Woooww! What a great experience! I was feeling bleh about my hair and hadn't done anything about it for a while so I decided to do some research and came across this place, and so happy I did! I booked a last minute hair cut and blow out with Vanessa, one of the stylists here and she is incredible. She is so friendly, understanding and honest! She cut my hair while dry because I wanted to layer it and I had never had that done before, but I understand why it's so important now! She showed me some tricks for more volume when I do my own blow dry and I was really thankful for that! I have an appointment coming up for color and I'm super excited! I have naturally curly, very fine hair which can be very difficult to style and requires a gentle touch especially when it comes to color. When I first came to Mane Fixation my hair was dry, and my curls were frizzy and lacked luster. Not to mention my color was a super dull dark ashy blonde. Cinthia has transformed my hair into long, blonde supple locks. I love my color and my curls have honestly never looked better! I'm so grateful for Cinthias hair mastery! I went in today to get my balayage, roots, and hair cut before my 30th birthday. I made a reservation just this week, so I wasn't able to get Veronica who cut my hair to perfection last time. Luckily, Lola was available for the lengthy process I needed done on my hair. She was really nice, so I'm not happy about writing this review, but perhaps it can help someone else. I thoroughly explained the state of my hair the day before--it's complications, areas with box dye, areas I definitely needed covered up, my current highlights, and sent two inspiration photos for the color. I wanted to go for a summer vibes balayage and just lighten it a notch to a lighter brown, since I know my hair doesn't like to lighten too much anyway. I spent 5.5 hours at the salon. Lola was thorough and patient. My color turned out nothing like what I wanted, and instead of lifting the current highlights I already had, I ended up coming out with much darker hair. Of course, after spending $400 (post-tip) for winter hair instead of summer hair, I was trying to hold my tears back. It's not ugly at all, it's just VERY dark and absolutely nothing close to what I wanted, as I've literally had dark hair all of my life and it makes me look gothic with my light skin. I think in my case I should have just saved my money, because not even a professional can lift my hair. Lola was trying to be understanding about my being upset, and tried explaining why my hair wouldn't lift. Perhaps it's just science. It's hard to say if I'll go back. I'm completely discouraged from going to salons at all at this point. Perhaps I'll just let my hair go natural after this. I'm attaching my before, inspo, and after photos. Again, nothing against her technique, she did what she could. Her haircut was good as well. COVID regulations: they're good about it and stay clean. They take your temp at the door. read more

Maddie is the girl you wanna trust with your precious hair. I don't let just anybody touch my hair. I have very long hair and prefer to keep it that way so I'm the type to rather go years without a salon appointment, but I let Maddie work her magic and her vision on me and I'm in love with it. So far, so good. It had been over a year since I got my last haircut due to the pandemic. My ends were so dry and scraggly. And boy, did it feel good to get something as simple as hair trim! It's definitely not something I will take for granted. I sent the salon a message on a Wednesday and was able to get an appointment for that Friday with Lola. She was great--very nice and friendly. She was able to offer solid advice when I asked for her opinion on whether or not to get layers. She also provided helpful tips on reducing heat damage to my hair when styling. For a cut, wash, and blowout, I paid $75 plus tip. I was pretty happy with it and my hair just felt so much healthier after taking off some inches. The salon was easy to find. It's in a shopping strip right on Ventura Blvd and faces the street. It's paid 2hr street parking only so make sure you watch your time and add money if you have to. There doesn't seem to be any sort of receptionist at the front and I don't know who manages the phone--I had called earlier to confirm my appointment, but no one answered. Luckily, there was no problem when I arrived for my appointment. Despite that, my overall experience was positive. I'll likely come back since I'm seriously considering getting a bayalage for the summer! read more

