I ordered from here today for the first time through Amazon prime/Grubhub plus. I wanted to try their cod and their chicken gizzards. It's been very hard to find chicken gizzards anywhere other than Lolo's but to find out that this place is just a couple miles from me. I had to try them. The chicken gizzards were excellent the meat soft where they should be soft and chewy where thry should be chewy. even though they were delivered by Grubhub they were steaming hot. I ordered the four piece cod which came with crinkle fries. The fries were properly salted and crispy. The fish was tasty, but not nearly as hot as the chicken gizzards and two pieces were a little dry on the inside. This lets me know that they were likely fried before I placed my order. The fish had a completely different batter than the chicken gizzards, but each batter was appropriate in flavor. Since this was my first Grubhub order Ever and I've never used DoorDash either I was surprised at how fast everything got here. I think next time I will actually go into the restaurant to place my order because I know they also have thrifty ice cream and I was afraid it would melt if the delivery took too long. We ordered to go off Uber Eats and had a pretty good experience. The catfish nuggets and fries were buy one get one so we decided to try it. The larger pieces were a good texture with a crispy outside however the smaller pieces were a bit chewy. Unfortunately their soda machine was on the Fritz so our sodas were a bit flat but it was a decent experience for the price of the food. The area is a little sketch late at night so keep that in mind but we did have great service. read more

I've been eating at Mandy's since I was a kid -- back when the original spot was on 16th Street and Roser, and later on 16th Street and Southern. I'm 49 now, so trust me when I say I know exactly how Mandy's fish is supposed to taste. What I got today from the 27th Ave & Indian School location was an absolute disappointment. I ordered a 12‑piece and it tasted like straight-up trash. No seasoning, no flavor, the fish was dry, and there wasn't even any cornmeal on it. This isn't a small mistake -- this is a complete failure to deliver the food Mandy's built its name on. To make it worse, they don't answer the phone, so there's no way to even address the issue. I spent over $34 on this meal, and for that price, I expect quality -- not this. I want my money back, because what I received was nowhere near acceptable. After decades of loyalty, this is the worst experience I've ever had. I feel completely let down and honestly violated by how bad this meal was. Mandy's used to stand for quality. I recently moved nearby and was hungry on a Sunday. So I decided to give them a try. I know they specialize in fish, but I wanted a burger and fries. I ordered a double cheeseburger California style and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. The fries were standard crinkle, and golden brown. The burger was assembled nicely, not smashed together, and the lettuce tomato, pickle, and and onion were fresh and crunchy. All in all I can recommend this place highly. Don't get McDonald's junk food, when you can get a much better burger and fries for the same $13. Mandy's has been around for quite some time in various areas of the valley. I first went to what I believe was their first location in south Phoenix over 30 years ago. On my favorite yelp app I saw they had a location over here by me. I went in tonight as I was craving fried catfish. The Mandy's special is what I ordered with the catfish as my fish choice, plus fried oysters, coleslaw, and sweet potato pie. While not fancy they are a full package great customer service, fried fish, shrimp, and oysters. Coleslaw packaging was smart sauce separate so it's crunchy and fresh. The pie was very good. I asked the cashier how long they had been there and she advised two months. In a world where service is crap, theirs was great. The food is good. I'm not a massive fried food person but every blue moon the craving and they met the need. The cashier, friendly, attentive, and a smile plus came around the counter with my food. The lady who was cashiering up front yesterday was very sweet and friendly. She was chatting it up with me as she took my order and also as she was cleaning tables. I got my order to go, but wouldn't mind eating here sometime. In AZ, I always worry about the inside temps of an establishment because if it is too hot inside, I might as well just take my food to eat at home. This place was nice, though. The cashier let me take a few pictures. The food was good. I had ordered the 6 pc oysters, but when I got home, I noticed they put in a couple extra. I'm not sure if that was by accident or on purpose, but it was a bonus for me. They were big 'uns, too (see pic). I enjoyed the taste of the chicken livers more, but now I know I'll just have to get two orders next time I go. They have a few more items on the menu I'd like to try, so I will be back. read more

I gave Mandy's a 5 star for a couple of different reasons. The food had a great flavor, there were great portions in the Combo meals and the price was very reasonable. Additionally, it is a local family owned business which we like to support and the dining area was nice and clean. I got the Cod/Shrimp combo and my friend got the Catfish/Shrimp combo and they were both delicious. We will recommend Mandy's to others and definitely return. read more

I saw the reviews and I don't understand what the hype is about. Maybe the food varies by location. First of all, it was a long wait and the person at the counter wasn't friendly at all. Second of all, I don't mind waiting if the food is good. I ordered the Mandy's special which is fish, shrimp and fries. Everything was bland. It wasn't worth the price. I am so disappointed especially after seeing Lousiana Fried Chicken was right down the street. My sister took me there a few weeks ago and I have been craving more fish every since. I visited Here for the first time. Not knowing what to expect. The parking lot has very limited spaced in front, so you'll need to park nearby. The interior of the restaurant was clean and playing very loudly a radio station. Ordering was a breeze and did not take too long for a dine-in experience. I ordered a 3-peice Fish and chips Combo. My sides was French Fries and a medium soda. (Warning!) -My order looked very well made and was appealing to my eyes. The one huge problem was the fish had no seasoning. This made the meal suck. Some of you Yelpers are either ultra hungry or haven't eaten all day and can't really remember if the bland-well-prepared-food had any noticeable taste. Twice! It has happened to me, where they messed up my order. I believe this to be on purpose, because I am ordering the food to go, & by time I got home, they have to know that you're not going to drive all the way back there! If you don't have what the customer wanted his food prepared a certain way, just tell the customer, instead of, doing it to what you have left. For instance, twice I have order the 6 pieces of Sea Brass, with the English batter, & it was fried in cornmeal. I also order 12 pieces of wings in Buffalo " hot " favor on that same order. I ordered through Door Dash so I have not been to the restaurant. The delivery was on time, hot and the fish were still crispy. Not sure about the ambiance of the restaurant. It's not in the best part of town for sure, however I will venture that it would be worth it to stop by. I ordered their number one and it consisted of three pieces of fish, two shrimp, french fries, three different dipping sauces and some packets of ketchup. I even got napkins! I like that you can pick different types of fish. I ordered bass, catfish and whiting. The portions were surprisingly large and everything was crispy and yummy. I enjoyed their sauces, especially the tartar. Honestly, not the best fish and chips I have ever had.
