I spent a good 20-30 minutes browsing and wish I could have taken everything home with me. It's truly such a cute and bright and bubbly store. I feel like they have something for everyone in here. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. I will 100 percent be back and will be recommending them to everyone. read more

Tons of good finds. Lots of souvenirs & gift ideas. Good prices & good floor space. Right around the corner from several good restaurants.

A little bit confused with the identity of this shop due to mixture of Chinese, Japanese and Korean products while the store is located in the Little Tokyo and named in Japanese but still a cool place to shop knick-knacks. Some products has great quality, others are cheap and the prices are all over the place but if you compare with other stores, you'll definitely find what you want/need. Not only they have traditional items such as tea cups, Buddha statues, dragon figures, elephant figures, etc. but also modern items such as sodas, Funko Pops, cosmetics, keychains, bags, etc. with your favorite characters on. I would give a better rating, however this store sold me old keychains that were smelly. The Keychain was wrapped in a plastic so I would have not been able to open it in the store and it was smelly and sticky when I opened it. I did not now what it was but it smelled like chemicals and it was not washable. I also got some other stuff but majority was these four keychains that wasted me $12.
