The owners are incredibly nice and the food is incredibly good. The salt and pepper spare ribs are the best you're going to have on this side of the hemisphere, and we don't say that lightly having lived in China, Malaysia, and Singapore. We are foodies and we highly recommend Mandarin Chef. I also suggest the amazing duck but call in the order 2 days prior. read more

Found hair in food, and they key peoples cars just for parking there. How low can a business be, to key peoples car. Very unprofessional. Will not be coming here ever again. I would give a negative if it was possible. read more

This is a regular dinner spot for us. The place is clean, the staff is amazing, the prices are fair and the food is fresh and authentic. read more

The site has changed styles a few times and to see it a Chinese restaurant now peaked our interest. From the outside you wouldn't be able to get a good idea of what you'd be stepping into, but once you did, the quaint consistent decor would put you at ease. The spot offers approximately 12 - 4 person tables. Offering a wide variety of a la carte and a few combination plates, this place puts out some nice dishes. The portions are a little small compared to other local spots, but they do bring some good flavors. The staff were extremely nice and professional, and prompt too. I would've liked to see the lights dimmed a bit and the fried wontons served with sauce instead of coated with sugar, but overall its a great place and I would go back. read more

This is our favorite Chinese spot in town. My sister said they had the best Kung Pao chicken she's ever had. My husband likes the honey walnut shrimp every time. I miss sitting down in the restaurant. The employees are very friendly and it's such a relaxing atmosphere. Happy that we can continue to order to go and taste just as delicious! read more

Dont come here unless you want your car keyed! Cant believe a business is so jealous that they have to key peoples cars because they get no business and all the cars that park there are for big lots or dutch bros. DO BETTER! read more

This is a family owned business and has a good family feel to it. I have enjoyed every dish I ordered. I in particularly like the chef specials and chicken chow mein. Very personal and genuinely grateful that you like going and enjoying their food. Highly recommend Vicki M. V. read more

Excellent food, excellent service, very traditional definitely not panda express. You get a lot of food for your money. read more

I should have checked yelp before I went to the place it's overpriced and the food doesn't taste good at all they taste old and the portions are very small read more

I used to go here for lunch with a couple of work friends and it was really good, inexpensive, and the staff is very kind.

I cannot understand the great reviews for this place. Cabbage lovers rejoice. There's a ton of cabbage (cheap filler) in EVERYTHING, not just the things you'd expect them in in Chinese food. In the egg drop soup, in the Moo Goo Gai Pan... Everything. There were about 5 pieces of Nicole sized chicken in my chicken dish. The rest was a ton of cabbage and a few other vegetables. Waitress was rude and didn't like me asking questions about the way the dishes were prepared before we ordered. Then a good looking man came in and asked her a ton of questions and she happily helped him. Just really disappointing all around read more

Good food and amazing staff would come here again and tell others to come and try it out

Finally went to try this place! Ordered "Shrimp with lobster sauce"... I don't know why they use "lobster" in the title if it ain't got any lobster in it! Comparing to other places I've had this dish at, this is one of the worse. "Sauce" was very dry, no sauce. Giving 4 stars because I don't know if this is the right way to cook it or maybe the other places put too much "sauce"? Lol Place is clean, they now have an "A" rating, so that's pleasant. Attentive staff, there wasn't anyone in there when I visited for lunch. I'll def. look for a diff place to try this "lobster" sauce dish. read more

Wanted to love this place so much. Good reviews, so we decided to try it. staff was nice and friendly. Not sure why they are not doing dine in so that was a huge disappointment. the food was just oily, greasy and old? No flavor except the frost bite from the frozen veggie in that ( was suppose to be) cashew chicken. Might come back in a few minutes hope this is just a Covid business struggle read more

Nice owners and the food was in big portions! In terms of flavor it was not bad but not great. We got the beef chow fun which was good, and the fried rice was okay, not super special but still good. It was still a pleasant experience overall. read more

Super nice staff and service, but the food itself could be much better. Come for the service. Don't come for the food unless you're really in the mood for mandarin. read more

I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant, especially since there are very few Chinese restaurants in the high desert. Their ad stated that Door Dash delivery was available. I ordered and asked to have my food delivered between 4:30 and 5:00. After 2 hours I received a call saying they did not honor my Door Dash request. Needless to say I was very disappointed and hungry. They SHOULD NOT SAY THEY HONOR DOOR DASH orders if they do not! read more

This was the worst Chinese food I've ever had! They can't even cook rice. It was broken, over cooked and mushy. Szechuan beef...where's the beef it was all noodles and water chestnuts. Walnut shrimp & the orange chicken-No thank you! I will never eat here again! The only good thing was that they returned my money with out any hassle. read more

This is probably the best Chinese food place in the area (& only place in the area for Chinese food that we would order and eat from). The location is not so bad. We usually place a phone order though have eaten here during lunch special hours and the prices and portions are ridiculously cheap during that time (and days it's offered). They're close Monday's which we've forgotten a few times. We order the same thing usually which is chicken chow mein, salt and pepper pork chop with fried rice, honey walnut shrimp with fried rice, egg rolls and egg drop soup. We have tried other dishes in their menus and everything is great but these are the favorite dishes we like to get. The portions are great and definitely sharing kinda portion. They cook to order so your food is always fresh. We definitely highly (&only) recommend this place for Chinese food to our friends. read more

Luv this place. Very authentic dishes and great customer service and many dishes to choose from.

