The food of Uzbekistan, while sharing many of the spices and herbs of the Middle East and other Asian countries, is more delicate and subtle in its seasoning. "Zira" means "cumin" in Uzbek, but the spice does not heavily dominate any dishes I've experienced. The setting is relaxed and charming -- crafts and artwork from Uzbekistan. Service was warm and efficient. The staff appears to be either from Uzbekistan or one of its neighbors, and they take pride in working there. Azim and his wife own and operate Zira, and the high all around quality is a tribute to their hard work and pride in Uzbek cuisine. If you've never experienced Central Asian cuisine, you're in for a very fulfilling experience at Zira. If you have, you'll be glad you came to Zira for more!
