The employees looked like they had fun but still did their jobs Our server had the right amount of attentiveness for us. Let us have conversations with our ourselves and not asking questions while our mouths were full of food. A big plus for me - thank you Love how there was plenty of clean plates and utensils. I ate here about a year ago and I have to say it was mediocre at best. I thought I would give them one more try and boy am I glad that I did. The food was much improved. I don't think I ate one thing I didn't like. They had pretty decent bbq pork. Old school sweet and sour pork which made me remember my childhood when the first Chinese buffets came around in California. Chong was my waitress, she made the place filled with positive vibes and like I was welcomed. The food was also good, be it the orange chicken was a little funky but the chocolate pudding made up for it. Overall I think the place was good, not sure why it only has a 2.2 rating but it definitely doesn't deserve that. read more

We scraped it off and got sweet and sour sauce from the buffet. My husband had buffet, the rice was dry and clumpy, tasteless. The batter on the shrimp wasn't cooked through. I ordered a delivery. The pork was so awful that you couldn't chew it, and had no flavor. We ordered chicken in two different meals, and it had no flavor, and my dog wouldn't eat the chicken. It was the worst meal ever. read more

Me and my husband decided to have a nice dinner at a local buffet, little did we know.. we would end up getting severe food poisoning and a loss of trust in the restaurant industry. When we walked in, it looked nice enough. The floors were semi-clean and the buffet food looked average. We sat down and ordered drinks, we had a very good view of the bathroom. I went up to the buffet to scout out the food while my husband waited for our drinks. I wander back to the table to see my husband's face twisted in shock. He then goes on to tell me that an older Mexican man went into the bathroom and that my husband went in too. He tells me that the man just destroyed that bathroom, he said the stench was horrible and that the guy didn't flush the toilet. My husband says that the guy didn't wash his hands that had toilet residue on them, then the man goes to the buffet, and proceeds to grab food and sauces with his disgusting hands. I have lost trust in buffets and will never go to another one in my life. I understand that this isn't completely the restaurants fault but maybe they could have someone stand watch and make people wash their hands before going to the buffet? Maybe I am just being dramatic, but I feel the need to warn people. We left without eating anything, but I can say from past experience, the food is not great. An employee wiped down the food bar with a dirty rag, shook the same rag over the rice bin to empty it and continued to clean with the same rag. I mentioned this to management but instead of addressing it all I got was an eye roll and a "whelp.. Sorry". I would only recommend to those who like eating bacteria infested food. read more

"Top 100 Chinese Food Buffet"? As Wayne and Garth used to say: NOT! We were driving through Twin Falls back from Jackpot NV (a place with great gaming, but almost completely absent of decent food). I had convinced the wife that Chinese buffet was just the thing we needed to round out our decadent weekend. We drove by Mandarin House -- wow what a huge exterior, and a bunch of cars there, too. Must be big and good, right? We walked up to the door, with signs advertising they were a "Top 100 Chinese Buffet Restaurant." Wow. Must be good, right? We ordered. Decent price for the buffet (with seafood on Sundays). And a well rounded, and generally inexpensive menu, too. And ice cream with most dishes. Must be good, right? Then we walked to the buffet. All of those questions suddenly became "wrong." First, there's hardly any Chinese food on the buffet -- nothing Chinese on the cold side (not even sesame dressing for the salads). The "salad bar" was iceberg lettuce, the usual veggies, what tasted like premade potato salad, and Italian, Ranch, and 1000 Island dressing. Seriously? The hot fare did little better. There were store bought rolls, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, green beans, what looked like salt & pepper unpeeled shrimp, and red crab legs and finally a few Asian entrees -- fried rice, Sinapore noodles, General Tsao chicken, Beef & green beans, a creamy shrimp dish, and tempura battered shrimp, chicken, and pork to go with sweet and sour sauces. There was also two soups -- what smelled like cream of bacon and broccoli, and hot & sour. Needless to say, the selection was very disappointing for me. No white rice? No egg rolls? No potstickers? And what was there was not tasty. The General Tsao chicken was not spicy (and did not even seem to be fried). The fried rice was more like rice with vegetables and pork -- hardly any seasoning and really no soy sauce. The hot and sour soup might as well be called sweet and sour -- there was tons of pieces of what seemed to be ground pork swimming in it, and, when I took a bite, my taste memory brought up "sweet Manwich" in my head. I'm sorry, but hot & sour should not taste anything at all like Manwiches. The shrimp dish was not bad, and the tempura fried stuff was normal tempura fried stuff. The mashed potatoes were described by my wife as "Hungry Jack," (i.e. out of a box), and the salt & pepper shrimp were nearly impossible to peal (not fresh?) and not really tasty. I regret (a) not looking at Yelp before we entered (there are tons of great reviews for tons of other Chinese restaurants within a mile of Mandarin house), (b) not looking at the buffet before we ordered, and (c) not changing my mind once we saw the buffet. The place gets two stars from me because the servers were nice and attentive (though they sat us at the booth nearest the front door, and waves of cold air hit us any time anyone came in), because the food off the menu might be better than what's on the buffet, and because the tempura / sweet & sour dishes were acceptable. But if what you really want is a massive, tasty, Chinese buffet, stay away. Or at least check Yelp first. read more

