I totally felt missed out knowing that I just figured out about The Chunky Things existence after it has been here for more than a year. It's such hidden gem in Chinatown and I was so impressed by the creative minds behind the store, who're none than the couple owning it. Taking care of the store on his own, he's also great representative of perfect hospitality, being super helpful assisting this indecisive first-time customer. Providing tons of different apparel styles from T-shirt, Crop tees, hoodies, and jumpers; they also offered different sizes including for kids starting from 2 YO! The design selections was certainly amusing as they literally have massive collections, all of which were just extremely cute and innovative. He even said that they usually rolled out new ones on a monthly basis, and sometimes they occasionally brought back something from the past just like what they recently did for their anniversary celebration. I did find some of them also tried to bring out the currently in-hype topics. I found it not only perfect for self-wear, but also for gifts. I really loved the idea that you could pick your choice of clothing, your size and color, then the design you fancied for them to print it fresh on the spot; and what's more mind-blowing was you only needed to wait for 5min-ish to get everything done for you to bring back home. For the clothing material and the creative design, the price tag was pretty reasonable. Even if you're not into clothing, worry not as they did have caps, wall decorations, stickers, tote bags, mugs, postcards, and even cup holders! I know you'd now tag it as your next place to visit ;) YOU'RE WELCOME!

super cute shop nestled inside the red lantern area of chinatown! the ppl who run the store are attentive and kind. they have adorable chunky ohtani and dodgers themed stickers, sweatshirts, t-shirts and stadium bags. the stickers are high quality and great for water bottles. i also love their chunky sailor moon line. their red envelope collection is soooo LA. my sister has gotten me some over the years and i was amazed at the collection they have, very clever and creative designs.

Such a cute shop. I wanted everything but we ended up buying a few stickers. We also got a freebie as well. The service was friendly and I could tell they put a lot of love into the shop. It was worth it and I can't wait to go back!

Be prepared to spend some money here! Chunky is an awesome API owned shop filled with tons of unique gifts consisting of home decor, jewelry, art prints, and more! This shop is located nearby the Hop Louie restaurant. Once you walk in, you'll be greeted by a burst of color from all the amazing products they have curated. The staff here are very friendly and welcoming. My favorite things to buy here are their art prints because I love to support local API artists. I always leave here with a huge dent in my bank account, but a huge smile on my face knowing the finds I found!

I really like this gift shop and have been here twice already in the span of two different LA trips. And each time I have visited, the people who work there are really friendly and are always happy to chat. The shop is small but they sell a lot of cute items and sometimes art prints too. I bought a tote bag from here from my first visit and I still wear it around a year later! Probably the only place I will consistently drop by if I am in the area

Every tea I have tried at Chunky has been incredible! This place is a tea lovers dream come true!

Ok- if you are wanting to try some amazing, out of this world, organic loose leaf tea definitely head into Chunky Gifts! I have been consuming green tea regularly for over 15 years and I can say without a doubt that every tea I have purchased here has been incredible! I recently ran out of the organic strawberry green tea that I had purchased at Chunky Gifts (which is AMAZING) and I needed to get another bag. So I popped back into Chucky yesterday to grab more strawberry tea. I was immediately greeted by the very friendly gal who always remembers me and is always happy to see me. I know it sounds silly but it is nice to be genuinely welcomed in a store. While grabbing another bag of the strawberry green tea I noticed they had bags of a blueberry green tea that I had not tried before. I figured since their strawberry green tea and their peach rooibos tea are so fantastic why not try the blueberry green tea too. I am so glad I grabbed this tea! It is (yet another), fantastic tea that Chunky Gifts carries! It's crazy how good this store's tea selection is! And they are ALL ORGANIC! So if you like great tea you must swing into Chunky Gifts. They are absolute tea masters!

I wanted to buy everything but we were just starting out on a long walk so I just bought cute stickers. I would love to come back and purchase some pottery or art prints by featured Asian American artists. Great store for truly unique gifts! I especially loved their cute logo and "Not your model minority!" prints.

If you like hunting for cheap treasures this is the place to go with random things like magnet toys, hell money, fake gag poops, incense, and plastic swords. Located in Central Plaza, its the area of Chinatown that used to be for tourists. Central Plaza was a romanticized take on China with colorful "chinese" buildings and string-lights and lanterns for night. It's survived so long a shame so much has fallen into disarray, I especially miss the wishing fountain. Luckily Import Bazaar is still running strong. The store itself is small with tight aisles packed from floor to ceiling with lots of different stuff. They try to cluster like-items together so it helps a bit. I personally love the chaos and the store frozen-in-time. My kid was so bombarded with the crazy variety of items here he had a hard time choosing what he wanted. The sweet lady working that day gave him a little toy car for free. They have a hilarious variety of fake cigarettes and cigars for you bad kids :)

On my recent visit, I picked out several items and was ready to check out when I asked if I could purchase the paper vase and flower that were on display. It seemed like a simple request--especially since I was already buying multiple things and was clearly a paying customer. Instead of trying to help, the staff asked three different managers, and every single one just said "no." No explanation, no attempt to offer an alternative, and no effort to make the sale. It felt less like customer service and more like rigid rule-following for the sake of saying no. What makes it even more frustrating is that everything in the store is already very expensive. When customers are willing to spend that kind of money, you would expect at least a little flexibility or effort to accommodate a reasonable request. Retail should be about helping customers and making sales, not turning away people who are literally trying to buy your products. Walking out after that interaction was frustrating and disappointing. After that experience, I won't be coming back. Blocked.

Tucked in the Central Plaza, which was opened and dedicated the same year Sincere opened, you can find it across from the fountain where people throw their pocket change, aiming for the receptacles labeled "Wealth," "Health," and "Luck." Tourists love Sincere for the shopping, perusing their stock of fans, lanterns, figurines, porcelain, hats, and other knickknacks after they bang on the gongs at the front entrance for "Good Luck" and "Money" and rub the giant Buddha statue's well-worn belly that greeted them as they entered. I dig Sincere for the things hanging above the shelving -- ceremonial dragon and lion heads, giant Peking opera masks, and massive lanterns -- and the nice people who own the place.
