If you're tired of fast food but want quick service, try this local family owned and operated sandwich shop. Great food! friendly and quick service. usually quiet. very clean.

When we heard Jack Johnson as we walked in the door, we knew we weren't in a regular sub shop. Our Under Saddle sandwiches with pickles and chips were fresh and not too heavy for lunch. Glad we followed their signs coming into Charlottesville.

The bread is very good and the service was very friendly. Sweet tea was excellent! The sandwiches are completely average, nothing special at all here. The prices led me to believe it would be special or somehow unique but it was underwhelming. The decor is sparse and horse themed.

Very very pricey! Very little meat/veggies/ sauce. Kind customer service and clean bathrooms. I cannot justify the cost to return often

The most important thing was the amazing flavor and the fact that the brisket and turkey were full of flavor and not overcooked, which seems to be the way most smokehouses in Virginia thinks you should make brisket. Anyone can make decent pulled pork and ribs, not everyone can make delicious juicy brisket.

This is a clean, no-nonsense, down to earth BBQ place and it's delicious! I've been several times since they've opened & haven't been disappointed. I've come in during dinner & almost closing, and the food has been consistently good. The pictured dishes are the platters with 2 meats & 2 sides. I couldn't finish my platter & had the rest for lunch (still delicious cold) a couple days after. The standout for me (besides the meats) were the onion rings! These are NOT the pre-frozen ones. These are fresh-cut, seasoned, & breaded, and they are ADDICTIVE! They make other ones look sad. The baked beans are cooked with brisket pieces. The sandwiches are generous, too. The meats are smoked, tender & delicious. The sauces are also handmade, not bottled. So, you're going to have sample for your preferred flavor & heat. Not a problem because they have little sauce cups that you can use. I will definitely be patronizing this locally owned & run establishment.

We were greeted by Tony, the owner, as soon as we walked in and were seated immediately, which made us feel welcome right away. Our waitress wasn't especially bubbly, but she took good care of us. It may have just been her morning personality, and the service itself was perfectly fine. We stopped in for breakfast. I ordered the pecan pancakes with a side of sausage, and the pancakes were delicious. There were three large pancakes on the plate, so it was a great value. My husband had the French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, and home fries. The breakfast was classic diner fare, but the home fries were exceptional. One of the highlights was getting to chat with Tony when we paid. He shared a little about how he came to own the restaurant and some of his background, which added a personal touch. We also ended up talking with the regulars at the table next to us, and it was easy to see this diner has built a friendly community of loyal customers. The menu is extensive, with just about every breakfast option you could want, plus a wide selection of Greek dishes for lunch. Overall, it's a welcoming neighborhood diner with generous portions, good food, and an owner who clearly cares about his customers.

I didn't give 5 stars because I found a gnat in my pancakes and the syrup seemed pretty cheap and flavorless. The restaurant was pretty nice for a diner, calm and not noisy.

I love this location due to the large outdoor space. There is about twice as much space outside as opposed to inside. We travel with our dog quite a bit so this outside area is perfect. We have sat there with other dogs in the area and didn't have any issues. This time I purchased a Java Chip Light with Whipped Cream. Yes, I'm aware that isn't the most masculine drink, but hey... I love it! Hot day, cold day...I don't care. I think it makes me feel better than ordering a milk shake. Bonus:. They offer a pup cup for free as well. A small cup with whipped cream for the dog. As you can tell, her loved it!

Thankfully this Starbucks has none of those features. The baristas are well prepared and efficient with order processing, and the environment is much more like a coffee shop rather than a fast food joint. Extra props for the priority they give to cleanliness. The only thing concerning is trying to leave the parking lot. With traffic coming from Harris teeter on your right and coming off of 29 on your left, you may be waiting a while to leave. I've taken to just parking at teeter and walking.

The first time I came across them was during the Saturday morning Downtown Charlottesville City Market (pre-covid). I've also encountered them at Charlottesville Festival of Cultures (pre-covid) and most recently at the Autumn Nights Thursday Night Market (which ended in October *SAD*).  We ordered the pulled pork sandwich, lomo saltado and tried a few empanadas (the chicken empanada & the beef, egg & olive empanada. Amidst everything eaten, the pulled pork sandwich truly stole the show! The sandwich included a heap of Wandering River Farm pork shoulder with pickled red onions and jalapenos on a light, fluffy bun. The meat wasn't thinly pulled like I'be seen in many American based pulled pork sandwiches, but more broken into small, juicy tenderized bite size morsels, lathered in an amazing creamy spicy sauce and then piled on top of the buns - overflowing onto the platter with a side of fried sweet potatoes. The fried sweet potatoes were also pretty good - they kept their shape and were actually fried in thin circular slices. Unfortunately, by the time we demolished the pulled pork sandwiches, they had lost some of their fresh crunch and thus were a bit softer than expected, but nonetheless the fried sweet potatoes were a good side dish to the sandwich! The lomo saltado was stir fried beef tenderloin with onions and tomatoes, served with a side of papas fritas (hand cut potato fries) and white rice. This dish was prepared on the spot - cooked over an open stove and thus the flavors were super fresh and worth the wait~ The empanadas had thicker, doughier shells (which I really appreciated) and were filled to the brim with meat. Not super spicy but the sauces that came with them really gave the flavor an extra