Had a cut and balayage done by Lizette just before the holidays. I absolutely love the way my hair turned out and will be back soon to have my hair touched up. Lizette was really nice and extremely knowledgeable, I have very thin hair and she gave me a great cut that makes hair look fuller than it is. I went in a few weeks before a trip to Europe so she made hair a bit darker so that by the time I was on my trip it would fade to the color I wanted. I loved the way it looked in the salon and especially loved the way it began to fade while I was traveling. I would def recommend you ask for Lizette! This salon is everything that makes for a great experience. The space is inviting, clean, and open, and bursts with an inclusive, welcoming, good-vibes-only energy. The staff is wonderfully approachable and kind, and Mike is incredibly skilled and knowledgeable. He knows what I want before I do but truly listens and thoroughly explains everything to make sure we're both on the same page before the first snip or mix. I've been here 3-4 times now and EVERY SINGLE TIME, I come home with a huge smile and burst of self-esteem that only a great hairstyle and uplifting experience can provide. PRO: Super easy to get an appointment with the owner, Cynthia. She offered same day or next. Plenty of meter parking Friendly staff and owner Cute and clean looking salon Skilled styling CON: Didn't get a shapely haircut, just took length off in 10 minutes Very little communication about what she was doing or what I wanted Didn't wash my hair... I repeat, she did NOT wash my hair!!! Full story: I moved out of state for 3 years and didn't dare get a haircut. When I got back to LA my usual stylist was booked 4 months out. I decided I really wanted a haircut so I went here. Huge mistake. Cynthia had me come in for a consult where she sold me products she wanted me to use before our appointment next day. When I showed up for my cut she had her assistant blowout my already dry hair (fyi this is very damaging). She then asked how much I was okay with cutting. We settled on a length and she stuck to it, great. However, there is no shape or texture to enhance my hair type. The cut looks like I put in a scrunchy and had my husband chop off the extra. I didn't notice how awful the haircut was when I was in the chair because she quickly started styling it. I was so confused by the order of events but I went ahead and trusted her. The curling and styling she did with products made my hair look amazing but the cut is ridiculous. Anyway, I put two hours in the meter because my hair appointments are usually around 90 minutes. I was in and out of here in under 30 minutes per the meter. I was excited to have a more reasonable length and the styling was great while it lasted but as the curling iron curls came undone I realized I spend over $200 (150 cut+ 35tip + $80 in over priced products) for a cut I could have done myself. Do not make the mistake I made, get a haircut at a better place. I think the reviews for this place are more for color. read more

Absolutely love this salon! I go to Kim who is an absolute hair coloring god!! The expertise and full attention to detail I cannot put into words. I have never came across such a truly talented and dedicated hair specialist. Kim never disappoints and I always leave with stunning hair. I don't trust just anyone with my hair and I know every time I come see her I will leave with breathtaking hair. Anything I ask, Kim is able to execute! Came to this salon for the first time last week to see Kim, who I have been coming to for years. The salon is super cute with lots of plants and crystals for a chill vibe, and everyone was super nice! Kim SLAYED my hair per usual: she took my yucky dark brown growth, embedded with months old bleach and purple dye (lol ew) and painted in a bunch of cool blond tones and brought me up to a level 7 blonde! Images attached. Man, I love it! She always does such a good job, and can do all the fun colors like purple and blue too. Scheduled an appointment and came in with lifeless, dead hair that hadn't been cut in about a year. William Edward, the stylist who I booked with, transformed my hair from dull and frayed to healthy and full of volume. William was very friendly and easy to talk to. He offered me something to drink as soon as I sat down. After a brief discussion about what I was looking for, William got to washing, cutting, and styling my hair. Throughout the appointment he consistently checked in with me to see if I was happy with the length/look which I really appreciated. 1 million out of 5 stars for William! He has always taken care of me, is so kind and always has me leaving feeling great. I came to him with pandemic hair, long, shapeless, dead ends for days- with the crazy goal of going from my natural black hair to a silver. He walked me through the whole process, what should be done, how long it's going to take, and how to take care in between sessions. I've also had major scalp issues in the past and with his advice I've totally thrived with bleaching and toning, I can take care of my hair and not feel like I've ruined it forever. Here is why I will never go back to this salon and recommend you don't as well. I was looking for a new hair salon and this spot was highly rated on Yelp. I scheduled an appointment with the owner figuring she'd provide the best cut and being that I was a new client provide the best service. I was not prepared to be the head she was training the young lady who answers the phone . If I wanted to be serviced by an inexperienced student I would've gone to a beauty school and paid 20 bucks and saved the $240 I understand everybody needs to start somewhere but you should at least ask your new client if they're OK with using ones head for training purposes . The cut has now settled in and it looks like she gave me 2 different cuts. One side is a page boy the other is layered. I'm going to have to go to another salon to recut my hair now. Now let's get to the real dirt, after cutting and coloring my hair the owner quickly scuttled me out of her chair with a hairline resembling Rudy Giuliani and I say this because somebody told me right after I left, my hairline looked like Rudy Giuliani! I'm blind and I could see from 3 feet away that there was dye on my ears, my forehead and along my hairline. She apparently felt that it was OK to let a new client walk out looking like this, it would've taken approximately two minutes to clean my hairline and gain a new client. Honestly I was speechless at the counter . My husband said I needed to go in and complain but I didn't want to start crying in front of a bunch of strangers. The icing on the cake is now the day after I have scabs developing along my hairline. For this price I expect some level of service, expertise and attention. read more

