Outstanding date night atmosphere. Thank you for live music, beautiful Christmas decor, wonderful service, and food that just hit the spot.

Salmon in cream sauce

It had an odd ambiance. We were the other new diners after 730 on a Saturday night. The food and atmosphere seemed a bit dated. Steak and shrimp were cooked well. Salmon was in far too much cream sauce. And the creme brulee was delicious.

This is one of the few upscale restaurants in the High Desert area. The 1980s interior is definitely giving off Las Vegas Peppermill Restaurant vibes without the crazy neon. The burgundy velour cantilevered dining chairs were very comfortable. Meals are eaten in very flattering dim lighting. I had the filet mignon. It was cooked a perfect medium. It came with a baked potato and some steamed vegetables. There was an appetizer consisting of two shrimp and an egg roll. These were good as well. The dessert was a delicious creme brûlée. The caramelized sugar topping was crisp and slightly thick which is how I like it. The custard under it has a nice flavor, not too sweet, and a firm consistency. Overall, this was a good meal. Service was prompt and attentive. This is a good restaurant for a date night or as a splurge dinner night out. The menu is varied and has Chinese food items. The ambiance is relaxing. There is a lunch menu, too, which is worth exploring as it is slightly less pricey than dinner.

Roast Duck, so tender, vegetables were cooked perfect.

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! We had the Roast Duck l'Orange and Mahi Mahi, they were both phenomenal! Service was outstanding, we will be back!

I had the 23. Kung Pao Three Delights with was just okay and not hot.

Recently on 4/25 we went for dinner. The music is now too loud for conversations, forcing people to speak louder.

Hadn't eaten at a Mimi's in decades, and never here in high desert. That was until an insurance…read moremeeting there late last year. I was thoroughly impressed by the food, and most of the staff. Today I went to treat my friend for lunch and we both were pleasantly surprised. Food was fresh, and service from our young male waiter was superb. I regret not getting his name, but do know he has another job at Samurai Sushi. I mention so he can be acknowledged. He was genuinely kind, professional, friendly, and so very good at his job. I so appreciate sincere service from start to finish. A sweet soul indeed. This second visit to this location was spot on with my veggie sandwich. The restaurant was clean, and music not bad or crazy loud. Wait time, not bad either. Not often I eat sandwiches, but know I'll be back.

Not to be dramatic, pretty sure my family had a worse Easter than Jesus, thanks to your restaurant…read more Just kidding - I don't believe in that dude. Our Easter dinner at your Victorville, CA location was regular secular bad. Absolutely would not recommend. 1. When we arrived, we stepped into the restaurant and just stood there at the front. No greeter, no greeting from anyone. From where we were standing, I could see into the kitchen - I could see staff and I assume they could see us, but no one seemed concerned. 2. Eventually, a staff member did wander our way. She seated us, left us with the pre fixe menus and then disappeared. We never saw her again (she seemed nice, I hope she's doing well.) I don't know exactly how long we were sitting there with ZERO service, but it was long enough for my parents to wonder why they didn't get the regular menus, long enough for my mom to go back to the front to get a regular menu. Long enough for me to get up walk to the kitchen to get the attention of one of the THREE staff who were just standing there. Long enough for me to report back to my parents and have them not be convinced and want to speak to a manger. Long enough for the guy (who would eventually become our server) to wander by and confirm pre fixe was the only option. Long enough for us to discuss amongst ourselves for at least another minute before another staff member FINALLY purposely came to check on us. 3. I don't know who she was (name or position), but she was wearing black overalls and I assume she was someone on the higher end of the staff hierarchy from her demeanor. I asked her to explain how things were working for the day and with ZERO rizz, salesmanship or customer service skills - she pointed to the menu and said "You pick one thing from each section of that menu." And instantly became my least favorite server in 2026. Talking to me like I'm stupid is NEVER the move. (To be fair, she may not have meant it that way and may have genuinely been just as unsure as we were.) Anyway my parents were hungry and tired and decided to stay. My mom asked her for 4 waters without lemon (and you can probably guess how that went). 4. Eventually, out server came back over to take our order. And I want to be very clear here -- I have no beef and barely any bones to pick with him -- he was very nice and I know he was doing his best. Your company did NOT set him up for a win. When he took our orders, I asked if I could switch out the rice from the salmon dish with mashed potatoes (which, as you would know, were being offered with another dish) he said he thought that would be fine. Apparently it was not. He came back later to say no substitutions -- which, if that's the rule, fine BUT NO ONE TOLD US THAT. You don't tell a customer yes and then say "No." And you especially don't do it on a day when there is barely anyone in the restaurant and I have eyes on no less than two staff standing around the entire time. It's not like I was making an outlandish request at a busy time. He said I could add the mash as an additional side, I asked if it would cost extra, he said yes but wasn't exactly sure how much. I said to forget it. 5. At that point, I asked if gratuity was included in the price and he said it was not. And had I not been so hangry - I would have laughed because WHAT DO YOU MEAN?! And what is the point of this thing?? We're paying extra for things we don't want, for supernaturally slow service, for no substitutions AND tip is not included? Slow clap for the audacity. Y'all are WILD for that. 6. And finally -- when it came time for dessert, the only options were chocolate covered strawberries, molten lava cake (chocolate) and tiramisu (topped with chocolate) and as a representative of the small (but real) community who doesn't like chocolate or coffee... three strikes. You should really have some kind of alternate option. So those are the six points that were lost. I know food service can be thankless work, (I would usually say "hospitality" but that is NOT was Mimi's was offering on this particular Sunday.) It feels like whoever planned it, did so with no other agenda than to make some easier holiday money with zero trade off benefit for the customer -- no bottomless drinks, no gratuity included, no substitutions, no amazing price or amazing food (it was exactly fine). I'm not gonna say you have lost my business forever, you never had it -- I have never thought to myself "I really want Mimi's today"-- but my parents love your restaurant and today could have been such an easy layup. There's no chance of us partaking of one your pre fixe menus again, but moving forward, maybe (hopefully) you can attempt to do better for others. Thanks for a story to tell, I guess. ps... I would have given two stars last week, but I reached out to guest relations first and got no response after a week, so -- it's down to one and that's on them.

