This is the third branch of the restaurant. The other two locations are located in Polanco and Roma neighborhoods. However, the location of this one is superb. Nice terrace with incredible view to Bosques de las Lomas and interlomas at the same time. They do not have self parking but the building has valet parking for a fee. Thankfully, the restaurant validates the ticket and offers your two hours for a fixed rate.
The venue is divided into two rooms. A covered terrace and a sun deck. The decor was inspired by the almalfi coast and the cinque terre. Therefore, lemons and vines are everywhere! The staff is very friendly, well trained and attentive. The waiters accommodate your requests, however they are not very fast.
They have a full bar, great for breakfasts, brunch's and dinners. Our food was very good. The pastries were fresh and baked in house, which is always a plus! Not a lot of options thus. We ask for a pecan croissant, and "oreja" and a Melo pan or "concha". The fruit bowls offered a huge portion with a lot of variety! They even had lichee and raspberry which is not a typical fruit served on this kind of plate.
Our entrees arrived shortly after. The green and red enchiladas had a very tasty sauce, not very different from the ones found in other places, but the chicken was well seasoned and the cheese perfectly melted. For my taste they were not spicy enough, but consider that I'm Mexican, so...
The omelet was not really and omelet but a mere "egg quesadilla". Nevertheless the zucchini flower inside was excellent and had a very tasty sauce as well. Finally, the best dish was the Shakshuka! A rare finding on a restaurant menu and most of the times not very well executed. But this time, it was great! The eggplant perfectly cooked and not bitter! The poached eggs were spot on and the dill and yogurt on top balanced the whole dish! Definitely a must try.
Overall, mandolina is a very good restaurant with a nice chill vibe and great food offerings. A little pricy, but on par with the area. I will definitely come back to try the rest of the menu! read more