I first visited this salon a couple years ago, and Veronica did my cut and color beautifully. I've been back several times now and I'm always so happy with the result! It's so nice to have someone really skilled taking care of my hair, and I don't have to search for a salon through trial and error anymore. The salon is pretty, very positive feeling, and not pretentious which I appreciate. I also love their online scheduling and how easily I can book an appointment from my phone. read more

Got exactly the hair I wanted! My hairstylist was Michael and he was super friendly and communicative when it came to scheduling and figuring out what I wanted. The salon was very clean (and quiet seeing as it was a Sunday). My hair usually feels brittle after an appt no matter what color I make it but after my appt and even now a few days later it feels softer and shinier. read more

Conditioning treatments start at $25. We have a few different masks that are amazing at treating dry, over processed, or damaged hair!

It was super shady and vague and I felt extremely uncomfortable. I could not leave because my head was wrapped in foil and bleach when she chose to announce this change. The color also did not come out the way we had discussed and she pretty much rushed me out of the chair while we were still within our appointment window and kept making passive aggressive jabs about how she had other clients coming in and how she should charge me even more. It's clear that she was disorganized and had not planned her schedule well and was taking that urgency out on her clients. I found the experience to be unprofessional and baffling and will not be returning.

I paid $620 total (including a 15% tip, $540 before tip) for a balayage and haircut, which felt extremely high--especially considering the haircut alone was only $80. During the appointment, the experience itself was uncomfortable. Chemicals were dripping onto my face, leaving stains on my forehead, and when my hair was washed, the water was cold and splashed everywhere. A few days later, after washing and styling my hair the way I normally do, I noticed how off the balayage looked. My roots already appeared very grown out--almost halfway down my head. I understand balayage is meant to grow out naturally, but this looked like it had been done months ago when it had only been a week. Even my family commented that it looked grown out. I called the salon to see if they could fix the top portion, and I was told my stylist, Angel, would call me back--but I never heard from her. Overall, I'm really disappointed. Not only was the service expensive, but the results didn't meet expectations, and there was no follow-up or effort to make it right.

She told them they had to leave because her stylists had to feed their families and it was causing a disruption. What does that even mean? I can't imagine a person with an appointment walking by, seeing an upset 2yo, and then thinking "oh well, I better cancel my appointment because there is a kid crying outside." Parents deserve compassion and help, not shame when a kid is having a tough time. As they were trying to leave, she even went so far as to call security. It was insane. I hope anyone who is looking for a new salon chooses a place that supports and lifts up families, not who makes them feel unwelcome and like they're an inconvenience.

While they were outside, I witnessed a woman, who I was later told is the salon manager, Marisa confront these parents in an incredibly inappropriate manner. She made them feel humiliated, and treated them as if they were doing something wrong simply for comforting their upset child. She even went as far as calling security, claiming they were being disruptive because their child was crying. As a bystander, I was honestly disgusted. Watching someone speak to parents this way, especially when they were calmly trying to support their child, was deeply upsetting. Children have difficult moments, they don't always know how to regulate their emotions, and that's exactly when they need patience and compassion, not hostility. I cannot understand how anyone, especially someone in a position of responsibility, could behave in such a cold and unacceptable way toward a family in that situation. To the salon manager, just do better.
