Overall a pretty good spot. The meats were all tender and the lamb wasn't gamey. The milk tea though didn't any tea flavor and was a bit too salty

Absolutely phenomenal. I've been meaning to come here for ages, and was so excited when my friend suggested a lunch at Dolan's! I'm a tea snob, and I was blown away by their chai. The rose and cardamom took it to another level, and the glasses are old school glass. They remind me a lot of what my Iranian family uses. The food was equally stunning. Halal, excellent quality, and good portions. We ordered the chicken skewers, the hanging lamb pieces, the meat samsas and squash samsas, the naan, and the dumplings. Wow. We also shared the yoghurt and the cake slice for dessert, both of which were incredible. I really liked the restaurant's culture too---we had tea and naan for a while before ordering the many entrees (we were waiting on a few people), and did not feel rushed at ALL. Being able to order on our phones and go at a leisurely pace was amazing. Usually, it feels like most restaurants here in Irvine try to rush you out, but this place really made us feel welcome. Parking's a nightmare at this plaza, so I decided to park across the street and walk. It was nice to walk back to my car and digest a bit! Thank you to the wonderful staff at Dolan's! We had an amazing time, and will be back very soon.

Uyghur restaurants have come and gone in Irvine so I was super stoked to see another one pop up. I love Uyghur cuisine. I came here for lunch with my friend and we tried a bunch of items. I especially loved the lamb skewers!! We also had some of the bread and dumplings. Do not miss out on their desserts. The baklava ones are absolutely delicious!

Small Plate Chicken

The food is definitely amazing here, it's a combination of Turkish and Chinese food. Small Plate Chicken: This dish comes with wide hand pulled noodles and the portion is big for "small plates." The chicken is braised with Asian spices(like five spice, peppercorns). If you cannot eat spicy food then ask for mild/ no spicy, it is a medium level spicy and numbing dish. There's also a boneless version for this dish. Highly recommended. Chicken Skewers: The chicken skewers are well seasoned with species like cumin. The chicken is juicy and tender. Really enjoyed the flavor of this dish. Highly recommend it. They also have lamb. Homemade Yogurt: A great dessert option. The yogurt itself is unsweetened with honey, nuts and dried fruits on top. It's creamy and not overly sweet. Tomato Eggs Laghman: The form of this noodle is similar to udon. It is super chewy and it is hand pulled/freshly made. The savory tomatoes and eggs poured on top adds a hint of sourness to this dish. Definitely recommend on trying their noodle selections. The restaurant is warm, modern, and beautiful. The service was outstanding. I would love to go back to try more of their menu options. Their portion is really good for the price. Great place to explore and try a different type of cuisine.

What a gem! I love places like this that just introduce a whole new cuisine to your tastebuds. While the dishes and flavors felt very familiar, it was a nice surprise to try something different. Everything was very good from the chicken to the lamb skewers to the rice dish to the honey cake. This is somewhere you can keep coming back to and try new dishes. The restaurant is nice and laid back with very friendly staff. We luckily got a table quickly and I can't wait to return.

Taranchi Laghman

Dolan's showcases the delicious cuisine of the Uyghurs, highlighting the flavors of Central Asia. Everything on the menu is amazing, be sure to start the meal off with some samsa and manta. Taranchi Laghman: The hand-pulled wheat noodles are chewy and sturdy. Diced bell peppers, celery, tomatoes, and onions are stir fried with beef. The fresh vegetables provide sweetness in contrast to the savory tomato gravy poured over the noodles. Dolan's Tower Kebab: This is definitely a showstopper! A tower of metal skewers has hooks holding one pound of lamb kebabs. The long thin strips of lamb are coated with black and white sesame seeds and the spices, especially cumin, provide an enticing aroma. The meat really is cooked to juicy perfection, at the correct point of tenderness that will please everyone at the table. Uyghur Goshnaan: This one is also a winner. The flatbread is grilled until golden, brown, and crispy. When you bite into this meat pie, the flavors of the tender beef, lamb, onions, black pepper, and spices will tickle you taste buds. Dining Room: The lavishly decorated space has booths and many large tables. Parking: This shopping plaza can get crowded with visitors for Trader Joe's, Omomo, and Wanderlust Creamery. After some jostling, you'll find a spot soon enough.

