We went for breakfast, but couldn't resist ordering extras to bring home for later since it's been awhile since we've had Yemeni cuisine. Yemeni Chai Breakfast Platter w/ eggs, foul (beans), variety of cheese & jams, cucumber, olives, tomatoes and fresh bread Lentil Soup Kibbeh Cheese Sambousa Chicken Mandi Lamb Mandi If you've never had mandi, it's fragrant rice with fried onions, almonds and raisins topped with either roast chicken or lamb, and trust me, either one is perfection here. The meat comes out so tender. We tried a little while we were there and brought the rest home - the portions are so big we had dinner AND lunch the next day The breakfast was awesome too - similar to the Turkish and Persian breakfasts I love, with fresh baked bread and a variety of items to enjoy it with while sipping tea Shout out to the team here - they made the best recommendations and brought everything out so fresh and fast for us! We also love how clean and spacious, with beautiful murals and plenty of parking.

The Mendi here is absolutely outstanding. The rice is perfectly cooked and infused with rich, aromatic spices, while the meat is incredibly tender and full of flavor. The chicken was juicy with a beautiful roasted finish, and the lamb was fall-apart soft. What really made this dish special were the toppings--crispy toasted nuts, sweet raisins, fresh onions, and lemon wedges that added a refreshing touch. The balance of flavors between savory, slightly sweet, and tangy was just perfect. The portion is very generous and great for sharing. You can tell this is authentic, high-quality Mendi made with care. Definitely one of the best I've had--highly recommen

New Yemeni restaurant in Irvine! They've only been open for a month. Big big fan of Yemeni food! We decided to drop by after doing some grocery shopping. We weren't hungry yet so we went in only to get drinks. The workers there are REALLY nice. They asked us if we've ever had Yemeni food before and spent the time to explain their menu to us. After telling them we were only interested in getting some drinks, they also took the time to explain each option to us. There is plenty of seating inside. Very spacious and clean. Not too loud and perfect for a group or eating by yourself. We ordered their Adeni Chai and their Yemeni Coffee. I was specifically wondering if they had Karak tea and discovered it was their chai. And it was! Very delicious, creamy, and unique. I can drink like 3 of these a day if I could. The Yemeni coffee definitely packs a punch when it comes to energizing you and giving you that caffeine kick. There is a considerable cinnamon taste to it as a heads up if you're into that spice for coffee. I look forward to coming back to trying their food!!

Great food, fantastic flavors Chicken Mandi, juicy chicken on a bed of rice flavored with raisins and nuts Lamb stew, sizzling and full of aroma Fish mova, tender fish, lathered in a smoky mildly spicy chile paste The bread is top notch Love the service (Written by the husband)

got takeout of their bread, salad, lamb, chicken, and beef. the taste was alright, best thing was the lamb for sure. chicken was really dry and you need to have it with the sauce for it to go down. rice underneath was not bad, i liked that they put nuts in it but i wish there was an option to take out the raisins. did not really like the salad, since it was just cut vegetables with lemon juice.

YUMMY! Beautiful presentation and fresh food. Love the fact that the food is so authentic. The Naan was exceptional!!

Chicken Mandi dish - $18

Mandi Xpress is a casual HALAL Yemeni restaurant offering popular Yemeni dishes as well as some sips and sweets. I stopped by for a weekday lunch with a co-worker. Fish Mova ($25) This tandoor grilled butterflied fish dish was prepared with Yemeni spices like cumin, coriander, tumeric, garlic, chili, etc and created an extremely flavorful, tender and mouth watering dish. Served with a large Yemeni flat bread, this was the perfect accompaniment to scoop up all that fish. Adeni chai ($9 for a kettle for 2 people) - This aromatic Yemeni style milk tea originated from the Aden region. It's made with black tea, milk, cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves. It was rich, creamy, soothing and the perfect way to end a meal. Overall I was impressed with the fish and chai here. I saw that they have fahsa here (simmered lamb and beef dish) and will need to try that on my next visit. My co-worker ordered a chicken mandi dish ($18), and said it was just ok, and it looked a little plain to me. I tried his rice and while it was aromatic, it wasn't as good as the one at Mandhi House in Anaheim.

Food was so delicious! Ordered Mandi Chicken (half chicken) served with rice. The chicken and rice were so flavorful! The giant Yemeni bread has an amazing herb flavor and is huge! Super soft and fluffy on the edges and crisp in the center. We also really enjoyed the Adeni Chai, it is lightly sweetend and perfectly spiced! And on top of the flavorful food, the staff were very friendly and welcoming! We will definitely will be back!

