My husband and I love coming to Dolan's, both on our own and with the family. The food is incredibly delicious! I'm usually not a fan of lamb, but I even enjoy the lamb dishes here. This was my first time having Uyghur cuisine and it did not disappoint. The parking can get tricky at peak hours but luckily for me, there was plenty of parking. I parked over by the Jamba Juice area. Everyone was really pleasant and it was pretty easy ordering, the staff were helpful in sharing their most popular dishes and answered questions I had about the ingredients. It looks a lot bigger inside than I thought. I've passed by so many times and I didn't realize it was even there till the day we went. We ordered : special tea, Uyghur goshnaan, Laghman, Mapo tofu, fried cabbage, and honey cake. Everything was delicious. I'm not particularly a fan of lamb because it tastes gamey to me but my friend enjoyed it. The Laghman was the star for me, the hand-pulled noodles were bouncy and the beef was cooked perfectly. We didn't have much basis for deciding whether this was a good example of the cuisine though The big plate chicken was good and the plate was indeed big. We had to take that home. And it's pretty spicy, so be prepared. The fried naan with beef was good as well. I placed a takeout order that was scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and arrived around 1:08 p.m. Unfortunately, there were no parking spaces available, so I asked my child to quickly go inside and pick up the order while I waited nearby. A staff member immediately refused and said my child could not pick up the food without a parent present because it was "illegal." Since I had never encountered this before, I parked farther away and went inside myself. Only then was I told that the food wasn't even ready yet. What disappointed me most wasn't the delay, but the attitude. There was no apology for the late order. Instead, the employee was dismissive and insisted that it was "illegal" for my child to pick up the food. After looking into it later, I couldn't find any law that prohibits a child from picking up a parent's takeout order. If this is the restaurant's own policy, that's completely fine--but it should be explained as store policy, not presented as though it's the law. I understand that every business can have its own rules. However, better communication and a more respectful attitude would have made this experience much more pleasant. read more

We have been looking to try this restaurant for a while now and finally did for a late lunch. The Uyghur Polo, a traditional braised rice is a good starting point. It's flavorful with tender lamb, carrots, onion, and sweet raisins. It's usually prepared during gatherings. The Quyash Qatlima is another interesting Uyghur dish. A savory pie dish with ground beef, tomato, bell pepper and melted mozzarella. The Honey Cake looks tempting to try and so we did! It was light and not too sweet. It's pretty hard to mess up tomato egg; the scrambled eggs were fluffy and not overcooked, the tomatoes were fresh and sweet. The noodles were different than in the small plate chicken, but just as fresh and springy. - Fresh yogurt: 7/10. A wonderful refreshing dessert to end the night. Absolutely phenomenal. I've been meaning to come here for ages, and was so excited when my friend suggested a lunch at Dolan's! I'm a tea snob, and I was blown away by their chai. The rose and cardamom took it to another level, and the glasses are old school glass. They remind me a lot of what my Iranian family uses. The food was equally stunning. Halal, excellent quality, and good portions. We ordered the chicken skewers, the hanging lamb pieces, the meat samsas and squash samsas, the naan, and the dumplings. Wow. We also shared the yoghurt and the cake slice for dessert, both of which were incredible. I really liked the restaurant's culture too---we had tea and naan for a while before ordering the many entrees (we were waiting on a few people), and did not feel rushed at ALL. Being able to order on our phones and go at a leisurely pace was amazing. Usually, it feels like most restaurants here in Irvine try to rush you out, but this place really made us feel welcome. Delicious Uyghur Uzebekistan food in Socal! I didn't know there was one here. After having Manti juicy dumplings for the first time at Navat in LA I had to find a spot closer to home. Manti dumplings are like a deluxe version of Xiaolongbao juicy dumplings and are time consuming to make so it's a treat to have it here. Immediately when you enter Dolan's you are transported to Central Asia with their beautiful decoration and vibey music. Their manta dumplings with crispy chili oil (same as Manti), baked pie, and honey cake and baklava were particularly delicious. Came here with a coworker on a Thursday evening for dinner after we both got off work. Good plaza - great location, plenty of parking, right by the Smart & Final and Trader