We ordered takeout. I saw this place next to Trader Joe's. The restaurant is really cute and good for date night I wanted to try the pie like Uyghur Goshnaan handmade bread filled with a savory blend of ground beef, tender lamb, onions, and black pepper ...this is so crispy thick and I crave this so much. Get this. I'm definitely getting this again or to go when I pass it The small plate of chicken plate is actually big. Can serve 3 ppl? Comes with a box of wide noodle. For value size and price wise. This is worth it. The beef stir noodle so yummy. Flavoring is potent and strong. But the portion is small. Kind of sad

First time trying Uyghur cuisine and would come back! Came for lunch and got seated pretty quick. Interior was pretty big and lots of tables and seats! Ordered the Traditional Laghman Noodles, Uyghur Polo, and the Uyghur Milk tea. Nothing mind blowing about the Laghman, was a pretty standard stir fried noodle. The Polo was what I would come back for though. Such a uniquely flavourful dish with very tender lamb chunks! Love this dish! We also tried getting the milk tea and although the menu does say salty, we didn't expect it to taste like straight up hot salty milk...could not taste the tea at all. Overall would definitely come back to try the other dishes too!

A year since their soft opening and we finally made a return visit to Dolan's Irvine location. Service was courteous and friendly, but it was a hot day out and the dining area did not feel adequately air conditioned. Instead of serving ice water, we were given glasses of lukewarm water. It's not a good experience to sweat and perspire when you're trying to enjoy a meal. The Goshnaan and the Plate Chicken are still my fave dishes from their menu. Cucumber with Garlic was a nice and healthier addition to our meal. We also tried the Spicy Rice Noodle and Hand Cut Stir Fried Noodle, but both dishes were disappointing and bland. There has been noticeable improvement since their soft opening, but not enough to upgrade my review. They still have a ways to go to catch up to their sister restaurant in Alhambra.

Tucked away in a corner of a very busy Irvine plaza! I've never had Uyghur food before but I'll definitely be back for more. I was blown away by the flavors and the noodle textures! I've been craving some good hand pulled noodles and this spot definitely delivered! A must try is the tower kebab! The lamb was cooked to perfection delivered with amazing presentation! The traditional laghman was yummy and my fave part of that dish of course were the noodles! The big plate chicken also came with noodles and the meat fell off the bones!! One item I'd skip is the naan. It felt too bready and was a lot for dense than I wanted. Overall the interior is nicely decorated and they have cool custom dish wear. Can't wait to come back and maybe try some of the desserts!

As you walk in, the space is beautiful, modern, yet warm, much nicer than their original location in Alhambra. The food is hard to describe, a mixture of Turkish and Chinese. The flavors are strong and unusual. For instance the Small plate chicken is chicken braised with cinnamon and five spice on top of delightfully springy hand pulled rice noodles. I recommend asking for extra noodles otherwise it's mostly chicken pieces. You can order it boneless hopefully still predominantly dark meat. It's somewhat spicy (3/10) with a small dose of tongue numbing Szechuan peppers. The Goshnaan is a must. It's a stuffed flat bread that is pan fried to a crisp. The stuffing is a mixture of beef and lamb so it's less gamey than pure lamb. The braised eggplant is a wonderful blend of peppers and just right soft eggplant in a thick sauce that would great with rice. Service is impeccable. Did I mention the space is gorgeous? Highly recommended.

This was my first time trying Uyghur cuisine! It's located in a nice plaza, parking was easy. We came on a Monday during lunch time and there was no wait, however business was pretty good for a weekday. The interior was nice and spacious with plenty of tables available. Service was ok, ordered through an app although the signal in the restaurant was not great so it took a while for things to load. Also took a while to get our waters. Overall, the food was ok but it was nice being able to try a new cuisine! We ordered the traditional Lagham, it was a mild flavor but noodles were nice and chewy (a bit on the harder side). There was only a few pieces of beef. We also ordered the beef samsa and beef manta (which are the dumpling dishes). The beef was super gamey. I stuck to beef because I'm not a fan of lamb (too gamey) but the beef was incredibly gamey and unfortunately I was unable to eat the meet inside the dumplings and samsa. Outside of samsa though was nice and crispy!! If you like lamb and gamey meets, this would be the perfect place for you! Although I didn't love it, it was great to experience this type of cuisine!

WOW I am definitely coming back. Flavors and spices here are unmatched. Not too busy on a Friday night, we were seated right away in super comfy chairs. The ambiance and decoration was well curated. We ordered: - Uyghur Goshnaan: easily my favorite dish, had a juicy lamb filling with a crispy fried crust. Not too heavy! - Mantu: had a well marinated meat filling that was dripping with juice. Reminded me of a soup dumpling with a skin similar to their hand pulled noodles. - Fried cabbage: honestly nothing special but it was a wonderful palate cleanser between the meaty dishes we ordered - Boneless small plate chicken: suuuper interesting marinade and tender chicken meat. Had a numbing spice that I personally really enjoy. A bit on the salty side, would recommend ordering a side of rice. We also really liked bed of hand pulled noodles underneath the chicken too.