This is some of the best Americanized Chinese food I've ever had. One can tell that the owners know authentic Chinese food, but also know their audience. The food is tasty and varied, but doesn't use MSG or excessive amounts of oil. There is a salad bar in addition to a solid selection of Chinese dishes on the buffet (sweet and sour sauce available on the side, not pre-dousing the pork, chicken, or shrimp). The hot and sour soup is particularly good. This is highly recommended for anyone passing through Twin Falls. read more

Oh lord. I don't know where to start. The selection was depressing. When I go to a buffet, I just expect a good selection. They had mashed potatoes that were obviously instant and lumpy. I got my son noodles and some breaded chicken. The chicken was like dry and old. He took two bites and was done. I almost choked to death on their old dry rice. That's not even exaggerating at all. The general Taos chicken tasted freezer burnt to me. My husband just said it was obviously not fresh. But the crab looks were alright and the chicken broccoli was good thanks to obvious massive amounts of MSG. So ate my full of those and just had plans to pay and go home and make the most of our night. Then the bill came. $15 Er adult and $7 for a TODDLER that couldn't even get more than 2 bites in without being done because it was gross. We could have gone to sizzler across the parking lot for that price and had a decent soup and salad bar. We could have gotten an amazing dinner at Mexican restaurant. Hell a $20 dinner at McDonald's would have been better than this. After seeing the $7 charge for my TODDLER. I go and get him a big bowl of ice cream so he gets something out of that ridiculous cost. I recently moved to Idaho from living in California all my life. Comparing this place to the Chinese buffets in California, I'd have to say that I quite enjoy it. The selection isn't huge, but it's enough. I've been here 3 times and the food always has tasted good. They bring fresh food out frequently, my husband and I just love the fried shrimp, and the waitresses are super nice. The restaurant seems clean and I really have nothing to complain about. Oh, and another plus....I stay full for hours after eating here, which is a rarity for Chinese food. And it's not like I gorge on the buffet on anything. I'll be back soon. read more

We ordered a carry out and when we arrived home we found that part of the order was missing and we had been charged. We called and asked them to deliver the missing part of our order, we were told there would be a delivery fee because what they would be delivering was less than $20.00. The order had already been paid ($35.45). We told them just to give us the credit. This was the second time in the last couple of months that we have had issues, the last time was with the food. By far the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Showed up half hour before dinner for the lunch buffet (lunch is reasonably priced, at $8.95 a plate). The food was cold, the pork was undercooked, the chicken was ridiculously fatty, and the noodles and rice were dryer than a desert. To top it all off, all of the fruit was so under ripe that you couldn't even bite into it. We received the last scraps from lunch and in the end they charged us dinner prices ($13.99 a plate.) When the bill came out to $46 for three people, I decided not to tip a full 15% and instead only gave 10%. The waiter that took care of our bill ACTUALLY SCOFFED at me when I handed him $5! Definitely not worth the price or experience. I won't be returning ever again, and I urge you not to eat here as well. read more

As far as buffets go, this just isn't one. There are two buffet tables and one of them is only salads and desserts. The other includes a few random dishes. The taste isn't terrible, but the selection is lacking and I found all of the meat dishes to be too chewy. I probably won't eat here again. Worse place ever. Their was acrually mold on multiple items in their all you can eat bar. The cook was mixing some food with his bare hands half way up to his elbow and had blister all over. I used to have lunch here often but recently have cut back because the food tastes rather bland nowadays. The food is always fresh but the flavor just isn't there any more. This place is always clean and the tables are bussed immediately after customers get up to leave. The staff does a great job with service but for some reason the food has lost it's zip. read more

Yikes. The buffet. If that's what you call it...was one of the most disappointing I've ever been too. A very small variety with a few fried selections, and mashed potatoes included. I seriously couldn't believe they charged $13 for this. I think I've been spoiled by the large selections and quality of a typical Asian buffet. You know, the huge places you expect to choose from a variety of Asian food? Not here. I love food, am not picky, but I found myself eating the rice and soup. Wow.