The place is a definite dive. While service us attentive and very friendly (I was the only person in the dining room), I could not overcome the smell of I don't know what, stagnant water, sewer, I don't really know. Suffice it to say it was not appetizing. However, the food was pretty good. Usually the meat in these kind of dishes is overcooked, theirs was not. It was in round little balls though which I thought a bit odd. My lunch plate had daikon radish & cantaloupe on it. It looked like a high school cafeteria plate. Flavors were good. For the price it was good, if only I could overcome that horrid smell read more

It was average but that Mongolian beef more like Mongolian onions lol! Good prices though.

Amazing for the high desert. ... had dinner there last night. Great food and wondeful service. read more

Limitless menu, everything here is soooo good. The owner and chef are very nice here and respectful.

I was looking for something different to celebrate a friend's birthday. The Peking Duck of Mandarin Chef is very impressive (6 stars). It is professionally prepared, skin crispy and meat tender. The duck, sitting on a bed of freshly fried rice noodle, came with an artistically crafted carrot-flower as the garnish. To eat, put the duck meat on a wrap, add cucumber sticks/green onion, and a sauce. But I decided that I don't need the green union and the sauce. The roasted duck was marinated. The meat has a good flavor already. For those who did not eat duck before, it could be risky. It is very different from chicken. Also, beware of the inconvenience. You have to order it 2 days in advance and pay a deposit of a half of the duck's price. To ensure the dish is fresh on your table, you need to call on the phone the same day you dine and let them know the exact time of your arrival. Both my friend and I enjoyed the meal so much. It is a great experience of eating duck in high desert. read more

Mandarin Chef - Beautiful butterfly made with carrot on my husbands dish :) - Chinese Near Me - Apple Valley, California

Only leaving one star because of the man at the register. It was our first time there so we were reviewing the menu and asking questions and he got extremely frustrated and rudely grabbed the menu and pointed to the price, and was very short with any question we asked. Maybe he was just having a bad day, but this was a few weeks ago and The more I think about it the more I just had to post about it. But the food was amazing! I'll be back for the food, hopefully the service will be better. read more

Best Chinese food in High Desert! Their fried rice and hot and sour soup are my favorites!

The food was ok, however David the bus boy was very personable. Would I come back for the food no.

If you're a vegan or have food allergies don't even attempt to try this place. The menu does not accurately describe the dishes. One star because I'm in the emergency room read more

The BEST Chinese food in the high desert, period. I was a very loyal Golden Gate customer for many years, but wanted to give this place a try because it was closer to home. I was not disappointed. Their food is delicious, no matter what you order. The chicken chow mein and beef broccoli are the best. They're a small family owned restaurant also so you can escape the feeling of a large place, and enjoy a nice quiet meal. read more

We LOVE this place.. serious helpings and great flavor, friendly staff... they have a Chinese style kimchee that we get everytime.. it is really good.. and some of the best house fried rice in the area. read more

My family and I wanted to try out this place , I honestly can say I didn't plan to spend almost $30 On veggies. I specifically order the Mongolian beef literally these thieves sold me 5 scrawny pieces of beef and a whole onion. Then my shrimp egg foo young was also counted for.. they threw in a bunch of mess of veggies that's didn't even look like egg foo young, look like a burnt pizza with Veggies and black sauce and on top it had eggshells . I'm very disappointed on how these people take advantage of people's hunger, and worry more about stretching their dollars, in which reality are our dollars for supporting them.. if I wanted veggies I would of gone to subway or pieology pizza.. this place is a total disgrace . Not happy at all read more

Awesome Chinese food, I think seriously the best I have ever had! The staff is so friendly yet very professional. The restaurant is clean and orderly. We ordered hunan chicken and boiled beef in hot sauce. Both were amazing, perfectly flavored and just the right spicy (we eat really hot foods). So happy to have such an awesome restaurant in our neighborhood! Will definitely be eating there regularly. read more

I have seen this particular building change businesses so many times and I have never tried any of them. Finally decided to try Mandarin Chef after reading the reviews on here and I was not disappointed. Walked in and was greeted right away by a friendly hostess. The decor was nice and clean. I ordered the special dinner combo with chicken chow mein. The won ton soup was so yummy! So were the egg rolls and paper wrapped chicken. A lot of places seem to have sub par egg rolls so I was very happy that they had some really good ones. The chicken chow mein was super yummy and so was the fried rice. The staff was very friendly and prompt. I have enough left overs for a second meal. IT was definitely worth the price. I hope this business actually sticks around! Now Im hungry again just talking about this place! ;) read more
