Do not use Mandos Towing. My car broke down near Bakersfield with my family in it (they had to get back home so they rented a car while I made arrangements from Northern California where we live to have it towed back here.) Mandos agreed to tow my car for hundreds of dollars. They made me wire them some money first. I spoke mostly with Marlene, Mandos' girlfriend. She does all the talking. Mandos is Mexican and speaks very little English. I did as Marlene asked and wired her the money. She said I had to pay cash, they don't accept credit cards. Probably because cards leave a trace for the IRS to follow. She said a lot of their customers don't pay them; I now see why. After they picked up my car, they took it to their house, parked it on the street and then left it there; they then called me and said they weren't going to tow my car any further. I was shocked! Marlene claimed that because we our agreement was not written, and that they were "doing me a favor," they could renege and just walk away (wrong, oral contracts are legally binding.) Aside from breaching our agreement, Mandos Towing doesn't care about abandoning its customers who put their faith and trust in them. I have never seen such a dishonest company in my life. Word to the wise: don't use Mandos, use any other tow company. one that you can depend on. read more