Joe's. Interior ambiance looks nice. However service was absolute crap and food was subpar given it was extremely overpriced and wasn't that great. When I first arrived, the host tried to force us to sit at a table with chairs right by the door. It was really cold though and I wanted a booth, and the host kept not letting us sit anywhere, despite the place being practically empty besides one party of 4 older white people. Note that my coworker is black - and the host discriminated against him, not servicing us the same as the table directly next to us. He was so nice and friendly to the other table, talked and checked in on them, joked and laughed with them, brought them free dessert, and brought out the mobile tap to pay at the end of their meal. We got none of that - didn't check in on us and ignored us walking right past us several times and took forever with our food. For the Uyghur Goshnaan - the menu did specify that dish may take 18-25min, but the Fried Naan with Beef took forever as well. The male server was the one being disrespectful to us, I will acknowledge that another girl who didn't seem to speak English well did come over and refill my coworker's water when his glass was empty. We ordered the Uyghur Goshnaan and Fried Naan with Beef. Uyghur Goshnaan - it was a glorified pastry with dumpling filling for $18.95, absolutely not worth it. Then the Fried Naan with Beef barely had any beef, it was mostly just fried bread. My friend/coworker was so disappointed by the overpriced terrible food and the awful service that he just wanted to leave right away. As mentioned, the server never checked in on us and ignored our table. When I wanted to request more napkins and extra utensils to share the dishes, I had to get up and grab them myself at a cart by the register. Crap service - that's your job to check in on me if I need anything. So my friend had to go up to ask the server to pay the bill, which he did and he tipped nicely too - in hopes of changing that server's perception of him. I wouldn't have done that - not worth trying for assholes like that. We had an absolutely horrendous experience here. We decided to try this place for my birthday since it had just opened in the neighborhood. It's a nice restaurant with pretty decorations, and the food was good according to my boyfriend, but the service was extremely disappointing. There were two people working: a female server who barely spoke English and a man who appeared to be the food runner. The menu was already confusing, and it was very difficult to get any recommendations or help because the server didn't speak English. They also didn't have rice, which is strange for a Middle Eastern-ish restaurant. My boyfriend ordered the lamb and the tripe, and we ordered the tiger salad. The only things on the menu that appealed to me were the chicken skewers and the meat pie. The chicken was juicy, but three skewers alone were not very filling. The meat pie was supposed to take 25-35 minutes. We waited for an hour and 15 minutes without anyone checking on us--not once. No one asked if we needed anything else, wanted to order another dish, or were enjoying the food. When it was nearly closing time, we finally asked the food runner about our meat pie. He said, "Oh, the kitchen is closed." We explained that we had ordered it over an hour earlier. He checked with the server and came back saying, "Oh, sorry. She didn't put it in." Then they simply brought us the bill. If I had known the meat pie wasn't coming, I would have ordered more chicken skewers. Instead, I literally left hungry on my birthday, and by the time we left, everything else nearby was already closed. There was barely an apology, no offer of a replacement, and no attempt to make things right. We also fell behind on our birthday plans while waiting for food that was never coming. The food may be good, but the lack of communication and customer service ruined the experience. If you want to try it, I would recommend takeout. Sadly, we will not be returning. read more

The food is definitely amazing here, it's a combination of Turkish and Chinese food. Small Plate Chicken: This dish comes with wide hand pulled noodles and the portion is big for "small plates." The chicken is braised with Asian spices(like five spice, peppercorns). If you cannot eat spicy food then ask for mild/ no spicy, it is a medium level spicy and numbing dish. There's also a boneless version for this dish. Highly recommended. Chicken Skewers: The chicken skewers are well seasoned with species like cumin. The chicken is juicy and tender. Really enjoyed the flavor of this dish. Highly recommend it. They also have lamb. Homemade Yogurt: A great dessert option. The yogurt itself is unsweetened with honey, nuts and dried fruits on top. It's creamy and not overly sweet. Tomato Eggs Laghman: The form of this noodle is similar to udon. It is super chewy and it is hand pulled/freshly made. The savory tomatoes