this review is long overdue. i have been to Diamond 9 more than a handful of times and have never…read moreleft disappointed. they really care about their customers, young and old. ive even been fortunate enough to witness them doing charitable work with non-customers as well. every single person i have had the pleasure to interact with there have been pleasant. including the sea of vendors that are there on wednesdays and saturdays. the pokemon selection is not immense that it becomes overwhelming, but definitely more than enough to warrant spending more than half an hour shopping. of course it helps that almost all their cards are priced at or sometimes even below market so obviously you want to buy all of them. to sum it up, Diamond 9 has all the makings of one of the best LCS in the area, and I feel lucky to have them so conveniently located near me. i will be coming to this shop for years to come.

Timeline of Events Friday August 7th, 2026 Sign ups for One Piece Card Game 4th Anniversary Event (OP-17 Release Event) for Diamond 9 Sports: Saturday, OP17 Prerelease (Saturday August 22nd) & One Piece Card Game 4th Anniversary Event (OP-17 Release Event) for Diamond 9 Sports: Sunday, OP17 Prerelease (Sunday August 23rd) made available on the Bandai TCG Plus app. I successfully signed up for both events at $40 each Both events format is One Piece Card Game (English) - Sealed (Sealed format: 6 Packs (each participant should use the same number of packs.) After opening 6 packs, players build a 40-card deck, and a 10 DON!! card deck. Opinion and Review I have been coming to Diamond 9 for a few months for their events. Thought their pricing was fair and the store owners were nice enough. That being said, how they handled this event felt very bait and switch. They advertised this event as $40 where you would get 6 booster packs. In the days leading up to the event the price and format changed (which went to $40 for 3 booster packs to $10 for 1 booster pack). This isn't an allocation issue. As Diamond 9 received their allocations of One Piece cards for this event. They just simply reduced the number of allocation of the booster packs to the players who signed up and kept the difference to sell at market rate. I agree that it is the store owner's right to change the price of a product when it fluctuates with the market but to change the format and the price after people sign up only to get notification of the format and price change the day before the event is simply bait and switch. I will not trust Diamond 9 for any business in the future as their pricing of events can change.

There's been a huge explosion, especially with Gen Z, in rediscovering Asian collectible culture around these figures. It used to be Japan-only, or you'd import them and get overpriced merch on eBay. Bandai has official shops in places like Mitsuwa and Little Tokyo with their own machines, but it's rare to find collector-focused, authentic gacha outside those official stores. Gotcha Planet is really awesome. It's a small location, but packed to the brim with collectibles from popular series like Frieren, Dragon Ball, Chiikawa, Sanrio, JoJo, etc. There's a convenient coin machine to tap your card, get coins, and start pulling. Everything is clean and organized, and although it's usually just one staff member, they've always been nice and helpful. A couple things to know: * No bathroom on site, so plan accordingly. * It's a small space, so it can get cramped if there's a crowd (though I've rarely seen more than one or two other people there at a time). * Pricing is fair considering they're paying rent like everyone else here. * Restocks are fast, so it's worth checking back for the latest stuff. My one real complaint is the selection leans hard into what's popular... cute stuff, current or timeless anime franchises. As someone who collects the weirder side of gacha, like fake miniature food, bugs, dinosaurs, animal figurines etc, I wish they carried more of that. There's a huge market for it, especially in Japan, where you'll find gacha for things like miniature tech, or even a dental office set with tiny chairs and equipment for dioramas. I'd love to see Gacha Planet lean into the weird and niche a bit more, not just the reliable sellers. For now, I go when I need character merch or blind boxes for friends who just want something cute or cool, not the weird stuff I'm after.

But when I doubled back, I saw that I was in the corner of the entrance of the lot. I decided to park on the street to play it safe and then walked over to the store. I was excited to see soo many pops in one place, especially the ones that were rarer and more expensive. Their pop prices start at $10.00 for their common ones and goes up from there based on rarity, if it was exclusive to a convention or so and more. There were also mystery packs and pop protectors for sale as well. The pops were sorted by either movie, show or collection. The expensive ones were mostly placed in a glass case and the walls were just filled with shelves of these different pops. It felt like a museum to me as I looked at the different pops with little price tags placed on them if they were above the $10.00 price point. There were a few that cost below $10.00 or what they actually would be worth due to damages, wear or other things that would affect the price.Upstairs they had most of the common pops for $10.00. Both times I visited, I ended up getting some pops for my boyfriend and I hehe And I liked the fact that they throw in a pop protector when you check in. I think the downside of this company is when you try buying Mystery Boxes online. They were selling some over the weekend and released them online at noon, but I had no luck the first two days and then gave up on the third day. On top of that, the offers we received felt extremely low. I understand that a card shop needs to make a profit when buying cards, but there's a difference between making a reasonable offer and making someone feel like they're being taken advantage of. More than anything, it was the attitude that turned us off. You can disagree on a card's value without talking down to people. We definitely won't be coming back.