We ordered the greatest hits: the Voil au Vent (scrumptious!), the rack of lamb with herbs, the French Onion Soup + bread service, and the special of the day which was swordfish served with capers and a white wine sauce, and a rosemary risotto. The food was excellent, as always: perfectly sized and seasoned portions, with high quality products worthy of the price point. The meats were perfectly cooked to medium, juicy and just the right balance of firmness and melt in your mouth softness. Incredible! We will be back again, and again, and again. Merci Le Chat Noir!

We got escargot, a salmon Benedict croissant, and a chicken crepe with mushroom. Escargot is tender, with the garlic butter it goes really well with the baguette. I've had escargot dishes across many fine dining establishments, and the dish here is also top notch. Salmon croissant has a great balance and is simply satisfying to eat. I ordered the Crepe Supreme. Generally, I'm not a big cheese lover but the cheese on this crepe is cooked very nicely and I enjoy it. The portion is pretty big too. I could've just stopped at the first piece, but couldn't help but finishing the whole thing because it is so good. I only have nice things to say about the service here because everyone is warm and friendly. Pacing is great and my coffee gets refilled promptly. It feels chill and relaxing, and no one bothers us with weird timing check-ins when we have food in our mouth. Our total comes out to $70 for 2 people. Like true Parisian style, you'll need to make a reservation because seating is limited and this spot is quite popular. My boyfriend and I were very fortunate they had a table available when we visited (we didn't know it was reservations-only) but the staff kindly seated us. Next time, I'll definitely call ahead. Right away, you're greeted by a warm and welcoming mother-daughter duo. They patiently walked us through the menu and shared the specials of the day. The chef himself came out to say hello and even took the time to explain a few items we were curious about. Soft French music plays in the background, creating such a calm, inviting atmosphere. *Plain Croissant: A perfect classic. Flaky on the outside, soft on the inside; it's exactly what you'd want from a traditional croissant. I'd come back just for their pastries alone, though this time I was excited to try their savory breakfast items. *Croque Monsieur: Absolutely delicious and wonderfully authentic. I ordered it with ham in the traditional style, and it came with creamy béchamel and melted cheese layered perfectly on top. The portion was generous and satisfying. You can add an egg to turn it into a Croque Madame. This came with a Provençal tomato and a potato pavé on the side, both of which were flavorful and beautifully prepared. The pavé, with its delicate layers, was such a standout. I haven't seen these sides offered at other French restaurants in the U.S., and I'd honestly return just for them. *Machaca Frances: My boyfriend ordered this dish, and it was such a pleasant surprise as a creative, well-executed blend of flavors. The short rib was incredibly tender, paired with potatoes, caramelized onions, and more, all wrapped up in a soft tortilla. The fresh pico, sauce, and avocado on top tied it all together perfectly. When my boyfriend mentioned he was eyeing this dish, the chef smiled and said the machaca filling was similar to beef bourguignon, and he was right! It had that same rich, deep, savory flavor. If they ever have actual beef bourguignon on the menu, I'd order it in a heartbeat based on how good this was. *Side salad: This had fresh greens, carrots, and caramelized onions, with oven-roasted tomatoes, and more, drizzled in a rich balsamic reduction. You could tell a lot of effort went into even the salad, and it tied the dishes together beautifully. This café really reminded me of France, which I miss so much. The space is clean, the atmosphere is warm, and you can tell the staff knows their regulars well. It's the kind of place that makes you feel like family as soon as you walk in. Spots like this are rare for both atmosphere and traditional French cuisine, especially around here, which makes Café La Reve feel even more special. I'm already planning my next visit to try their sweet breakfast options and maybe a lunch entrée. I saw in another review that they also offer dinner on Fridays by reservation, something I'm excited to experience soon. Thank you to the entire team for your kindness and hospitality. Café La Reve is a true gem, and I can't wait to come back.
