I came in with absolutely no knowledge of magic cards, I knew I wanted to buy them as a gift for my friend as she is getting married the same weekend as her Magic convention. Rich was super helpful in showing me all the options and was just patient with me asking a bunch of questions and wanting to just stare at my options. He also threw in the pre release box for my friend as a gift from the shop as well as the sleeves which is so incredibly nice. So even if you know nothing about cards and just want help in picking out a gift, these are the guys :) got an awesome amount of cards for a great price. Tl;Dr super nice, welcoming and helpful. read more

Hobby Legends Card Shop - Boxes of magic the gathering cards - Hobby Shops Near Me - Brea, California

Really disappointing experience at Hobby Legends. Rich, the owner, was incredibly rude and condescending from the start. The whole interaction felt like he assumed we knew nothing about cards and that he knew everything, which made for a very uncomfortable experience. On top of that, the offers we received felt extremely low. I understand that a card shop needs to make a profit when buying cards, but there's a difference between making a reasonable offer and making someone feel like they're being taken advantage of. More than anything, it was the attitude that turned us off. You can disagree on a card's value without talking down to people. We definitely won't be coming back. read more

Been going there for a couple months now. Way out of my way in Whittier but Rich is super helpful and super knowledgeable. Great with customers (especially the kids) and gives reasonable deals. His Wax collection is extensive and retail reasonable. My only criticism is his realization of my terrible addiction to Wax and giving me no therapy options other than more sealed boxes!!! sheez. Great place. He's busy but he will get to you. Thanks for the hits btw. read more

Both times I've been in here have been amazing. The guest service is top notch for a hobby that is all about community. The trade in value for cards is very fair, especially if you go for in store credit. There is a wide range of product to choose from whether it's sealed boxes, or singles for a binder. They are also down to negotiate prices if you find a card that isn't up to date with the market. What makes it even better was that my trips here were months apart. And the first time I was there, I was accidentally given the wrong amount of credit (which i didnt catch) and they all remembered for the next time I came in to give me that extra credit back. I was able to walk out with 4 banger Pokemon cards because of that and made my day. Will definitely be making the drive out here more often to support them. They are awesome! read more

First time in the area and found Hobby Legends Card Shop. What a great experience, my first encounter was with Rich and I could tell he was a passionate collector. They are located in a nice shopping mall with plenty of parking. A good place to find a little bit of everything from vintage cards to new cards and everything in between I've been searching for a specific Don Drysdale card for a project I'm working on and they had it , at a great price too. Rich was also kind enough to gift me a sleeve of their own penny sleeves which are very nice. I'm not from the area but appreciate a classic hobby card shop where everyone from the community comes to share. If you're just starting to collect or a season pro Rich at Hobby Legends is the guy to see , looking forward to dropping in the next time I'm in Brea and chopping it up with Rich. read more

The service alone is 5 stars. The Staff here is so nice, so chill and just good vibes all around. I have learned so much from our initial visit months ago, and the staff is always great to talk to. I started coming here 6 months ago to get our Pokemon Cards graded and buy singles to complete our collection. There is always something to buy here. Everyone check them out, they are some of the dopest guys. Thank you Hobby Legends! read more

My boyfriend loves coming here. Great Pokémon and sports card selection. Conveniently located in the Whittier area as well.

Great shop with a nice selection of cards. Staff was friendly and helpful, and prices were fair. I'll definitely be back

Love the old cards they got the only thing I hate is they closed one day a week friendly and fast service mostly new cards for the green collectors read more

There's not a lot of Pokémon cards and some of the photos are the same ones just placed or with a different card and there's not a lot of options, but there's quite a few packs and some good cards. read more

Spoke with Rich, super nice guy. Sold some pokekon wax, in and out in 10 mins. Will come back for any card needs. Highly recommend coming here. read more

My sons are obsessed with this card shop! My husband and I love bringing them here because the owner is so sweet and patient. My youngest took well over 30 minutes to go through the $1-$5 card bins, and the owner was nothing but kind and encouraging of our little Pokémon enthusiast. In the car on the way home while he was looking through his pile of cards he said, "That guy was so nice and he has such good cards at his shop!" This has been their favorite card shop, but our latest experience here (with a very slow, indecisive young one with Christmas money to spend) really solidified how much we love this place. read more

Was excited to grab some wax for rip night. Stopped by ok my way home from work. When I arrived and noticed their prices are $10 higher for a basic blaster box. Then I was informed by Rich that I have to wait another hour for the 10% off rip night deals. I've spent thousands in this store and was told I'd need to come back. I told him "that's okay the prices are too high anyways". He responded "you don't have to come back". I replied "no problem" then on the way out the door was told to "kick rocks" by Rich. Pretty disappointed that he would act like this when I've been a loyal customer for years. Guess I'll be buying my wax elsewhere. read more

Incredible experience! 5/5 stars, took the time to review my collection, and support me. Was patient, kind, and supportive! Would recommend anyone new to the hobby! Thank you read more