and eggs poured on top adds a hint of sourness to this dish. Definitely recommend on trying their noodle selections. The restaurant is warm, modern, and beautiful. The first thing my wife and I experienced when walking into this restaurant was the splash of bright color from a large painting of traditional Central Asian musicians playing in front of a large ablaze hearth. Traditional Turkish-style pillows surrounded a low table with a polished brass teapot. What an entrance! And the decor of the rest of the restaurant was luxurious, with a glass-enclosed kitchen and a display of traditional Central Asian desserts at the back of the restaurant. My wife and I visited Central Asia last year (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey) and were keen to try the dishes. I ordered the Uyghur Goshnaan (Uyghur naan stuffed with lamb, ground beef, onion and pepper) and my wife ordered the Uyghur Polo (traditional Uyghur braised rice, lamb, onion, raisins, carrots). (My wife's dish is the same as plov.) We also got chili sauce. Both dishes were great --- authentic, with wonderful flavors on their own and enhanced with the chili sauce. For dessert, we ordered the honey cake, which was a layered, indulgent cake. The reason for the 4-star (vs. 5-star) review was really the service. It's not a good experience to sweat and perspire when you're trying to enjoy a meal. The Goshnaan and the Plate Chicken are still my fave dishes from their menu. Cucumber with Garlic was a nice and healthier addition to our meal. We also tried the Spicy Rice Noodle and Hand Cut Stir Fried Noodle, but both dishes were disappointing and bland. We got a gargantuan spread, and it all started with this big plate chicken! It's this gorgeous red plate of spicy chicken with aromatic oils atop some flat chewy noodles. Wow, talk about a flavor punch! And that's just the start of our journey, because we got the Goshnaan next. It's like a crispy pastry with ground meat stuffed in the middle. Crispy, meaty, umami, and a great thing to dip into that delicious chicken sauce! Mmmm! Of course we have to have tea! This is their special tea....get it? Special tea? Specialty? Funny right? As you walk in, the space is beautiful, modern, yet warm, much nicer than their original location in Alhambra. The food is hard to describe, a mixture of Turkish and Chinese. The flavors are strong and unusual. For instance the Small plate chicken is chicken braised with cinnamon and five spice on top of delightfully springy hand pulled rice noodles. I recommend asking for extra noodles otherwise it's mostly chicken pieces. You can order it boneless hopefully still predominantly dark meat. It's somewhat spicy (3/10) with a small dose of tongue numbing Szechuan peppers. The Goshnaan is a must. It's a stuffed flat bread that is pan fried to a crisp. The stuffing is a mixture of beef and lamb so it's less gamey than pure lamb. The braised eggplant is a wonderful blend of peppers and just right soft eggplant in a thick sauce that would great with rice. Service is impeccable. Did I mention the space is gorgeous? This was my first time trying Uyghur cuisine! It's located in a nice plaza, parking was easy. We came on a Monday during lunch time and there was no wait, however business was pretty good for a weekday. The interior was nice and spacious with plenty of tables available. Service was ok, ordered through an app although the signal in the restaurant was not great so it took a while for things to load. Also took a while to get our waters. Overall, the food was ok but it was nice being able to try a new cuisine! We ordered the traditional Lagham, it was a mild flavor but noodles were nice and chewy (a bit on the harder side). There was only a few pieces of beef. We also ordered the beef samsa and beef manta (which are the dumpling dishes). The beef was super gamey. I stuck to beef because I'm not a fan of lamb (too gamey) but the beef was incredibly gamey and unfortunately I was unable to eat the meet inside the dumplings and samsa. Outside of samsa though was nice and crispy!! If you like lamb and gamey meets, this would be the perfect place for you! WOW I am definitely coming back. Flavors and spices here are unmatched. Not too busy on a Friday night, we were seated right away in super comfy chairs. The ambiance and decoration was well curated. We ordered: - Uyghur Goshnaan: easily my favorite dish, had a juicy lamb filling with a crispy fried crust. Not too heavy! - Mantu: had a well marinated meat filling that was dripping with juice. Reminded me of a soup dumpling with a skin similar to their hand pulled noodles. - Fried cabbage: honestly nothing special but it was a wonderful palate cleanser between the meaty dishes we ordered - Boneless small plate chicken: suuuper interesting marinade and tender chicken meat. Had a numbing spice that I personally really enjoy. A bit on the salty side, would recommend ordering a side of rice.
