Mancini Restaurant is a fantastic stop just outside Vatican City. I had a stellar Margherita pizza--the sauce is absolutely the star: deeply flavorful with just a touch of sweetness that really delights the palate. One of the better tomato sauces I've had in Rome.
The Cacio e Pepe is also highly recommended--rich, bold, and perfectly seasoned, with that classic Roman depth of flavor done right.
A quick note: if you order the focaccia, be aware it's essentially their pizza dough baked on its own--not traditional focaccia. Still tasty, just not what some might expect.
The vibe is modern, comfortable, and lively, making it an easy place to relax after a Vatican visit. Service was exactly what you'd expect in Italy--perfectly fine and unpretentious. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but the pizzas are huge, so the value is definitely there.
Overall, a great choice for excellent pizza and classic Roman pasta in a welcoming setting. read more