So happy to find a new halal food in Irvine! It is the first Yemeni restaurant in town, and they're still in their soft opening phase. I believe this is their second location in California (the first one is in Riverside). We tried their Lamb Mandi and Shakshouka, so good!! The bread is good too! Don't forget to mention that the customer service is amazing. Amr was the gentleman who took our order, and he was very friendly and informative. The place is clean and modern. We pray that their customers continue to grow and that they will last for a long time!

Mandi chicken with basmati rice.

First time to try Yemeni cuisine. The place is casual, clean and convenient. We were curious about the Mandi chicken. My wife and I are seniors and thought just sharing a whole chicken plate would be more than enough plus it was better value. They were generous enough to give us 2 full half chicken plates instead. The rotisserie chicken was fall of the bone tender and well seasoned. The fragrant basmati rice was a nice surprise. The fried onions, raisins and almonds just elevated it to stand on its own. We were very satisfied with the food and experience. We have to be back to try other dishes.

I have traveled to the Middle East on several occasions and always enjoyed their lamb dishes. Upon returning to the States I could never find any places that replicated what i had there, at least not in Irvine. Stumbled on this place just by chance. Loved it. The mandi lamb was just like the one i had in Qatar and also in Abu Dhabi. Great mesh of flavors with the savory lamb, and the sweet raisins. A little pricey, but it was a good portion as well. I will definitely be back.

This was my first time having Yemeni food and it was really delicious. They have a lot of different options on the menu, which made it fun to try something new. The lamb mendi meat was very tender and seasoned really well and everything was super flavorful. I also really liked the flatbread that came with the meal. Overall, it was a great first experience with Yemeni food! it's in a plaza with outdoor seating so we sat outside for fresh air. service was good!

I finally found the perfect place to eat healthy authentic food and finally met the best chef and cook Mr/ Alvaro very friendly and always wants to make the client happy to the extend that he can cook your meals the way you like it even though it's not the way it's explained in the menu. Great experience, Excellent customer service super friendly atmosphere Again I'm glad I finally got the right place to eat healthy authentic foods.

We were comp'ed fresh bread and hummus. Excellent!

Lebanese style falafels are the best and this place nails it. I commented to my wife how beautiful the chicken had come out, the colors, little black charred corners and edges from the fire, golden reflection on the glaze. It is not cheap but worth every penny. Our server was great and we can't wait to go back. The place is so unassuming from the outside and beautiful on the inside.

We had reservations and our tables were ready early before our time so we were able to sit there and wait for the rest of the party. The menu is pretty extensive with a good variety of cold and hot appetizers and meats. The prices were also reasonable. We opted for the dinner package, which came with choices of 3 cold appetizers, 3 hot appetizers, salad, 3 choices of meat, and rice for $55 per person plus tax and gratuity. The belly dancing show started at 8:30pm and was entertaining. The dancer really engaged with the audience. I was sitting in a far corner and thought I was hidden from her view, but she came over, started dancing next to me, and got me to do a slight shimmy along with her. It was fun. My only complaint is the waitress was a bit much. We already ordered a lot of food, mind you, but every opportunity she had, she kept pushing to order more and then mentioned there would be an extra charge. She also wanted to charge us for 8 people even though we had 7 people at the table.

** this is from several months ago** t'was sitting in my drafts for a bit,…read more... Several beer pitchers in @ HACHI (just next door-shout out to them)-- for a celebration of a breakup, the end of midterms, or simply the triumph of continuing to exist (in THIS economy?? were all needing to praise ourselves for simply surviving) -- we found ourselves drawn, like moths to a fluorescently lit flame, to Halal Guys. Now listen. The food? Solid. Reliable. The kind of food that understands you are not here for nuance. You are here because life has punched you in the throat and you require a plate of rice, chicken, gyro meat, and mysterious white sauce to spiritually stabilize. I used to go to the OG one in NYC when i was getting punched in the throat there too. (PUNCHED IN THE THROAT BY ACADEMIA, FIGURATIVELY, y'all haver crazy imaginations outthere). BUT it;s the people... It's always the people... The staff. My siblings in falafel... it was 10 PM. You could feel the collective energy of "we have been serving drunk people since sunset and you are the 437th group tonight explaining your breakup story while pointing at the menu." Not judging, just warmth and the quiet aura of people who have seen things. Who have witnessed humanity at its lowest point: ordering extra hot sauce and then immediately regretting it. JC looked in my soul and I think he understood,,, everything. AND JESS! (my fairy wielding a spoon scooping the heavenly meat and talking to me like a therapist??) And they fed us. Efficiently. Respectfully. Would I return? hell ya i would. only to see if Jess and JC remembers me. JK the food is always reliable. y'all stay away from the hot saucres,