I am running to you all with this 5-star recommendation. The owner is the NICEST guy and made us newbie collectors feel so welcomed to the Pokemon community. My daughters just started collecting, and it was just the most pleasant no-pressure and fun experience. They have boxes of individual cards starting at just .25 that the girls could scan through to start to build their collection. We only got a few today but we will for sure be back. They also have unopened boxes and packs lining the walls and rarer cards under the glass for the more experienced collector to peruse, but for everyone to admire! Pokemon is such a vast and complicated world and we can't wait to visit again and spread the word about a small shop that made a big impact on our day. read more

Really awesome & chill place to check out cards. Solid selection on sports & pokemon cards. they have tables & free water for you while you browse through their bulk boxes while watching a sports game going on. Cards are reasonably priced & the employee who helped me was super attentive, kind, & enthusiastic. He noticed a lot of customers who came in that day (including me) were first timers so it was fun talking to him. Great rewards system & I'll definitely be coming back with friends :)) read more

I don't usually write reviews, but I just had to share this experience. My son received a baseball card through Little League and wanted to collect more, so we went to Target--but they were all sold out. Someone there recommended this shop, and we're so glad they did. When we stopped by today, the staff welcomed us warmly and took the time to explain all kinds of baseball cards. Even another customer nearby joined in, opened a pack, and gave my son cards. He was absolutely thrilled. It was his first time visiting a card shop, and it turned into such a fun and memorable experience. The atmosphere was incredibly friendly and welcoming--everyone there was just great. If you're looking for cards, I highly recommend this place. They truly made our day special. We will definitely be coming back! read more

I gave a call prior to arriving to the shop to sell my cards and the moment I arrive he told me he can't give me cash because he just gave cash to another person who arrived before me. Like why say you'll buy cars if you got no money. A white gentlemen felt worker or owner or not, felt insulted for not knowing his product selling $300 plus hobby boxes that I had question regarding since he gave me a trade option only and I asked some advice on new sports cards and disregarded me calling me out for insulting out of my ass like what? Take ur business elsewhere because that kind of service is horrible and I felt racially profiled by his attitude. Horrible customer service. Didn't seem to care at all for the shop and ripping off customers for 50% on cards just cause it came out 2 weeks ago. I would rather go to a card show or a vendor who pays a higher percentage for cards than deal with this shits show. read more

2025 Topps Series One. I've been hunting for these cards all week & came across Hobby Legends online & decided to check it out. Hobby Legends has tons of cards & collections to choose from! My favorite card shop! So clean and bright! Great selection of wax and singles, great pricing. The rewards program is awesome but the best thing are the guys who work there. Last year one of my son's went through a bone marrow transplant and the only thing that made him feel better in the hospital was opening cards- I bought many boxes from them over a six month period. They were always so kind, always asked me how Carter was doing and even gave me some cool gifts to pass along to him (Mike Trout bobble head was awesome). The icing on the cake is that we have had the best luck with the packs and boxes we buy from Hobby Legends. Just a few days ago we pulled three 1/1 cards from three different products. Best card shop anywhere and can't recommend them highly enough!!! read more

Going into this store isn't the typical retail experience. The fellow behind the counter greeted me when I came in and when I asked him for guidance he proved to be a fountain of knowledge. Easily the best experience I've had in a card shop, hands down. Rich took the time out of his day, without hesitation, to help me identify the condition of a handful of vintage cards. Amidst all of the current Pokémon chaos, you can definitely rely on this shop to have enough stock to fuel your hobby. My buddy and I came in to this shop for the first time ever today and were immediately greeted by Rich and Josh. They introduced themselves to us and made sure that our needs were tended to. I cannot emphasize enough how spectacular their customer service is. The shop was stocked with plenty of products ranging from singles, packs, to even slabs. As far as I could tell, almost all of their products line up with market pricing. The prices are as fair as you could get with those things. After selecting a couple of products, Rich eagerly led us to the cashier to pay for our products. Before my buddy and I left the door, Rich gave each of us a pack of penny sleeves on the house as a "welcoming gift". All in all, I cannot stress how great my experience was at Hobby Legends today. Their inventory, customer service, and pricing were all top notch! I'm definitely coming back to the shop in the near future. Big thanks to both Rich for his hospitality today, as well. He's the real legend of the shop lol. read more

This is our go to shop for cards. Rich and his staff are extremely helpful and friendly. My son loves going to the shop. Very welcoming. Even knows him by name. Owner was so hostile for no reason. My friend and I didn't get there in time for the tournament so I didn't mind just looking around and buying singles, but when I went to buy my singles he gave me such an insane amount of attitude for no reason. He asked me if I wanted to create an account for their rewards, I had no interest in doing that so quickly declined. Then he began to give me even more attitude and told me that I would have had my purchase for free if I signed up. It was a cheap purchase so it wasn't the end of the world for me but he was just so hostile for no reason it left a bad taste in my mouth. The saving grace for this review was another worker there who was kind enough to let us have a promo card and talk to us, even if we weren't going to buy anything or participate in the tournament he treated us with so much kindness it really made up for the sour owner. read more