We had reservations and our tables were ready early before our time so we were able to sit there and wait for the rest of the party. The menu is pretty extensive with a good variety of cold and hot appetizers and meats. The prices were also reasonable. We opted for the dinner package, which came with choices of 3 cold appetizers, 3 hot appetizers, salad, 3 choices of meat, and rice for $55 per person plus tax and gratuity. The belly dancing show started at 8:30pm and was entertaining. The dancer really engaged with the audience. I was sitting in a far corner and thought I was hidden from her view, but she came over, started dancing next to me, and got me to do a slight shimmy along with her. It was fun. My only complaint is the waitress was a bit much. We already ordered a lot of food, mind you, but every opportunity she had, she kept pushing to order more and then mentioned there would be an extra charge. She also wanted to charge us for 8 people even though we had 7 people at the table.

Several beer pitchers in @ HACHI (just next door-shout out to them)-- for a celebration of a breakup, the end of midterms, or simply the triumph of continuing to exist (in THIS economy?? were all needing to praise ourselves for simply surviving) -- we found ourselves drawn, like moths to a fluorescently lit flame, to Halal Guys. Now listen. The food? Solid. Reliable. The kind of food that understands you are not here for nuance. You are here because life has punched you in the throat and you require a plate of rice, chicken, gyro meat, and mysterious white sauce to spiritually stabilize. I used to go to the OG one in NYC when i was getting punched in the throat there too. (PUNCHED IN THE THROAT BY ACADEMIA, FIGURATIVELY, y'all haver crazy imaginations outthere). First Impressions (1/5) When I walked in, there was only one person working, handling the fryer, the register, and assembling plates. I genuinely felt bad for her, especially considering the steady line forming. What We Got (2/5) I ordered a regular plate, which is what I usually get at Halal Guys. Nothing customized or complicated, just the standard order I have had many times before at other locations. Taste and Quality (0/5) The food was shockingly bad. The rice was raw and crunchy, which was hard to believe at first. The meat pieces were tiny and very chewy, and the pita bread was extremely soggy. On top of that, it was only around 4 pm and the usual spinning meat and grill were not even on, despite the line picking up. Service (2/5) The worker was clearly trying her best, but one person running everything in a busy location is not realistic. She was constantly running back and forth between the fryer and the line, which made the whole operation feel chaotic and slow. Space and Atmosphere (3/5) The space itself was fine and what you would expect from Halal Guys. Clean enough, but nothing stood out positively enough to offset the food experience. Was It Worth It (0/5) Not at all. As someone who is pretty frugal and almost always finishes their meals, I could not finish this plate. It genuinely felt like a waste of $18. Final Thoughts This location does not seem to be held to the same standards as other Halal Guys in the area. This experience was disappointing from start to finish.

From what I understand, Aria is the recent addition to the growing Persian Empire of the Super Irvine dynasty. The parents run the grocery store, the daughters run the excellent Irvine Grill restaurant, and Aria Kitchen is their latest experiment. While we didn't order any Mexican fusion food, there were some of those same flavors that really came through. The bone marrow comes with a delicious garlicky olive oil to drizzle on top. The oil has a bit of a kick to it--- chili, maybe? that evokes more of a Mexican flavor profile than an Iranian flavor profile. Some of their fresh Pita dipped in it? Life changing. We liked the kabob--- it's pretty good. However, we're spoiled by their sister restaurant, Irvine Grill. Irvine Grill still takes the crown for our favorite kabob. Aria is still a strong contender, though! The Asheh Reshteh is probably my favorite dish here (if we're talking appetizers, their bone marrow is by far one of the best apps I've had ever). It's hard to find good Asheh Reshteh, because it has to hit that balance of well-stewed but not mushy. This one was excellent. They gave us plenty of Kashk to put on top too! Where Aria shines is in its variety and consistent quality. The food is all fresh and delicious, and the flavor combo (while surprisingly not wholly uncommon----NorCal has a handful of similar Mexican-Iranian fusion spots) is so well-paired. There's a damn good reason that Samin Nosrat opted for Mexico for her show when for geopolitical reasons she was unable to film with Netflix in Iran. Both cuisines love their citrus. We tried all 3: one plate of the shank/ribs combination (which came with a bed of rice, pickled veggies, and a bowl of soup) and also one order of the lamb skewers which came with 3 skewers. Everything was excellent but the lamb shank was truly amazing and my favorite item - the meat was outrageously tender and just fell off the bone as I tried to take a piece - we had the shank just basic with no rub. The short ribs were a close second (we had these with the bbq rub and it was tremendous if you wanted more flavor). The skewers were decent - we had them plain because I didn't want anything too spicy but I would def recommend getting the rub for these if I were to get them again. The pickled veggies balanced the heavy meat and rice items perfectly to round out the meal. We also tried the jasmine yuzu tea drink and the homemade yoghurt which ended the meal nicely. I'm not a fan of lamb in general and generally avoid it at most restaurants, but I was loving every bite. Would highly recommend to try this place if you're looking for a quick lunch or dinner.