Overall (1/5) This was easily my worst Halal Guys experience…read moreand honestly left me really disappointed. I came craving something familiar and left feeling like I wasted both time and money. First Impressions (1/5) When I walked in, there was only one person working, handling the fryer, the register, and assembling plates. I genuinely felt bad for her, especially considering the steady line forming. What We Got (2/5) I ordered a regular plate, which is what I usually get at Halal Guys. Nothing customized or complicated, just the standard order I have had many times before at other locations. Taste and Quality (0/5) The food was shockingly bad. The rice was raw and crunchy, which was hard to believe at first. The meat pieces were tiny and very chewy, and the pita bread was extremely soggy. On top of that, it was only around 4 pm and the usual spinning meat and grill were not even on, despite the line picking up. Service (2/5) The worker was clearly trying her best, but one person running everything in a busy location is not realistic. She was constantly running back and forth between the fryer and the line, which made the whole operation feel chaotic and slow. Space and Atmosphere (3/5) The space itself was fine and what you would expect from Halal Guys. Clean enough, but nothing stood out positively enough to offset the food experience. Was It Worth It (0/5) Not at all. As someone who is pretty frugal and almost always finishes their meals, I could not finish this plate. It genuinely felt like a waste of $18. Final Thoughts This location does not seem to be held to the same standards as other Halal Guys in the area. This experience was disappointing from start to finish.

From the two, the gully smash was our favorite--it's like a classic smash burger but the addition of pastrami enhanced it! The Bhangra smash was definitely different than any burger I've had before but you can definitely tell the south Asian influences in this one. The burgers were both enjoyable, however, they were on the oily side and felt a bit heavy. I'd say prices here were also pretty steep for what you're getting. I'd say that this is a great option for halal burgers, but I think if you're not restricted to eating halal meat, there are burger options that I like more. The restaurant itself is in a food court that has a decent amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. Service here is friendly and you could really tell that they're passionate about their food here (which is always positive points in my book).

From what I understand, Aria is the recent addition to the growing Persian Empire of the Super Irvine dynasty. The parents run the grocery store, the daughters run the excellent Irvine Grill restaurant, and Aria Kitchen is their latest experiment. While we didn't order any Mexican fusion food, there were some of those same flavors that really came through. The bone marrow comes with a delicious garlicky olive oil to drizzle on top. The oil has a bit of a kick to it--- chili, maybe? that evokes more of a Mexican flavor profile than an Iranian flavor profile. Some of their fresh Pita dipped in it? Life changing. We liked the kabob--- it's pretty good. However, we're spoiled by their sister restaurant, Irvine Grill. Irvine Grill still takes the crown for our favorite kabob. Aria is still a strong contender, though! The Asheh Reshteh is probably my favorite dish here (if we're talking appetizers, their bone marrow is by far one of the best apps I've had ever). It's hard to find good Asheh Reshteh, because it has to hit that balance of well-stewed but not mushy. This one was excellent. They gave us plenty of Kashk to put on top too! Where Aria shines is in its variety and consistent quality. The food is all fresh and delicious, and the flavor combo (while surprisingly not wholly uncommon----NorCal has a handful of similar Mexican-Iranian fusion spots) is so well-paired. There's a damn good reason that Samin Nosrat opted for Mexico for her show when for geopolitical reasons she was unable to film with Netflix in Iran. Both cuisines love their citrus. I can't wait to visit Aria Kitchen and dine in-restaurant!

Premium combo = entree + $10 Entree + premium drink + masala fries I tried the bowl with mild biryani, malai chicken, green (mild) sauce, and guava mango lassi. The bowl already comes with the raita sauce (a yogurt sauce), so I got the green sauce as my choice of sauce after asking the staff for recommendations. The protein portion was super generous and very well-seasoned with their spice. The green sauce was my favorite and everything in the bowl mixed well together. The whole bowl was delicious and it didn't feel heavy, wasn't greasy. The Kashmiri Chai and the guava mango lassi are the most popular drinks, so I decided to try the guava mango lassi. The flavors blended so well. One wasn't more overpowering than the other, and the sweetness level was perfect for me, also, not too much ice. Masala fries So crispy and well-seasoned!! Could be a little less salty. Gulab jamun cheesecake Also asked for recommendations for their cheesecakes and decided to go with this one. It has the fried donut ball in the middle with syrup. It didn't taste too sweet to me, but I also have higher tolerance for sweets. The center has so much of the cheesecake cheese and it was super soft and fluffy. So delicious! The samosas were also great! Crispy and not too oily. I also love that they use compostable takeout containers, including the lid! The interior looks nice and there are a few seats available. There's outdoor shaded tables and seats too. The only downside is that I wish the outdoor seats were a bit cleaner. There is a free parking garage, just make sure to park in the retail spaces. There was enough parking. The staff members are so helpful and very friendly. Can order with a staff member or using their kiosk. HIGHLY recommend!! Would definitely go back!
