Also, they have an awesome picture on the wall that looks like WhiteBeard from One Piece which really appealed to the nerd in me haha I found out the also have a whole goat thing they do which I a would love to do for a special event Edit: I left this review and then after the fact Damon let the kid at our table try some special dessert because he had never tried it. It made the kids day and was a really kind thing to do. Say what you will but any place that is kind to children is alright by me.

And it's pretty spicy, so be prepared. The fried naan with beef was good as well. Frankly, I didn't think the fried naan really added much to the dish, and there were a couple of random French fries in it as well. The naan was fine, but not at all like naan from an Indian restaurant. This was just a piece of bread. The big tower kabab was just ok. I didn't think there was anyone special. The service was good and the interior decor was much nicer than the plain exterior would suggest.

This time, I cam with a large party, and able to sample numerous dishes. The appetizers and salads each had their own unique and wonderful flavor profile; I especially enjoyed the eggplant salad, suzma (yogurt with cucumber and dill) and the samsa (beef or pumpkin in pastry) -- delicious!! The main courses -- plov with lamb, hand pulled noodles with veggies and the shashliks -- continued the flavor adventure. Even with a large group, dishes came our hot and freshly prepared. The food of Uzbekistan, while sharing many of the spices and herbs of the Middle East and other Asian countries, is more delicate and subtle in its seasoning. "Zira" means "cumin" in Uzbek, but the spice does not heavily dominate any dishes I've experienced. The setting is relaxed and charming -- crafts and artwork from Uzbekistan. Service was warm and efficient. The staff appears to be either from Uzbekistan or one of its neighbors, and they take pride in working there. Azim and his wife own and operate Zira, and the high all around quality is a tribute to their hard work and pride in Uzbek cuisine. If you've never experienced Central Asian cuisine, you're in for a very fulfilling experience at Zira. If you have, you'll be glad you came to Zira for more!
